Mine too! What club is your son at? Warmley Rangers 👍 Thought it had to be - I'm the Chairman. Glad to hear he's enjoying it, costs us a fortune...

Liam's not on Rovers books anymore. He's been on loan from Gloucester City to a couple of clubs this season, and has got into coaching. Gloucester City are a club on the up, but but bloody hell don't they know it... He coaches my son and is very good at engaging the youngsters, along with being a really nice lad too. Mine too! What club is your son at?

Has been injured for a lot of the season but got a hat trick for Gloucester City today. They are in a play off position, so could potentially replace Yeovil in the National League. Leads and Phillips are also there as well as development players Ben Morgan and Liam Armstrong. Liam's not on Rovers books anymore. Interesting read another Bristol youngster who was attracted to a premiership club. Rovers & City loss again. Also did not know or realise Jude Bellingham has a younger brother Jobe a striker who plays for England U18s and on Birmingham City books. But for how much longer ? Competition is fierce. Go to any youth football tournament and you'll see scouts from around the country watching kids as young as 6.

Disappointing that some knuckle draggers still about. She probably one of the best refs we've had down the Mem this season. Also a fair few who don't shout out when the Neanderthals pipe up. As I posted on the Pompey match thread some muppet - an adult may I add - at the back of the east terrace decided it was appropriate to scream out 'you f'in spastic' to a Pompey player, possibly the linesman. As an M.S. sufferer with a spastic leg I didn't feel comfortable at first bringing it up with him. After a few minutes I did. No one, absolutely no one backed me up. OK they might not have heard my conversation with him but the original shout was that, a shout. Have messaged the club accordingly, don't want anyone hung, drawn and quartered but just educated. Am I guilty of joining in the Aberfan chants years ago, yes. I was probably 12 years old. Devastated when I learnt what I was joining in on and never did again There's plenty of adult-size toddlers in the world unfortunately

I must be the only person that didn't like the decisions that were made: Was too picky about the position of the ball. One free kick we kicked the ball back to a defender and was then made to play it again from a position about 2 ft away. I just couldn't understand that, there was no advantage. It was just a bit picky and broke up the game for Wycombe even more. I though the tackle was a red card. It was from behind, reckless. Absolutely no intention of playing the ball and could have caused a nasty injury. The corner debacle was exactly that. There is no way the ref could have seen from that position if it was inside or outside the quadrant. She then went over to look and wasted even more time. I think the biggest issue I had with the whole situation on Tuesday was that I was sober. Don't watch Rovers sober kids, it does strange things to you. All refs are picky over position of free kicks, as it's something they get marked down on. I thought the tackle was a yellow, and it was right in front of me. Reckless yes, but not excessive force.

I've been running the line for 15 years. I keep up wit play. I still have to guess sometimes!
But yes, general consensus around me was that most of the ref's decisions seemed correct, and overall was decent. Not perfect, but much better than most.
There was general annoyance when our players surrounded her after a Wycombe foul that led to a yellow card. It was clearly a yellow and no more, she had her hand in her pocket, but our players decided to surround her for no reason, actually delaying her showing the card. It's a yellow lads, stop being idiots and get on with the bloody game

Sorry but you are wrong. Taking loan players is that best way to go for a club like ours- just ask Plymouth as half their team are on loan too. it is all very well Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday buying players- but look at the size of the crowds and how much they are splashing out to get them. Elliott Anderson and Connor Taylor were key players for the Gas last year but the only reason they came here was because of the loan system. We would not have Coburn and i suspect that we are soon going to find that the 2 youngsters signed this week will be impressive once they get used to the physicality of League1. The difference between the Championship and League 1 is huge and whoever gets promoted will more or less need a new team to survive. If however all the players are under longer term contracts then you are stuck with them even though that are not up to the required standard. When the loan players go back to their clubs at the end of the season then you can sign at least 5 new players capable of playing at the higher level. You are correct of course in that Yeovil got themselves into a pickle - but that was not just the loand players You think I am wrong and your opinion has many likes. I am not rigidly stuck to my opinion but your reply has not convinced me I am wrong. With others mentioning sustainability and Wael financing the club, surely there has to be better balance between loan players and sellable assets? I understand that it is possibly less risky in some ways; if players do not make it you can return them. The problem as I see it is that if they are successful it will only be for one season and you get no material gain. Coupled with that, you are guaranteed to have to rebuild your squad every single season. I do not see how that helps the club in the long term and no one has been able to allay my fears. Sorry to jump in, but I guess the material gain for the club is not being relegated. It's self-evident that they must be better than any permanent players that we could get for that position, who are available and who we can afford. If all other clubs are doing that, then what choice do we have if we wish to be competitive? Having a quick think about previous seasons, our relegation seasons have often been associated with not having many players on loan from prem/championship clubs.

New Rovers Defender JARELL AMORIN QUANSAH Born 29.1.2003 Warrington Height & Weight 6’ 3”; 12 st 9 lbs Centre Back Career: Woolston Rovers; 2008 Liverpool (professional, 4.2.21).20.1.23 Bristol Rovers (loan Calm, focused and strong, Jarell Quansah will hopefully offer precisely what Joey Barton’s Rovers side has been lacking in defence in the spring of 2023. The teenage right-sided central defender and occasional right-back joined on loan from Liverpool, where he had come through the ranks and, even if he had not made the first-team, had been an unused substitute as the champions drew 2-2 with Spurs in the Premier League in December 2021. “A man mountain”, according to the Reds’ Under-18 coach, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, Quansah had helped Liverpool win the 2019 Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup, had captained the Under-18 side to the May 2021 FA Youth Cup Final, which was lost 2-1 to Aston Villa, and had captained the UEFA Youth League side in 2021-22, playing for the reserves as they competed in the Premier League 2 as well as winning the Lancashire Senior Cup. Eligible to represent England, Scotland, Ghana or Barbados, he scored once in two appearances for England’s Under-16 side, played three times at Under-17 level and once at Under-18 before scoring twice in eight games in 2021-22 for the England Under-19 side. One of these goals came eight minutes from time in the semi-final of the 2022 Under-19 Euros in Slovakia, heading home following a corner to defeat Italy 2-1; in the final, he set up England’s equaliser, as the Lions ran out 3-1 victors over Israel after extra time. Quansah was chosen for the Team of the Tournament. Samuel Quansah senior, his grandfather, had played for Ghana in Olympic Qualifiers before moving to England in 1958 to study and playing in the early 1960s for Stalybridge Celtic; Samuel Quansah junior, who played for Abbey Hey, married a Scottish girl and they had two sons, Jarell’s elder brother being Keenan Quansah, a right-back at Southport. Compiled by Stephen Byrne Stay Healthy and fit you will be a popular player if you stop goals being conceded ! Interesting to read, thanks

We thank you for your patience over this period, and we look forward to delivering an improvement as you continue your journey with us.” Please note as we cannot guarantee delivery in time for Saturdays match, so for those awaiting new cards, we will once again, be sending e-tickets. All grassroots football cancelled by the FA. Absolute farcical overreaction. Kids getting their games cancelled will go to the cinema, be dragged out shopping by their parents, go to McDonalds or sit on the X boxes all day instead - unless of course they do what the FA presumably expect them to do which is sit indoors in their funeral attire looking miserable. Yes. I’m a bit gutted for my son, who was due to play his first game for his new team tomorrow. They are still going ahead with training so seems a bit unnecessary. I can see why there might be a reason to cancel the bigger events if there’s the possibility of dissent (but I don’t agree with them being called off), but I don’t personally see why playing kids football matches is lacking in respect, when cricket and horse racing events, to name just two sports, are going on over the weekend. Who does he play for bud?

As a chairman of a local grassroots kid's football club, totally agree. What a great opportunity to talk to the kids about their country, the monarchy, pride and respect, and how they are part of something much bigger than them. Wasted. And that can't be done without playing a Match? Without a match the coaches won't see them. It's not just matches cancelled but all grassroots football activity this weekend. A minutes silence adds ceremony and a focal point around any discussion. When we've previously had a minute's silence before a game, Remembrance Sunday or a bereavement at the club, that's exactly what's happened, and I think it's been good for the kids. Plus the opportunity for parents etc to get together and talk about it. There was a guy on the BBC just now saying about people coming together in community groups. Well the biggest community groups in the country are grassroots football clubs, and the FA and the Government has closed them for the weekend.

Looking at the teams for next season, the team are going to be doing a lot more traveling. Whilst still being a regional division, it covers the whole South West. Yes, through the years I've seen a number of clubs go straight back down or even fold, due to players leaving because of the extra commitment. Won't happen to Rovers of course, different kind of setup.

I would like to congratulate the Gas Girls for their second successive promotion and I would like to remind everyone just what an amazing three years the Gas Girls have had. They started off in tier 7 of the Women's game, and next season will play in tier 5. Impressive stuff. They have caught up Forest Green Women and will play them in the league next season (and next month in a friendly). Season 3 – 2021/2022 South West Regional Womens Football League – Northern Division Played 16 Goal Difference 65 Points 43 League Position 1 Season 2 – 2020/2021 Gloucestershire County Womens Football League – Division 1 Played 6 Goal Difference 31 Points 16 League Position 1
Season 1 – 2019/2020 Gloucestershire County Womens Football League – Division 1 Played 10 Goal Difference 32 Points 30 League Position 1 I am really looking forward to the double header against Forest Green, I hope that people stay to watch The Gas Girls. The Gas Girls - ChampionsIt's good stuff, and testament to the local pulling power of the Rovers name. Next season will be their biggest jump so far. It's pretty common for teams to go straight through the regional SW leagues, but only 2 in the last 9 years have managed it in the Premier - Yeovil Town and Buckland Athletic. Hopefully Rovers will the the third to do so, it'll need that pulling power to keep bringing in women of higher ability as they progress.

5th level so a way to go. They had to start from scratch. Almost, they were allowed to join at tier 7 rather than 9, by vote of the other GCWFL clubs. To be fair they were happy with that, they had zero players when they applied and didn't know how popular the trials would be. WSL will be a stretch, there's an element of franchising, you have to have certain facilities and finances. Below that there's the likes of Tottenham and Southampton, high standard Also regionally they'll start bumping up against Keynsham, who have an excellent female setup
