I Have watched most if not all of the games this season including the pizza cup (must want my head read)!
quick conclusion of tis & the team after a poor first few games we picked up a better pattern of play culminating in three wins in a week of which AFC Wimbledon away was a superb attacking performance
then injury's to key players & covid struck and we slowly got back up to speed but are error stroon at the back and are being punished for nearly every mistake & up front are having plenty of chances just not converting
we should have thrown the kitchen sink at getting Stockley as its clear for all to see, the experience of our forward line is starting to show when we need them to perform
I can't think of many games where we have not had as many if not more clear chances on goal than the opposition so unless tis is gonna get his kit on and show then how to put it in the onion bag there is not a lot more he can do
As Obvious as it sounds now hopefully with daly sharing the load with hanlan we can start registering soon if that starts this weekend I think confidence will breed and we will be fine
also it will take the pressure off the defense knowing the only way we will get something out the game is if they keep a clean sheet and lets face it that's why they are league one defenders not champ/prem
hopefully Daly/Hanlan can find the target this weekend because we WILL have chances guaranteed

Agree Leahy was 'done' on his wrong foot but it happens at every level of football - you only have see Salah's goal against West Ham - very similar. Harries should have been steaming in to block the shot as he's meant to be covering in case this happens. I'm sure Craig or even Baldwin would have done so. For me, he's too flat footed and immobile. Granted he can pass well, but he needs to step up and make those blocks and tackles a priority. From what I remember it was know one else's fault but Leahy's he picked his man up wide near the edge of the box and kept shuffling backwards towards the 6 yard area making up the forwards mind not to do anything but keep going forward no pressure then when he was in point blank range drop a shoulder and smashed one at goal. which yes it was at Day but at point blank range all the other players are picking up runners in case he squares it like walsall said good going forward not so good defending

Window plain to all to see what's required underwhelming as per normal 3 strikers in the squad not one of them experienced at the art of consistently scoring at this level Other sides with 4-5 experienced strikers operating in the same financial restraints how can that be Its funny how all these other teams bar Bury - Pompey/Luton/Charlton/Bolton etc. have all survived from their lowest, most not as low as ours and have/will push on back above us I get we are in strange times and grateful to Wael for Financially supporting us but in business you need to speculate to accumulate and I can't see we've done that If we got a striker over the line that surly would have sold another 1000 or so passes tonight even if they couldn't play just for the "feelgood" factor I can't see anything but a loss tonight and it's going to turn poison in the aftermath Lets hope not UTG I think you'd have to class Zain Walker and Sam Nicolson as strikers, given the advanced role they've played under Tisdale. Which team has 5 experienced strikers in this division? Genuine question. Certainly looking at Charlton in the wrangle over Stockley I'm sure counted six Strikers in the mix not looked at many others as would just annoy me more I wouldn't count Nicholson as a striker he's a AM surly like Bodin and walker again potential granted but two seasons off being a regular

So 2 strikers that Rovers may have been interested in, have decided to sign for Scottish clubs. I make no judgement on the strikers' ability or the wealth/grandeur of the clubs north of the border; but what does it say about Rovers? Does it say we want young unknowns? Does it say we have too many registered players, and won't be getting anyone in? Does it say we really don't have a clue in the transfer market? Does it say we are the savviest team out there, and we know more than other clubs? What are your thoughts? My thoughts are We do want young unknowns on low wages hope we unearth a gem to help the team then sell on at a good profit ala Peterborough style too many squad players are a season or two away from being good enough regulars I personally think we have brought in some descent players an when we click we play some really good football but the cavate to that means most being younger make mistakes/ poor decision making/ under pressure key areas only experience will sort at a guess the last transfer window you would think we saved a massive slice of salary letting go high earners nichols/sercs/tone/jch/riley/bennett 1/2? etc. all must have been on good contracts with may be ehmer/nicholson/westbrooke on similar contracts so you would think there is money in the pot for a descent striker. it dumbfounds me how in the same league as us with the same so called constraints as us Charlton have got 6 marque strikers compared to us 1x young league1 striker 1x nat.south striker & 1x prem2 striker so in conclusion we need an experienced striker this window if nothing else to teach our un-experienced strikers the art of scoring. I think without this its going to be touch and go whether we stay in this division and pray on the magic of nicholson & oz to keep us up. Because if not it will cost us a hell of a lot more than 1 good signing if we go down Here's hoping UTG

Hi Westy could do with a bit of techy help long story this but here goes been trying to run ifollow on TV with difficulty not a smart TV runs fine on my iphone no buffering perfect but a bloody little screen to watch it so purchased a chromecast but will not connect no matter what. we have got other devices that connect fine but apple & google dont seem compatible downloaded and tried about 5 mirroring apps 4 didn't work 1 did with a bit of a delay played some of the highlight videos worked. as soon as i went to live streaming on a Saturday it put the header of the screen and the footer but a blank screen where the ifollow should be !! so last try purchased a direct cable from apple to HDMI plugged in played the videos perfect hardly a delay, on Ifollow bloody thing the same as the screen mirroring header/footer no picture we've also got a tablet of which we've done the things you suggest it will play it sometimes others the circle of death and we've worked out if we try to cast it, it takes up too much memory and the circle of death appears so thinking of purchasing a smart TV with 4k Streaming do you think that would work ? Saturdays are somewhat stressful at the moment let alone watching the gas hanging on :-) Cheers UTG Hey GB! First instinct is yes to grab a Smart TV - if you're able, it's the way things are going (and maybe you just need that last reason to get one!) Apple of notorious for their closed ecosystem, I think the only definite suggestion on that front would be to go for an AppleTV, it's similar to a chromecast but more of a little box. Pretty good stuff if you're an Apple household and I know for sure that's the best you'll be able to get that working AppleTV box would be a lot cheaper than a new Smart TV, and more use in the house if you're a iPhone/iPad family?! But yeah, personally if I could I'd get a snazzy new Smart TV and go through the in built browser Hope this helps? 🤓 Thanks Westy you've made my mind up

I bet he told the players before the game Saturday to put them in the wrong frame of mind so we would get a dicking and he could blame us !

If we play like we did the other night then we can take all 3 points. If not, they have the players to hurt us. Would take a point and move on from all the madness right now. One Step Beyond

Some area of the club is not coming out of this looking very good. Wael says it’s a top half budget, the manager says we can’t compete with Blackpool. I can’t imagine Blackpool’s budget is top 7, if so that doesn’t leave much room for manoeuvre for Wael’s claim. From my POV it’s not a top half budget, if it is then bugger me it’s been badly squandered. How can we have a top half budget and yet still lack a half decent creative player? As far as signings go I think it all depends on whether Bennett is deemed surplus to requirements and if he is whether anyone else will take him on loan and pay a sizeable chunk of his wages. Wael never mentioned the play off's or top 6 so I'm guessing by top half budget he probably does mean somewhere between 8th to 12th.
I think we need to keep Bennett and add another. Bennett is the only creative player we have and would already have an assist to his name if Clarke had finished our best chance at Blackpool.
We need Bennett and another creative midfielder.
We also need to get some pace into our midfield because it's far too pedestrian.
I agree with the Bennett scenario I have always maintained he was a good player to me I would push him up with JCH he certainly with his quick feet would get a few shots off and less face it his goal ratio is no worse apart from JCH than anyone we have here currently. He draws players too him when in dangerous positions so would free up JCH more as is going to be a marked man this season Then I would drop Sercombe & put Nichols in that attacking point of diamond midfield role
as for signings we might get the lad from UCD over the line but unless we let Bennett go I cant see we will have the wage capacity to bring in anyone but a loan/youngster

This is the bit for me. In this day and age, should we really be looking to build a new stadium in the City? The Council are doing everything they can to discourage people from driving into the city. It won't be long before there is something like a congestion charge, as in London. Even talk on this thread is about parking, and how to get there. The public transport infrastructure is truly dire in Bristol. An out of town site would be cheaper, more environmentally friendly, and it really is the way we should be going. nobby, why do you think an out of town site would be more environmentally friendly? Cheaper for sure, but surely building work, exhaust fumes and transport to the stadium in general would pollute the atmosphere just as much at an out of town stadium as an inner city one, in fact more so due to the fact a larger percentage of supporters would use cars instead of public transport? There's also the fact that the site is already industrialised and so building on it would not have a detrimental impact on the ecology etc as it will have been already been shafted during the original industrialisation of the area. I think it would be a far better option than out of town greenfield site
a isore ugly nineteen hundreds brownfield site next to arena site to be developed with private money to assist the council with redevelopment
transport links in place road/rail
with modern architectural technics could look fantastic certainly better than tall office blocks
assisted by automatic footfall for retail/pubs/eateries/hotels
not a residential area to upset locals
a lot of industry moving out of town for better access to ring road/motorways modern buildings etc...
bloody hell I've gone and sold it to myself

Speaking to a owner of a unit just outside the fruit market site even before rumours started. He told me BCC were looking to compulsory purchase his unit & I guess many others
In a bid to redevelop that area as they were looking to put top end type flat/suites in the Totterdown area which would be overlooking that industrial estate
so changing that area to more aesthetic looking modern stadia/leisure/retail/hotels would be very much on the agenda of bcc I would think
long way to go but lets hope it happens UTG

I rate Bennett he gets criticised a lot for being wasteful mis-placed passes etc.. but that's what creative players do they don't play percentages like our midfield at the moment
but he's a exiting player to watch with fantastic feet control. I guess a player like Bodin/lines that when we were in the predicament we are wouldn't battle when you need to grind results
I for one hope he comes back next season plays in front of THD be good to see that combination
Wellens obviously sees something as he's now a regular starter & Broadbean is not
