Thats my point.I would rather us finish 14th on 58pts in May and attack teams home and away regardless of us missing out on players this summer, then finish 12th on 61pts playing this way. Just have a go ffs.Not hard! Bring back DC's way of playing from 3 years ago and before. Really? Would you also rather see us finish 7th playing bold attacking football than 6th playing a tough no-nonsense rarely lose approach? Uh...I never said that. Our side, all round is a either bang on avg L1 side,or a struggling/relegation side. Our approach will result in us either going down or finishing midtable.I cant see who we are better in any area of our side to May unless our two loan forwards start scoring. A better question for you to ask would have been would I rather finishing 3rd and still make the playoffs then finish 2nd (even tho promoted).Lets not football and watching the gas is hobby and an entertainment platform.

But he has spent money elsewhere? Im sorry Im not a Cogs knocker,I like him.But at the start of the season we needed to address the winger situation. In fact it was the #1 issue we had.Yet he is still after that kid from Ireland. Win or lose today that line up with 3 DFM at home against wycombe and a shocking TN up top is awlful. This smacks of 1-0 either way.... they score and we could be well and truly shafted. Coughlan looking to keep it tight then have a go after 70 minutes...HUGE gamble! We should be attacking these from the first whistle. Play with f**king wingers and attack ffs!!!! I got knocked at the end of last year on here because we didnt play any as we never had any.Cogs has had all summer to get this fixed, he has choosen to not to correct this. I mean TN and 3 CFM at home to Wycombe! Dont give me the weather as a reason for this.Im glad I cant go today.😤😠 He has not CHOSEN not to correct this. Have you not seen or heard his interviews lately? Looks like he's been trying very hard to bring in pace and quality in the final third, but been thwarted by demands outside our budget. But he has spent money elsewhere? Please explain why? would love to hear why we would be sh**ting our pants? The fact you're here and the fact there's a 1094 page thread, with near on 4,000,000,000 views and 55,000 replies of absolute nonsensical, embarrassing drivel about us, even more than there is from ourselves on here, proves it. You always sh*t yourselves when the Gas are around. Now f*ck off, you sh*thead c*nt. Not sure I agree with the tone but I agree.lol There is something about our club that gets to some that follow BCFC. We are the oldest, thus Bristol's club.We have charactor, a modest yet very honest history.A stand out kit, and historic club song.Unquie club nicknames. People Know Bristol Rovers are even if we are sh**! City have nothing to offer apart from money and a Francise arena.

You should stay off that site, 99% of them are vile horrible people and would hate us to have anything remotely nice. They are not worth our time just leave them to it and worry about ourselves. Ive gotta agree. Ive looked on there from time to time as Ive been told that things Ive posted here have been copied and pasted on there from here! Lol ( As I guess this will- so hello fuckers👌👏👋😂) A good percentage of there fanbase are good football fans that just follow the other club from our city. While I cant go as far to wish them well in a footballing sense, fair play to them as they are just fellow footballing fans following there club like we do.👍👏 But that forum has a percentage of posters (a high number tbf) that will knock every aspect of our club, live in this dreamland that if we had any kinda proper investment into us, or did ever get a new built ground that our crowds would never grow and tap into our clubs potential like every other clubs has once they had got new arenas. Hull,Reading,Brighton,Swansea...etc and including them! They believe they have more fans than us in Kingswood and "Whorefield",and that we dont have any fans in south Bristol!..lol That us getting 8k- 10k at home in L1 playing in the sh** tip thats called the Mem (they remind us of our tents all the time) are awlful crowds! Yet for years until they got into the championship pre Gary Johnson took over in the mid 2000's that there Avg crowds in L1 were anything between 8k- 12k depending on how well they were doing, and the old Ashton Gate was a palace compared to where we play in BS7.. That we "stole" the Mem from Bristol RFC , yet they did nothing wrong and forget about 1982...☺ They talk about a gap for the last 18 years, yes they have been above us during that time but there growth as a Football club didnt start until the rebuld of Ashton gate - and that gap they went on about until then was due to us being completly sh** and not growing ourselfs, rather than anything they did as a football club. They are set up for the prem fair play.We get a new ground and abit of investment then we can get to where they are today. But if we ever had a thread with over a million views and a 1000 pages about them on here then I would want us to have a look at ourselfs.

With us having a debt of £17m + , how much of this debt was in place when the family bought the club ? How much of this debt was to pay off the debts incurred by Higgs and co ? (Wonga, Sainsbury) How much of this debt was incurred by the failed projects UWE 1 & UWE 2 Good question, Im sure most of the above was the reason we are £17million in debt and not DC's spending as some suggest! Im sure the level of DC's spending on transfer fee's and wages were not on the level as under Holloway, 20 years ago! Even if the latter did bring in more from transfer fees.

But where did DC overspend? Surely he spent money at a L1 level.? I Know many clubs spend nothing at this level on fees, but he never handed wages to 5/6 players on £10k- £15k per week did he? He never spent millions upon millions on transfer fees either He spent £200k on Payne and £350k on TN.But that is not the reason why we are £17million in debt. I don’t think we really need an itemised bill of where the money has gone in order to answer the question of why Coughlan has a shoestring budget. The accounts clearly show we are nearly 17 million in debt. What we do know is that spending under DC, in all areas of the club, was unparalleled and on our crowds and with the transfer fees brought in it simply isn’t enough to account for the expenditure on players fees, wages and admin costs. So now we are paying the price. Which is unfortunately as it should be. I wish we had spent less on admin and offices in London and more on a decent scouting network so that if we have our hands tied in terms of budget we could take a punt on the best local-ish players from the lower leagues who might have a chance of making it. I’m not convinced our head of recruitment has consistently added enough value, JCH aside. The development/Reserve/ Acadamy squad and scounting network is something this club -one of our size should have! It should be a given in fact! Wael was right in putting it back in place, and DC forcing this. The stupid office in London is another issue tho!

I dont get this budget thing...? I understand Sunderland,Ipswich and maybe portsmouth in this league having larger budgets then us given there grounds and crowds. But our crowds are always between 8k - 10k depending how results are going which is still good for league one level and the standard of the Mem. Bolton are f**ked so are not in the mix.Peterbourgh get smaller crowds then us but spend cash,Rotherham are bounching between championship and L1 but get around about the same crowds as us so I guess they would spend more than us.But who else? Coventry couldnt as they are f**ked in Birmingham this season.Maybe Oxford? Doncaster and Blackpool? And going on seasons past there home gates are smaller than ours. I see no reason why our budget shouldnt be at least a top half one with the aim of the season to be in the playoffs. This ragbag Rovers crap needs to go away asap or we will never progress. We are nearly 17 million in debt and given we have no significant additional revenue streams the only way we can reduce this level of debt is to reduce the budget. Obviously building a new stadium will help with that endeavour (although I note those on the other forum are heavily sceptical of how viable the fruit market plans are and see it as a red herring or worse a deflection from the poor recruitment over the summer) but until such time as we have a new stadium we are going to continue to be run on a vastly reduced budget from the spending of the DC era. Unless of course we can sell a player for millions like Peterborough but I’m not sure we have the resources to attract those sort of players in the first place unless we can come across one by a complete fluke or one of the dev squad turns out to be a world beater. This is the new normal, unfortunately. As much as I want to see us spunk money up the wall on better players even I accept that the overspending can’t continue and we have to now reap what we sowed in letting DC spend vast amounts on players like Payne and Nichols who weren’t up to it. But where did DC overspend? Surely he spent money at a L1 level.? I Know many clubs spend nothing at this level on fees, but he never handed wages to 5/6 players on £10k- £15k per week did he? You can not purchase and watch any ifollow games on a Saturday. The Tranmere game is a Tuesday night and will therefore be outside of the hours which ifollow don't allow. This applies in the UK, those abroad can pay to view any games at anytime. Some on here use some form of black art to be able to view, plenty of threads on here about that. Bizarre, as I brought last seasons home game against Plymouth which was on a saturday and watched at home in Kingswood as I ill so couldnt make the match.I always thought the away games were shown in the uk regards of the day. Thanks for update mate!👍 Anyone have a link to one of those "black art" links for todays game?

Pretty sure this was just the money they still owed us for Ellis. I find it laughable from Lambert that they hadn't paid us the entire feee for Ellis, yet he has the cheek to moan about money & transfer fees. He makes it out like poor little Ipswich are getting screwed by Bristol Rovers on money, when in reality they owed us that money & their playing budget is probably 3x larger than ours. Agreed, he's also trying to get his excuses in early ahead of an underperforming season and his ultimate sacking. To be fair out of all the bigger clubs that have dropped into L1 over the past decade Ipswich look like they are the one that are going to be here for a long time.I know leeds were here for period,as were sheff utd etc but they could drop down to L2 asap,as will Bolton but thats for different reasons.

Im sorry but I dont agree with this. How has our fanbase had overblown expectations? We're a club from the 6th/7th largest city in the UK, one that regularly gets gates of 8k-9k even when we are doing sh** like last season.Only Luton (a same sized club as us that play in the championship now) get the same type of crowds that we do compared to the standard of its clubs ground in the whole of the country! Our gates a outstanding given the standard of the mem. Most fans expectations when the owners came in were to have new stadium and training ground built and maybe for us to have abit of investment put into the playing side so that we could become a fixture in the championship one day.Ok there were some that hoped we were to become the next Man City but most just wanted to us to step into this century as a club. DC loved our club and maybe did expected much more from our owners, but where did DC overspend in the playing side of things,or GC for that matter? DC made some bad signings in his last 4 transfer windows at the club but the most the club has spent on a fee since wael and co have joined here is around £350k on TN and was the highest on by far. I think most fans hoped there would be substantial investment on and off the field but equally many recognised we have no right to expect the kind of investment some are demanding. I wouldn't say DC overspent but signings for £300k, £250k etc represent massive deals for any club who hasn't been able to tap into Championship parachute payments nor have an individual pumping money in to the club. Very good point my friend.Looking at it that way we have spent £300k here, and £150k there... which most other clubs outside the Championship bar -Sundeland etc cant do. My best mate is City fan and I honest dont know any other there players. But he was telling me that they are about to sell a CB for over £20 million.City have jumped from a club spending £500k - £1million in league One about 10 years ago and for two seasons 3/4 years ago? To selling a championship CB for £20 million! Its pure Madness.. and this is not a knock at BCFC but they are only a mid table - top six championship club.So the gulf between Championship and L1 is huge now and we have spent pretty big for L1 looking at it.

Reality of life under this regime hitting home now. The Reality is we don't have a pot to water in and never had, overblown expectations by both manager & fans have got us to this financial predicament and only deep austerity will get us out of this..... sounds a bit like our last chancellor.......... As much as I think a midfielder is needed I do also think there could be something in putting Nichols in an attacking midfielder role. We all say he doesn’t score enough but his creativeness at times is the best in the team in my opinion. I think the new Barnsley lad is gonna be a brilliant signing too, you don’t have Chelsea’s youth set up on your cv for being rubbish and I think the fact that Barnsley didn’t want to sell must mean a lot. Get off to a good start and I think we could surprise a few this year. UTG Im sorry but even making that suggestion about TN proves how sh** we are in that department. That fact we are going into a 3rd season "hoping" that Tom will turn good again one way or another is madness and a joke.Im a fan of GC and respect his work last season but our problems from last year was goals and we have not adressed that from a midfield standpoint. My gut is telling me that its going to be a long, and very, very boring season of football where we will struggle to stay up once again.

Think Lucas Tomlinson is being primed to take on the role we all hoped Kyle would excel in, think this will be a good thing once the youngster beefs up and gets stronger as he progresses, think his game time will increase in line with his growth spurt. Dont know how good this kid is as Ive not seen him play but if he is a good as people are saying he is then he will be sold for peanuts after a few games on the bench for us like Scott Sinclair and a few others that have been in our youth team over the years.Matt Macey and that kid thats a wolves but I forget his name.
