The idea is an insult to all Football League club fans. I bet WBA U21 v Stoke U21 at Wembley will attract all of 3000 fans! I won't be going to any Trophy games next season regardless if we play a Prem U21 team or not. Its the 'Football League Trophy' and no prem U21 teams are in the Football League. Ridiculous. If they see this as a way of introducing these reserves and kids into the Football League then it's very worrying indeed. Hopefully sense will be seen but once the Prem teams wave a few ££ in front of the big cats in charge I doubt they will care about the fans.

It's not the fact that it's the EFL Trophy being tampered with, it's the ominous aftermath and what it might become the start of that worries me.
To be honest most of us know the powers that be don't give a hoot about anything below championship level, all the more reason to make sure we are not below it much longer.
They don't, it's true. I for one however wouldn't support this even if Rovers were in the Championship/PL. It will serve no purpose and will not benefit anyone, even the PL clubs, I truly believe that. It's an absolutely pointless and ridiculous concept. If they want their youngsters to play competitive football, send them out on loan FFS!! At least then the lower league clubs (who actually have fans!) will benefit from it in some way.

I wonder how good some of these U21 teams will look in competitive games ? I think there is a real difference when one of these teams turn up in pre-season where the physical aspect of the game is different - we don't want to kick their kids when they are doing us a "favour" playing us pre-season and our players don't want to get injured themselves. I reckon competitive games could see the U21s finding out they are not as good as they think, as well as a few ending up in the treatment room ..... We shall see. Perhaps the prem teams might decide it is not a good idea when a few can't handle the physical nature of the game.

Its obviously a plan to please Premier League clubs who wont be able to loan out their youngsters left, right and centre due to the new loan rule.
Maybe they should be stopped from culling all the talent from lower league sides for pittance, and cap their squad sizes instead.

And I assume BRFC voted in favour of this. I hope fans boycott all JPT games this year. Agreed.

I bet the feelings expressed on this thread are repeated over and over across the teams in the football league. What are the chances anyone will listen. Answers on a postcard.

i get thoroughly enraged by the big clubs.
We'll end up just like the most boring leagues, especially Spain.
This, I believe, is an attitude issue with Britain. We love the underdog. We don't like success really. We want to give a sucker an even break.
We saw as British teams began European competitions and internationals the divide. How many players have been suckered in to red cards? How much cheating has ruined the game from abroad? We like a fair fight but the rest of world don't seem to mind! Yes, he cheated but he won. Yes, Barcelona are enormously powerful but who cares about Sabadell when another Barcelona team could play! Who cares about little clubs? We want to be the winners. Just like prem fans, never learned the lessons of dealing with defeat - just pick me the winner and we'll see about loyalty and club ethos.
No underdogs. Who wants an underdog when you can be one of a billion winners? No, we are barthelona, no, we are Real, or Bayern or what have you.
I've stopped even seeing premiership fans as fans, they're just turncoats who rejected their team for the bribe of success. Probably supporting Italy this World Cup or whoever has a chance of winning.
In fact, glory hunters need to be erratidicated.

The thing to do is when we play these "B" teams, is to kick the sh** out of them and send them back with injuries... maybe they would rethink this stupid idea

It's a one season trial, so I hope that all fans vote with their feet and stay away. yep only a French style protest will do.

What an absolute pile of sh**. Mass boycott is the only way to go. I'll be disappointed with our supporters if we get any attendance at these matches.

The problem is a load of dickheads will attend these games up and down the country to see their glory team play against a local side. Some people would by a lump of dog sh** if it has their plastic club badge on it. (see Ashton Gate for further details)

Oh dear god. This better be as far as this goes, but I somehow think it'll be the beginning of the end of the fight against the inclusion of B teams in the Football League. I wish the FA would have the balls to tell the PL what they SHOULD be telling them, which is to have a quota of ENGLISH (not "homegrown" Spanish who've been in England since they were 15) in all match day squads. How about affording the lower league clubs more opportunity/ability to improve and make the game more competitive, not watering it down with reserve teams with no support!!! AARRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH! Lady Gardens!!! This is my fourth attempt at posting a reply on this. I did manage to complete one but when I posted it, I got an error message with something about "forgery" The site is getting worse Oh well, 4 is my lucky number, so here we go: Unfortunately, methinks this will not be the end of Premiershit teams tampering with the little clubs. I believe they will keep pushing for their U21s to play in the lower level of the football league. The repercussions regarding promotion and relegation do not bear thinking about. Where will it end? Moneychester Utd vs Moneychester Utd U21s in the FA Cup Final, whilst lying first and second in the Premier League? They already have their own U21 league, made up to a balanced number of teams in each division by the inclusion of some Chimpionship teams. www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/barclays-u21-premier-league-tables.html?paramYouthStage=NATIONALThey are obviously trying to get their youngsters as many high level, competitive games as possible and are not at all concerned about how they achieve it. As long as they see opportunities, or potential opportunities, they will push to achieve their aim and will ride roughshod over the smaller clubs. This is not helped at all by sycophantic Chimpionship teams helping them in their cause; no doubt in the egotistical belief that they are really Premier League clubs in waiting.

I bet for every Bristolian who f**ks off coz they fear for the future of the game and our club, one will come along coz they want to check out the Prem stars.
