So you don't think that fans will turn up to watch a 2nd rate team just because they have a prem badge on their shirt? Or are you still butthurt because i pointed out how you made yourself look silly on another thread by abusing someone rather than making a good argument? Fight, fight, fight. I'm not not bitch slapping mate so it will never happen.

My image is that he is wider than he is tall and that he radiates good natured laughter wherever he goes: Almost like a Father Christmas.....but not a blue one, 'cos that was me.

I think we should stay away from these games. For me it is the thin edge of the wedge to get Prem reserve teams in to the league. Or in another words out competition in Div 1 is just a training session for the B team. Why don't the Premiershite start their own B team league? It's not that they can afford it.
Better still why don't the FA make them have 5 English players on the pitch every game? Sorry I forgot the FA is toothless against them

It makes you wonder why they can't do this. They have so many players on their books, and they're desperate for competitive play for them, just make a reserve league where they play as many competitive players as they can in as competitive manner as they can. Doesn't sound impossible, does it.

I thought they played their B teams in the League cup and fa cup already when they get drawn against lower league teams. I certainly wont pay to watch their reserve teams

Just for under 21s and senior players coming back from injury! That would be a fantastic idea. I would put that idea forward bit it's already in place and it did replace the original Premier Reserve League!

Here's one chairman in favour: Exeter City chairman Julian Tagg has backed plans for Premier League academy sides to play in the EFL Trophy. Sixteen category one academies will join the tournament next season. "The decision to support the proposal (strictly for one season only) was not taken lightly," said Tagg in a statement on the club website. "This is not a precursor to B teams entering the league structure, which Exeter City would be against should it ever be proposed." Exeter have never made the final of the tournament, coming closest in 2011 when they lost to Brentford over two legs in the southern area final. And Tagg feels the opportunity to play against the best young players in the country will help Exeter's players develop. The club has a reputation of blooding youngsters from its own academy in the first team, while players such as Matt Grimes and Tom Nichols have left for large fees in recent seasons. " The EFL Trophy will allow a unique opportunity for our own under-21s to gain genuine valuable first-team experience. The possibility of being drawn away to a category one Premier League academy/under-21 side at a Premiership venue, would provide both crucial player experience, and an event for fans to enjoy," added Tagg. "Secondly, the much needed reboot of the competition, currently without a sponsor, will provide increased revenue from central funding, match-day receipts and TV and prize money (which is double next season); an opportunity the club could ill-afford to lose out on. "Exeter City understands that many supporters may be surprised, or not agree with the decision. However, after careful consideration and discussion the club feels that it is important to support and explore ways to ensure the competition can survive." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36525673

Dredging this one up again, AL3 are looking at boycotting games and putting pressure on clubs to withdraw in light of the recent changes to raise the age limit of academy teams to 23 and allow 4 overage players in teams. www.againstleague3.co.uk/bteamboycott-signup/

I have given this matter some thought.
Over and over the idea of B teams playing us has turned in my mind.
I have written my thoughts of this FA scheme a million times, until I came upon a single phrase which sums up this multi faceted question:
Go f**k yourself, FA and large Prem clubs. Hard, with something large and sharp.
Thank you

Isn't the whole reason behind this to help our national team progress, if so, what's the betting Arsenal's etc Academy team will be made up for mainly non English players?
