No matter how attractive any game is (derbies, Wembley), I won't be attending a single trophy game (regardless if it involves a B team) until this BS is dropped.

It would be nice to hear something from either DC or the club on this. I'd genuinely be in two minds whether to go if we were going to put a strong team out. It would be harsh on the senior players if nobody turned up. Also why should we risk injury because some jumped up little sh** wants to leave his mark?

Further info leaked re. what the format will be. One legged semi-finals with team drawn out first being at home. One invited team in each group - will play one home match at the first team ground.

Wonder how far it is going to be 'regionalised'? Just south and north or regions within regions? If regions within regions will make our draw interesting are Southampton or Swansea considered south West and presumably we'd have 2 from Plymouth, Exeter and Yeovil in our group. Saying any of the above is interesting though is a lie as I'll be boycotting the matches anyway.

Is the draw split into north and south like it previously was?

Is the draw split into north and south like it previously was? Yes, it's regionalised until Round 3, when there will be 16 teams left.

It's not enough to just boycott the trophy games involving the B teams. The B teams don't care how many go, they just want their kids (and reserves) to have a run out.
A clear message needs to be sent to the FL/FA that this BS will result in attendances in the 100's. For those in favour of going, how will you feel when they start introducing them to the league? I really hope that DC fields a youth team and that we take the fine, although I won't count on it.

Manchester United have declined the invitation. Liverpool are thinking of declining.
Did they not even ask the teams if they wanted to enter?? Looks like they want to enter, as much as most of the fans want them too.
If they keep going down the academies, the sh** might get invited!
Think they will have to have a rethink again!!

There is nothing about any club declining in the normal media sources. I hope Manchester do decline though because there will be nothing more vomit inducing than hordes of their pathetic gloryhunters cheering their academy team to beat their local team.

In the Daily Mail this morning - what a farce! "Manchester United have declined an invite from the Football League to take part in the revamped EFL Trophy.
The new-look tournament which replaces the Johnstone's Paint Trophy was announced on Wednesday with invites handed out to 16 Category One Academy sides.
However, United have decided that they will instead focus their attention on the Academy League and the U21 Premier League International Cup."

Odd decisions as I thought it was the Premiership teams pushing to play in the EFL throphy, if they are not all going to take part why don't the Fl just withdraw their offer?

I am against the B teams in it, but can understand to a degree why the majority of clubs voted for it.
Attendances are generally poor for it and we have been told clubs hardly make any money in the early rounds especially. Rightly or wrongly they thought this idea might boost some interest and it was going to boost the prize pot.
Boycotting already poorly attended games wont make much difference I don't think.
Ignoring the B teams I like the principle of the group format and drawn group games going to penalties with the winner getting an extra point

If they can force this on us then surely they can force Man Utd to compete in it. But then again, wouldn't want to upset the big boys.

From the comments from the clubs who voted in it was for additional prize money offered by the prem clubs. £10k for each game and the gate receipts which are usually shared would be put in a pot from the B teams and shared between the L1 and L2 teams.

So when do we find out who is in our group?!?! You'd have thought they'd have announced that by now?!
