The problem is a load of dickheads will attend these games up and down the country to see their glory team play against a local side. Some people would by a lump of dog sh** if it has their plastic club badge on it. (see Ashton Gate for further details) Nice. A well thought out response there Hugo. So you don't think that fans will turn up to watch a 2nd rate team just because they have a prem badge on their shirt? Or are you still butthurt because i pointed out how you made yourself look silly on another thread by abusing someone rather than making a good argument?

What a joke! Straight forward enough decision though - boycott the games involving the B teams.

What a joke! Straight forward enough decision though - boycott the games involving the B teams. Good point. Its not enough to just boycott all games. We'll have to turn up for the games against Crawley, Morecambe, Barnet etc. to show that this is just a protest against the U21 teams not the competition in general.

Block the gates and have a massive game of football in the car park instead. Why don't football fans get a say at each club and the chairmen can then vote on what the general feeling is from each club. Why should the chairmen speak for all of us when this clearly is not any of our voices. This making English football better bull$hit needs to start from the top not the bottom. Rugby and cricket have got it right with restrictions on foreign players. Why can't football? Because it ain't a sport it's a monopoly.

We should register 11 fans in the squad this season. Play them against the kids. Yeah! Let's put out Bristol Rovers under 71's. Oh damn! I'm too old for that team.

Jeez, gotta be voting with our feet for this one! I'm very interested in how Hamer voted on this, we should all be contacting the club asking for a statement. Here's his e-mail address - I've also asked the question via Twitter

Given that the competition is poorly supported anyway you can understand why they might think it worth experimenting as it might generate some interest.
No good boycotting all the games as the crowds are poor anyway.
Boycott the B team games and get a good crowd for the other games

What an absolute pile of sh**. Mass boycott is the only way to go. I'll be disappointed with our supporters if we get any attendance at these matches. The problem is a load of dickheads will attend these games up and down the country to see their glory team play against a local side. Some people would by a lump of dog sh** if it has their plastic club badge on it. (see Ashton Gate for further details) Expect to see a load of kids wearing Man United shirts in the Blackthorn or whichever B team we end up playing.

I've signed the petition, I won't be going to the games and I'll be emailing SH for an explanation about how this benefits our club. I wonder what Jim Chappel thinks of this...

This is a competition that I've always wanted us to get to the final of and win. But imagine that we get to the final next year and we're playing against Sunderland U21. That would be rubbish wouldn't it?
I wonder what the fans' directors think of this. Are you there BSS?

Fwiw I've written to the EFL. I don't expect anything. I've tried to remind them that we are their customers, not PL chairmen.

Think we need clarification what's in it for FL clubs? Will they get a bigger share of the Premiership money for assisting them with their younger players development? What size of crowds do they expect for the B side games. Will their be reduced admission prices of season ticket holders to encourage them to attend/not boycott the games?
I would have thought most clubs would already had a pre-prepare statement to publish on their websites, given it now seems obvious it was always going to be approved.

As with all new soddin proposals lets hear the full details before dismissing the headlines. It may be good, at the outset it looks like the old sodin farts at The EFl have done something that is counter productive but as always lets see the what meat is on the bloody bones before tossing them in the brown bin.

I would have thought most clubs would already had a pre-prepare statement to publish on their websites, given it now seems obvious it was always going to be approved. Now found the answer to my first question: "The Premier League is also understood to have provided £1m to create a total prize fund of £1.95m, with bonuses awarded for each win." So an average of just around £50K on average for each club, hopefully more if we do well.

Been thinking about this - most fans may boycott the game involving the B team, but how many new fans will turn up to watch the opposition?
They may then see that Rovers aren't too bad - they might come back and watch Rovers again?
About the only positive that I can see!
