This weeks Bid on the Side features Mike Jay's 1987 book the Complete Record.
Mint condition copies of this book don't come available very often and would probably set you back over £100.
Unfortunately, this copy has been written one by original subscriber Eddie White, with comments such as "first game", " went with", Joe blogs last game etc, but also has corrections from the printed details. A brilliant book none the less
Included are several newspaper articles which could raise the price.
The other Bid on the Side item is a small Errea rainjacket in excellent condition.
All profits to the 50/50 fund.

I have heard a few people saying they are bringing their kids to their first "real life" game(s) over the festive period.
I remember how loud the crowd was for my first game v PNE and the pitch invasion!, the sand on the dog track and how mad everyone went when we scored. It was 1980/81 so didn't happen often! However I was hooked.
I honestly believe the crowd can play a huge part. Even if we are one down, Cov will be fragile and if we get one we can definitely get two, even in injury time.
So let's help roar the team on and hopefully some youngsters watching their first game will have a life changing experience and get hooked as well.

Just a reminder of the latest festive Bid On the Side items. The signed cards are totally unique (well, apart from the other two you can bid for!).
They may have been signed by Connor Roberts so as the Swans have given him a 2? year contract there could well be a future Prem/international signature on it.
PS, the signed cards were passed on by Keith Brookman and were signed by a match day squad around the end of Oct/early Nov, so not exactly sure which 16 or so players have signed (but includes both Chelsea lads apparently.

This week we have 3 separate cartoon style Rovers xmas cards featuring a blue nosed reindeer and a blue Santa, which have been signed by the match day squad inc the loanees.
Remember there are three separate cards so 3 separate items you can bid on. (I think some people have bid on the first one they found on eBay but no one has made the minimum bid of 99p on the 3rd card yet!
All profits to the 50/50 fund. Since we started this feature last season we have almost raised £500.

One of the many unsung heroes at the club.
He used to travel to Twerton on the special Rovers buses from Stapleton Rd with his grandson. While we waited he often used to talk about the greats and always had the faith that we would come back stronger.
Thoughts to his family at this side time.

Due to a volunteer covering someone else, I was able to sell down the Glos Rd pubs on Sat, but definitely won't be there tomorrow v Fleetwood, due to work commitments. Good luck to the regulars if you get the 50/50s from someone else.

As a programme seller it was good for me. I am usually rushing around after work before starting to sell around 1.30, so a chance to quickly grab a bite to eat and a pint was good.
I am usually very hungry by ten past three when I normally get in to watch.

Has anyone noticed that at this stage of the season last year, we had played nearly all the top teams in the table.
As the table stands, with the exception of Tuesday's opponents Fleetwood, Wimbledon (and ourselves obviously), we have played ALL the current top 12 in the first 15 matches.

The SC are a bit light of sellers tomorrow, so I will not be selling programmes or 50/50 to the regulars at the Vic, Draper's Arms or the Welly, as I will have to cover other areas.
As a big crowd is expected it is best to get to the Mem around 10/15 minutes earlier than usual to give yourself time to purchase your goods and avoid the late rush for the turnstiles. (Could be the biggest 50/50 of the season so far).
Good luck!

Beat Oxford 2-0 away in the FA youth cup. Another young Mehew amongst the goals.
One more win and we could get the big boys. I remember the 2-2 v Liverpool (lost on pens) in front of over a thousand at the Mem. Elliot Richards got two and Mark Cooper was oustanding. Can't understand how he only played a handful of games for Newport in the Conference based on this game.
Ollie Clarke looked excellent also, before the first of his (3?)really bad injuries. (How good would he be if he was not restricted by these?) - an extra yard of pace lost at least.
I recall the Liverpool keeper moving before each Rovers penalty and being at least ayard of his line for ALL our kicks.
Chelsea at the Mem in round three would be good!

This weeks BotS features a large training top signed by Danny Leadbitter.
Several Rovers items were donated to St Peter's Hospice to raise funds and awareness for this worthy cause. I believe that this top was made for Smudge as it has the number 2 on it but was donated after he joined Posh. (Cannot confirm this though).
The top did not fit the Rovers fan who won it in a St Peter's raffle, so they have donated it to the SC to raise funds for the 50/50 fund.
The other BotS item is a thin skull and crossbones design scarf.
More details on eBay.If you search "Bid on the side Bristol Rovers supporters club" on google it should provide a link to a historic article on the SC website and this should give you a link to Jamie Howarth's eBay link.
Last season the BotS raised over £350 and we are hoping that we raise a bigger amount this season.

I would expect a few stubbs to be handed in at the SC portacabin, or SC match day shop before kick off on Saturday.
If anyone is around Kingswood or the Mem during the week, they should be able to pop in with the stubbs and money.
