Bonham 6 - couple of good saves
Partington 1 - his positional play was of a man who had never played fullback before. Weak defensively and offered nothing going forward. Clarke would have done a much better job at right back. Leadbitter would had been a better attacking option (Had a good first half against Swansea U21. J. Clarke 5.5 Lockyer 4 - is this really an international player? Craig 4 - looked slow and nervous Martin 4.5 - had a few good games recently but struggled today
Lines 5 - wasteful O. Clarke 5 - tried hard but too many mistakes. The shot which hit the post could have changed things. Sercombe 5.5 - not at his best but better than most of the rest
Nichols 3 - not up to his recent standard. Offside a few times and no end product Payne 4.5 - In the first half was more involved than of late but had enough chances to ensure that we did not go into the break losing
Subs: Bennett 5 - a few good moments but no end product. Unlucky with the one that hit the inside of the post. Rodman 4 - did not add much Jakubiak 3 - was worse than Payne. Marcus Stewart explained in mid-week his faults and why he doesn't start. Was a reasonably explanation.
Crowd 6 Ref 6 Doncaster 8 - they had one of those days when things go right. Unlucky for us. Our performance was a long way from being as dire as people suggest. We had a decent number of shots (more than them), greater possession than them and a lot more corners than then. On another day with a bit of luck at the right times we could have won this game. Heads dropped in the second half and the quality suffered. Clarke needs to pick his technically best team and stick with it. Bennett, Rodman etc have the quality and can get us to mid-table with a bit of luck. Those without the quality need to go in January (Nicholls, Payne, Partington etc etc). Need a small quality squad. Maybe ten out, four in.

Bonham 5.5 Couple of good saves, not as confident as usual and didn't have a clue what to do when he went up for the corner at the end
Leadbitter 4 - a couple of good moments but defensively poor and crosses worse. J. Clarke 5 - tried hard but struggled Lockyer 5 - mixed bag - a few good things but looked lost at times and distribution very poor Craig 5.5 - looked a bit slow and laboured Martin 6 - great goal
O. Clarke 5 - looked out of sorts Upson 4 - his lack of pace meant that he was not tracking back effectively. Also looked slow to pass Sercombe 5 - had moments when he looked like he might come good but a lot of poor balls and defensively very poor.
Nichols 5 - not up to his recent form Payne 4.5 - looked like he was trying a bit harder but very ineffective. His family appeared to get into a heated debate with some other fans when he was subbed. Shame - we are all in this together.
Subs: Rodman 5 - a couple of good things but not very effective Bennett 4 - poor Lines 4.5 - did not add much when he came on
Crowd 6 Ref 6 Charlton 6 - better than us but we were still in with a chance of getting something out of the game until the last minute even though all our players are capable of playing a lot better

Bonham 6 - average performance, not much to do
Leadbitter 6 - gave good attacking performance in the first half. Quieter in the second J. Clarke 6.5 - coped ok. Missed good headed chance in first half Craig 7 - in control Martin 6.5 - thought that he had a decent game at centre back against Exeter and was ok today at left back
Bennett 6 - flattered to deceived. Missed one good chance and hit the bar when had a lot of the goal to aim at Lines 5 - poor compared to last week O. Clarke 6 - average performance Sercombe 7.5 - very good in first half. Faded in the second.
Nichols 6 - ok performance but should of scored at least one which could of changed the game Payne 6 - at least he appeared to try more and won a few flick ons in the air plus the penalty
Subs: Matthews 4 - did nothing to justify being on the pitch Jakubiak NOLE Rodman NOLE
Crowd 6 - gave support. If their goalkeeper had not made a worldly save from Sercombe and saved the penalty we would be saying that it was a good Rovers performance Ref 5 Scunthorpe 5 - The goalie and our poor finishing plus a bit of luck with the goals saved them from being well beaten

Watched the game on iFollow.
Thought that it was very disappointing and that Exeter fully deserved a 2-0 win. Cannot believe how bad Reilly was. Against a reserve defence he did nothing. Must be a reason for his being so ineffective after a good game against Coventry. Jakubiak showed a few glimpses of pace and skill but in this standard of football he should be tearing defences apart.
Thought that the other experienced players were average. Expected more from Partington. Joe Martin was adequate as a centre back. Menayese looked rusty but hopefully should get better with more games under his belt. Kelly did not stand out and should of done better for the first goal. Smith average performance. Russe the pick of the midfield (although Widdrington did not do too badly when he came on) but seems not good enough to challenge the existing first team midfielders. Walker some good touches for a sixteen year old. Time will tell in he can make the grade but a promising start.
Holmes-Dennis the one big positive. Didn't do much but his class was evident.

Smith 6 - very nervous start and poor distribution throughout. Did make a couple of good saves though.
Leadbitter 4 - didn't do much. J. Clarke 6.5 - average display Lockyer 6.5 - poor first half. Distribution poor which put us under pressure. Good in second half. Craig 6.5 - average game throughout Kelly 6.5 - looked the best defender in the first half
Sinclair 2 - silly tackle Sercombe 7 - looked threatening but silly mistakes O. Clarke 7 - poor first half but did well in the second
Nichols 7.5 - lots of good skill but a number of silly mistakes. Bit lightweight and didn't score but currently the best forward in the club. Payne 4 - Not on long but looked liked the Barnet defender had him in his pocket
Subs: Matthews 6.5 - good skill but lightweight Bennett 7 - different class to most players on the pitch but needs to perform consistently Lines 8 - made the difference. Ran the game. His after match comments showed that he is an intelligent player thinking how to influence a game
Crowd 4 - Barnet very small. Rovers quite quiet until the goal Ref 2 - very poor Barnet 4 - started well but the second half showed that with a minimum amount of brain power Rovers should be able to work out how to beat them easily. Nice ground for a non-league club. Good view. Bar very spacious.

Thought Clough played for Middlesborough ? Anyway I first went in the mid 60's. Very little tinkering then and the team picked itself - Hall,Hillard,JonesG, Oldfield Davis,Mabbutt,Jar,an,Brown,Biggs,Hamilton,JonesR. Sometimes Geoff Bradford would play, but he was close to retirement. My dad warned me that Rovers would never win anything worthwhile. I didnt believe him ! Brian Clough 204 goals in 222 appearances for Middlesborough and then 63 in 74 for Sunderland. Wish we had a striker with half of that scoring rate. Your mid-sixties side was one of my favourite sides. Great wingers - Jarman's skill to beat a full back matched on the other wing by the speed of Bobby Jones. They scored lots of goals as well. Alfie Biggs and Ian Hamilton at their peak was a prolific strike force and Farmer Brown was a sixties Stuart Sinclair. Guaranteed goals.

Rovers v Sunderland 1961. Lost 3-2. Geoff Bradford scored both goals for us and if memory serves me right a Brian Clough (he was definitely playing) hat-trick for them.

Bonham 6.5 - good saves but distribution poor too many kicks overhit Partington 5 - okish at times but not the answer Lockyer 5.5 - looked ok at time but the odd mistake plus poor distribution does not help us attack. James Clarke was better in his recent absence. Craig 5.5 - average game Clarke J 5.5 Sinclair 5 - tried hard but lacked the creative edge that we needed Clarke O 6 - tried hard but his slip led to the build up to the goal and lacked his shooting boots Upson 5.5 - better game than usual but lacks the pace to make a difference Rodman 5 - couple of good moments but can play a lot better Sercombe 5 - very poor by his standards Jakubiak 6 - looks the most likely of all our strikers to score but missed some chances and offside too often
Matthews 4 - totally ineffective Kelly 5 - okish but failed to stop the cross for the goal Reilly 3 - added nothing and real effort appeared missing. Tom Broadbent would have added more up front.
Ref 5 Crowd 5 Burton 6 Better side than us, deserved their win.

Bonham 8 - without him we would be in an even worse position. Great positional sense.
Leadbitter 6 - better game but still lots of wasted crosses J. Clarke 7.5 - good match. More solid than Lockyer has been of late Craig 6 - average Martin 6 - best game but not much of an attacking threat
Sinclair 5.5 - a few good blocks but wasted on the wing and did not create much Lines 6.5 - reasonable performance but dead balls could have been better O. Clarke 7 - at times awesome but also a number of errors Bennett 6 - in and out of the game but looked one of only a few players capable of magic
Reilly 4.5 - especially in the first half as ineffective as Nicholls and covered less ground Nichols 5 - put in a good shift. Cannot fault the effort but needs to score goals
Subs: Jakubiak 5.5 Didn't manage to score but looked the most likely of the strikers to do so. Sercombe 5 - looked like a fish out of water wide left Matthews 6.5 - couple of good runs and unlucky with the free kick at the end
Crowd 6 Ref 6 Walsall 7 - looked like a slightly above average League 1 side. If you added a goalscorer we looked a slightly below average League 1 side

For a tenner so log in and watch Tom Nicholls goals 👍 a great display and a gas win. I must stop smoking these Michael Jackson woodbines! I know about ifollow or how it works? Is it just as simple as signing up and paying a tenner, or is there a signing fee? Do you have to watch it on a PC or an iPad or is there a way of sorting it to your TV? Could anyone enlighten me on any of the above please? I would love to watch it tonight, but I may have to resort to our wonderful chairman’s dulcet tones! 😂 Cheers me dears! Yes Marshy very easy. Just register on the iFollow section of the Rovers website. Then just before kick-off go to the match centre on the website and click to sign up for the game. Pay £10 by credit card. Then watch the match. I use my lap top and just connect the laptop to the TV using an HDMI cable and you are watching the Gas on the Big Screen!! Word of warning it will not work with certain browsers. I cannot get it to work with Microsoft Edge but it works well on Google Chrome.

Disappointing that with all the effort put into the Development Squad and fielding a "strong" side we cannot beat a lower league team at home.

Smith 4 - doesn't inspire confidence
J. Clarke 4 - up against a good winger with no support. Lockyer 6.5 - thought it was his best game for a while - passing better Craig 5- struggled Kelly 6 - did well for a first game
Matthews 4 - disappointing after his performance at Wycombe Upson 3.5 - was a big problem. Lack of pace meant he lost his man on many occasions putting defence under pressure. Numerous errors. O. Clarke 5.5 - tried hard but lacked quality and too many errors Rodman 5 - poor, has the talent though, did not help much defensively
Bennett 5.5 - mixed performance of good and bad. Poor finishing Payne 5 - some effort but lacked quality on the night
Subs: Broadbent 4.5 - did not add anything when he came on. Looked shaky Nichols 5 - no impact Reilly 4.5 - no impact
Crowd 6 - good attendance by the Gas but not much to shout about Ref 7 QPR 7 - very clinical. A few very good players.

I thought that AJ and Reilly were worse than Payne & Nicholls. Got in each others way a couple of times (not surprising). Not convinced on brief experience of both of them that they will make the League One grade. AJ looked lost at times although I thought that he was okish against Portsmouth. Time will tell but surprised that DC was not able to get in better quality even with little money. Neither big enough to do the Payne No 9 role.

Young Pirates administration appears to be in a complete mess. At the first home game I went to the Young Pirates area outside the ground to renew my grandson's membership and enrol his sister. The area was being manned by the supporters club. Was told that I had to go to the club shop as the Football Club had insisted in the close season on taking over the Young Pirates from the supporters club. Tried today at the club shop and was told it was not their responsibility as the person in the supporters club had left in the summer and not handed over things to them. Asked how I can arrange the membership and should I go back to the supporters club but was told that nobody could join at the moment until things were sorted out and they did not know who would sort it out or when it would happen.
Seems we are missing out on getting the young fans involved.

Smith 5.5 - actually made a couple of good saves but poor kicking and did not inspire any confidence. Slocombe is far better.
Leadbitter 5 - some good pace at time but poor crossing and dodgy defending J. Clarke 6.5 - not a great game but reasonably sound and showed some attacking intent Broadbent 5 - not very commanding especially in the air. Seems to have lost confidence. Craig 4.5 - didn't impress as a full-back. Throw ins poor and adds not much going forward
Bennett 4.5 - very frustrating. Clearly has the ability to play consistently well but only showed glimpses of what he can do. Upson 5 - error strewn performance O. Clarke 4.5 - a few good moments but a very poor game. Did not show the leadership expected. One decent shot. Sercombe 5.5 - one good move in his short time on the pitch
Nichols 6 - played quite well in the first half. Great strike which hit the bar but a striker does have to score. Is also too lightweight for League1. Payne 5 - poor game today. Hampered by the early yellow card but could have been more effective
Subs: Rodman 5.5 - showed glimpses of what he can do with some good runs. With better dead ball deliveries we could have got something from the game Jakubiak 4 - looked totally out of his depth but wasn't helped by a very poor service Reilly 5 - looked dangerous a couple of times but looked a bit lost
Crowd 6 Ref 4 - another poor ref but could not blame him for the defeat Southend 4 - a poor side who could have had a bigger win but for Smith's two good saves and missing an open goal. Did not offer much apart from those efforts and it is frustrating that even an average performance from Rovers would have been good enough to secure all good points.

This appears to be very strange. Slocombe had a good season last time round and performed far better than Smith. I think that Smith is a great no.2 so hopefully Darrell has got an incoming loan lined up to be the new no.1

Smith 6.5 - quiet afternoon but one good save
J. Clarke 7.5 - did well in defence and a poacher's goal was an added bonus Lockyer 7.5 - did well against the Beast Broadbent 7.5 - commanding with good distribution. Marked down slightly as at fault for their goal. Craig 7.5 - probably the weakest of the back four defensively but did well and took his goal superbly.
Matthews 7.5 - did well, has great creativity which we need. Could be better defensively. Appears quite one footed. Upson 7 - did ok without being overly impressive O. Clarke 8 - good battling performance Sercombe 8 - explosive and dynamic
Nichols 7 - good performance but needs to score. Had one decent chance which should have scored even though it brought a good save. Payne 8.5 - led the line superbly. Won many balls that he had no right to. Great rapport with the fans. We desperately need a back-up number 9 as there is nobody else who can play this role.
Subs:Bennett 5.5 - is falling short of what we know that he can produce Reilly 6.5 - bags of energy and looks like he could be a good player Rodman - NOLE
Crowd away 10 - home 3. Great atmosphere in the away end Ref 6 Wycombe 3 - certainties for relegation. A bit worrying that only our defenders could score against them.

Good video. I was sat a few seats away from you (the first seat of the row). Apart from your dodgy shirt you could easily have passed for a diehard gashead. Pack up this ground hopping lark and just follow the Gas. You know it makes sense!!

Wael’s refusal to rule out UWE, when pressed twice by 20man was interesting, considering he has been keen to say it was dead in the water in previous interviews. I have been saying I am 99.99% confident UWE will be built and Wael's comments have not changed that. I know it's an old record and many on here do not believe it, but lets wait and see. By the way, is Wael at Mangotsfield today? Wael tweeted yesterday that something had come up and he could not make it today

Slocombe 5.5 - could not be faulted for the goals
J. Clarke 5 - great cross but not good enough to be a regular League One player Lockyer 5 - very poor, unable to marshall the defence and weak distribution Broadbent 5.5 - prone to errors but the only one of the back four able to pick out a good attacking pass Craig 4.5 - gave nothing to the team going forward and did not inspire confidence defensively
O. Clarke 5 - did not impact the game as one would of hoped Upson 5 - weak performance after a good one last week Sercombe 4.5 - not effective when playing wide especially on the left. Is so poor defensively that he is a liability as leaves the full back totally exposed to often
Rodman 5.5 - poor start but then showed glimpses of the player that we know he is Payne 6.5 - not as good as Ellis but in a good team will be adequate. Need a backup number nine in case he gets injured Bennett 5 - very weak performance. Went missing for large parts of the game and only showed glimpses of his ability
Subs: Lines 5.5 - improved things a bit when he came on Nichols 5.5 - not a bad performance but strikers need goals Matthews 5 - no real impact
Crowd 6 - quiet for most of the game Ref 3 - missed many fouls and very lenient Accrington 7 - a reasonable team who on the day were far better than us quality wise
