Is anyone actually going to pay £18 to watch rovers vs Swansea u21s ? I doubt it . How many fans are going to travel to Liverpool on a Tuesday night and fork out that money to watch what is effectively a friendly in a empty stadium . Also who's going to watch Man U u21 vs Chelsea u21 at Wembley , about a thousand people maybe ? What a pointless competition that has just become .

Maybe it would be a nice protest for us to select a non league game being played on the same evening as any of our JPT games and go along to boost grass roots football. 2000 gas heads at the mango's under the lights would be better entertainment.

Just play the kids. It will be a completely pointless for the Prem teams then so will only last a season.

I bet it wouldn't be at the Prem teams home ground either. Just a lower league team in the vicinity.

I also think this is hugely disrespectful to lower league professional footballers , cant see the likes of mansell and players of a similar age liking this idea much, could you imagine chasing around after these over paid , over hyped pampered prima donna youngsters? They should be cleaning the boots of these senior players!

I hope that DC wouldn't waste our first team on this now pointless competition and just play the kids or players looking to gain fitness or form after injury.

Totally agree , like others have said the only thing we as fans can do is vote with our feet , I certainly will not be watching any of these now pointless games, seems like it's just another victory for the richer , bigger clubs. It's a bloody disgrace!

What an absolute pile of sh**. Mass boycott is the only way to go. I'll be disappointed with our supporters if we get any attendance at these matches. The problem is a load of dickheads will attend these games up and down the country to see their glory team play against a local side. Some people would by a lump of dog sh** if it has their plastic club badge on it. (see Ashton Gate for further details) Nice. A well thought out response there Hugo.

The paint pot trophy has always been reduced admission. And always has been a pointless competition with little interest from supporters until the Final. I would suggest that is why this competition was chosen but could be wrong. Either way, I don't see it as a problem, I don't go to meaningless matches.

Its obviously a plan to please Premier League clubs who wont be able to loan out their youngsters left, right and centre due to the new loan rule. Maybe they should be stopped from culling all the talent from lower league sides for pittance, and cap their squad sizes instead. One of the most important posts ever on this forum. [expect cock joke in a reply]

Traitors to BRFC and the football pyramid In life there is always a different side to the story though. I can't afford the money or time for a ST, so look to go to games I can afford, such as FA Cup, Lge Cup & FL Trophy, which are usually £10 unless we get a plum-tie or through to the higher rounds (chance will be a fine thing). a total lack of any encouraging offers last season didn't help either, nor 6 x Category A games. SO, although I agree that letting EPL U21 teams into it is total joke a boycott means you lot are fine, but people like me can't even see a few cheap games a year. Just to be clear, I'm not saying I'll go to such matches, but labelling genuine fans who do as traitors is hardly helpful.

Absolutely disgraceful. I really hope we didn't vote in favour of this. Would be good to know if we did or didn't. Playing Devil's advocate I wonder what forum opinions will be about the club if we did?

Clubs who apparently voted against it included - Portsmouth Accrington Stanley AFC Wimbledon Hartlepool United Luton Town Cheltenham Town Carlisle have tweeted the following - "In reply to the volume of questions on the subject - we'll be outlining our position on the EFL Trophy changes on Monday morning." - Ok, so we'll take that as a 'yes' then

Like the miners who broke the strike action for their own immediate gain/needs (was it not Mansfield ?...) still lost out in the end ,but became hated in the region. Support this now and find academy teams in the new football league soon playing their games for low admission costs. No wonder Accrington are against it,watch them for £20 or burnley academy in the same league for £5. Wonder where those on a budget will go. I understand your point but it's important innocent fans are made aware of potential consequences in the future. BRFC may be seeing them as a team it won't affect in the future as they aim to be a top end championship club or above with a top academy

Jeez, gotta be voting with our feet for this one! I'm very interested in how Hamer voted on this, we should all be contacting the club asking for a statement.
