Chicken and Leek is nice. 3 bean veg pie is nice. HTY tells me the steak pies are ok. They are all too expensive though. Nearly £4 for a pie is a total rip off. I can get a really good pie in my local bakery for £2.20. literally better than half the price of the ones at Rovers. but the overheads of a bakery versus a football club? Huge difference innit.

To be 'Devils advocate' here, no-one is making derogitory comments about Nick they are merely concerned about his well being so in some respects their comments are positive. On the other side of the coin I am sure Nick has got a mirror in his house and knows he is carrying more timber than he should. Like someone said, he may have a medical condition that prevents him losing weight but then again he may be like me and eats more than he should and finds it difficult to lose weight because of weak will-power! Either way, maybe open discussions about someones personal issues probably isn't best discussed on this forum. How would we feel if it was about us? If you wanted to say something along the lines that he is crap at being an announcer (which he isn't by the way) then maybe that is 'football related' but as we are not asking him to play up front for us maybe we should draw a line under this and get back to the football issues. Just saying.

I assume the game will still be on. Not sure what it is like in Bristol but here in Street it has rained non-stop all night and not due to stop until this afternoon. Knowing how bad our pitch is at the moment do you think it will still go ahead?

So, I've read the DC out now thread, fed up with that, read the Let down from the top thread, fed up with that, read the Sinking ship thread, fed up with that, so thought I'd start a thread for those of us that actually still have faith in Wael, faith in DC, faith that things will come right for us re Colony, new or developed ground, and despite a terrible run of 8 games, still enjoy going and watching the Gas. I'm probably on my own with this. I'm with you on this one.

This Forum is beginning to sound and behave using the tactics that Millwall fans used to employ. For those youngsters who started supporting after the hooligan era, I'll explain. One Millwall fan would assume the attire of a Rovers fan and then get into the Tote End. For about 20 minutes of the match he would act and pretend to be a Gashead. Then, out of the blue, they would start punching and hitting all those around them. The confusion this created made Gasheads start fighting other Gasheads in the ensuing mayhem. So, one solitary idiot caused a major upset. That is what is happening here on this Forum. I suspect a Sh1thead has probably infiltrated us and is constantly spreading stupid rumours about takeovers, the financial concerns about the Al Qadi family, their family rifts etc. etc. NONE of us has any real idea what happens behind the closed doors of a board meeting. Maybe someone connected to the directors is leaking little tit bits every now and then (as with WW2 espionage.....release a few truths to give it credibility and then add loads of lies that you want to spread) but why can't we all just get behind our team. We have probably the best manager in League 1 (and probably the Championship!) We have a team of players who want to play for the Blue and White Quarters and , thankfully, we have a huge following of true Blue fans who get behind the team every week. So, can the moaners and the lie mongerers just give it a rest. You are playing into the hands of the Teds, who know we are coming up on the outside and they are running so scared they will employ any tactic to try to drag us back. When I started viewing this Forum is was useful, interesting, funny and well, everything you want in a fans Forum. Now, however, I log in, see the usual boring (We're doomed!!') topics. The longest I've spent on this Forum recently is now, writing this. Come on, let's get back to issues that are true and positive. Don't give the Teds any ammo to stir things up.

He taunting you because so many went? Either that or your brother doesn't have his finger on the pulse. Leave him to work it out for himself. To be fair, if he's a sh1thead then he probably has more fingers to choose from anyway!!

He hadnt played the ball at that point! This was the last point at which I could freeze the photo. It goes to show how close the margins are for the assistant ref. The next frame the ball had travelled forward quite a bit (however far a ball can travel in 1/32nd of a second- the frame speed). In the next frame the defender had moved forward as had Ellis. At the end of the day who gives a sh1t, it was a goal - given fairly and legally as in the best judgement of the linesman (bearing in mind the atrocious decision by an Assistant ref at the Charlton game!!)

I may be talking out of turn here but I am certain that the Al Quadi family will have studied, planned and sorted out all the possibilities of how the Mem will be developed. They will also know how they will get the best financial return from the new stadium. They aren't billionaires because they found their money down the back of the sofa! Maybe they are keeping their plans close to their chest because it is all part of the big bluff to UWE. I genuinely believe that UWE thought they were dealing with gullible, rich foreigners who UWE would be able to pull the wool over their eyes and basically rip them off. Maybe now they are in a state of panic and Wael announcing alternative plans is just a ruse to make UWE think they are about to miss out on a fantastic opportunity to have A1 facilities on their campsite. With no new stadium they are left with nothing. Yes, maybe they could put houses on the land and make some money that way but that is short sighted and in the long run will not benefit the campus. Build a state of the art stadium with loads of facilities for their students to use for many years is a far better option. I may be wrong but I am not 100% sure that the UWE stadium is dead in the water....yet! The family have been damned good to us and haven't let us down yet and I don't see why they would in the future. Let's be patient and see what happens. In the mean time I am going to carry on with a far more important task and that is to support the Gas no matter where they play.COYB UTG

We all took great delight at laughing at the Teds last season because of the poison dwarf. Do you not think they are now feeling the same about us? What expertise do any of us have in dealing with multi million pound businesses? What expertise do any of us have in managing a Div 1 football club? The answer is ....'Absolutely zero!' Yet some of the belters on this forum feel that they are in a position superior to our owners and manager. These belters have difficulty spelling and using grammar so how do they think they know better than the professionals that run our club. Your are supposed to be supporters i.e. you support and back your team through thick and thin... not slag them off after the first game of the season or when UWE think they can pull the wool over the eyes of our owners because they are rich foreigners. The Al Quadi family didn't get rich making stupid decisions and if they think the UWE deal is a bad one then why would they go ahead with it.

We'll have to start thinking up a nickname for him. To us Senior Service personnel the Army boys were always called Pongos. (no really sure why...maybe it's 'Where the army goes...the pong goes!?!?)

My mates son played football with Broadbent when they were in the Army. Says he is an excellent player. I trust in DC's ability to spot potentially good players.

I agree with you Gashead 79 but it is part of whole picture. We do need a new stadium..that is the first step, then we, as fans, need to provide the next step - the atmosphere. I don't doubt for one moment that we will do that. The stadium, the new training ground and facilities, the better running of the club, bringing in overseas players (not too many though) which I see has started, can only serve to build our club into a bigger, better team. We have a better set up, we get better players, we watch better football, we get to a higher division, we have better and more fans....and so it goes on and on. Having said all that, I am totally happy watching the Gas at the moment. Probably the best team and staff since the 74/5 season ...and maybe even better than them!
As for you Hugo the Senile.....bastard!!! :-) I bit!!

So you think that the Mem is a fantastic Stadium and that Ashton Gate is a dump? I am a true Gashead and I hate the fact that they ARE ahead of us with regards to the stadium. Homely and full of character the Mem may be it is hardly 'State of the art'. So the fact that I mention it means I must be a shithead? The fact that you can't see the difference says far more about you. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see the Gas look down on City from a superior position with regards to league position, stadium build - in fact, in every way. Read the League One FB page and see who quite a few voted as the worst away stadium. Wow, that's something to be proud of, eh? We need a new stadium if we want to progress - which has been stated by the new owners and DC. Hang on, you are disagreeing with them...then with your logic you must be Sh1!heads! Get real!

I know I am going to get slated for this....but....here goes anyway. Last night my son's team (Ashcott FC) booked Ashton Gate. The kids played a few games then the adults divided into three teams and played three half hour games against each other. They had the presentation in the Sports bar. I haven't been to ground for quite a few years - when it was a dump - but I have to say their revamped ground is bloody impressive. It is a big City ground (city as in town/area etc). They obviously built it for Premiership football. If I were a neutral and had to chance to play football at the Gate or the Mem then it would without doubt be City's ground. This now brings me round to our new owners - who have stated many times that they want to get the infrastructure right. I cannot agree more. It won't happen overnight but a new ground, marketed the right way (for concerts, weddings, parties etc, etc,) nice state of the art bars with large screens able to show live link football, state of the art training facilities ...we would then be able to entice better players, bigger crowds. We are years behind City in that respect. Yes, this season they have had a crap team, a crap manager and an owner whose petty mind thinks it is okay to buy your rivals star striker -not because you needed him but because you wanted to bugger up the Gas's promotion push - but they are building for the future with their ground and I pray that sooner rather than later we will start to catch them up. We will have one major advantage in that we can build our ground from scratch. They have had to update on the hoof. Ollie was right when he said they had three quarters of an impressive ground. The one original stand looks out of place and dated. Ours will be the dogs doodahs! I made sure I wore my Gas tie and one of the lads wore his Rovers shirt in the bar afterwards . Keep the faith...it will happen. Stopped reading at the second line. Shithead Trololol Gashead for 46 years if you must know. Obviously Hugo the elder......but not wiser!!
