How many levels is that from the WSL ? It would be great if we could be better than the 82ers in something other than.. Not being cheating bastards. Not being arsonists Having less fingers on each hand than them. Not dragging our knuckles on the floor when we walk. Not turning our backs on our club in its hardest time. I’m not sure our men’s team will be higher than them again in my lifetime. 5th level so a way to go. They had to start from scratch. Almost, they were allowed to join at tier 7 rather than 9, by vote of the other GCWFL clubs. To be fair they were happy with that, they had zero players when they applied and didn't know how popular the trials would be. WSL will be a stretch, there's an element of franchising, you have to have certain facilities and finances. Below that there's the likes of Tottenham and Southampton, high standard

If anyone's daughter, niece, granddaughter etc is inspired to try football by Rovers' success or by the Her Game Too campaign, I'm setting up a girls' section at Warmley Rangers FC, based in Oldland Common. Message me for details.

Congratulations! I got my 8 year old one of their shirts for Christmas and I've finally signed her up to a football academy which she has been desperate to do. Am I right in thinking the Gas Girls were walking the league during their first season only for the whole thing to be cancelled due to Covid? So is this their first promotion? They were promoted up as champions from the Gloucestershire County Women's Football League last season. This latest success is in the South West Regional Women's Football League Northern Division. Next season they will compete in the South West Regional Women's Football League Premier Division (5th level of pyramid). The jump from the GCWFL to the SW North is not a big one - teams often go up at the first attempt. The next division is a bigger step up, but the pulling power of the Rovers name goes a long way in the region.

Every single non league club has a player who's unbelievably good at football, but has a massive arse

World Cup hero Geoff has a birthday today. Reading a report of this highlighted a fact that his father Charles Hurst was a pro footballer centre half who played for Bristol Rovers from 1938 - 1943. I cannot ever recall this being mentioned before. As can be seen it's mainly the war years so can't find out how many games he actually played. I'm sure there is someone out there with the answer westhamfans.org/content/west-ham-wishes-happy-birthday-sir-geoff-hurstWon the World Cup and seems a nice guy who never had it easy in his post playing days but still smiles and does not grumble. Happy birthday Geoff and many more! Met Sir Geoff on an FA bash, lovely guy

How many leagues would they have to get promotion from to be in the same level as BCFC women ? They are currently in the 6th tier of the football pyramid. South West Regional Women's Football League (Northern).
Only four divisions behind the old team.
Gloucestershire County to SWWFL north isn't much different, lots of teams go straight through. Some big increases in quality from now on, hopefully they can overcome them.

Thanks 😊 thought it wasn’t long ago that he left lol It's pretty common for ambitious Academy coaches to flit about different opportunities to learn, early in their career. Think of them like contractors

My reading of the above is that this all revolves around Private Showers. 😂 I prefer Private Browsing

A decent appointment on paper. Potentially the best in a very long time. Leahy. I liked him, but as a captain I think the appointment was desperate because of lack of candidates. Ehmer. No comment. Alfie. Too young. Ollie Clarke. Again, I liked him but not as captain material. Locks. Too quiet for me as a captain. Probably my turn to defacto captain in recent seasons would be Tony Craig. Just an opinion, of course... Lockyer's record as captain wasn't too bad though

Ask your daughter if she can explain the excess deaths. Well treatments and operations getting cancelled and higher suicide rate didn’t help. I don’t think we’re saying COVID don’t exist a d people didn’t die from it what we’re saying is the figures aren’t correct. They even say now on the figures died with in 28 days of testing positive not every one of them from COVID. The average deaths from other illnesses such as flu went down. Figures, stats and people working front line show the deaths from COVID are reported higher than they are. I’m not a COVID denier or anti vaccines I don’t believe the earth is flat or that 5G is frying us. Take a look at the ONS figures instead. these are not 'within 28 days', they are deaths where a doctor has mentioned COVID-19 on the death certificate. There are statistics on whether COVID-19 was recorded as the primary cause, or a contributing factor. Before vaccination, over 90% of the deaths registered as involving COVID recorded it as the primary cause. It's now dropped to 70-80%. www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsregisteredweeklyinenglandandwalesprovisional/weekending2july2021There's no official stats on suicides in 2020 yet, they are due to be released in September.

I think Joey needs to take the '24 year olds only' filter off of his search crteria, we must be missing out, only signing players who fit that. If players aren't good enough by time they 24 then they never will be. Wasn't Jamie Vardy playing in the Conference at age 24?

Still think we are lacking an out-and-out striker. 😘 No doubt we are, just hate the terms modern day players are called. A team's centre-forward has traditionally worn the number 9 shirt since 1928

I see the teds woman's team got relegated do the gas girls go up a league or do they stay where they are ? I believe they are promoted to South West Regional Women's Football League where they will presumably go into the Northern Division, then only one promotion away from competing against the likes of Southampton and Exeter City. Couple of local games to me next season against Weston Mendip Ladies and Weston Super Mare Ladies FC that I'll be watching. There's no automatic promotion or relegation this year due to disrupted season (Rovers actually only played, I think, 4 league games, winning 3 and drawing 1). Promotion is by application and has to be approved by the relevant committee. I imagine that Rovers have applied, and hopefully it will be signed off, although by no means certain.

who should we be looking to sign in the summer i like marcus maddison but got a few off feild issuses so maybe not Maybe not. Going to be interesting to see what type of player we go for, anyone think our policy of developing young talent might be abandoned after one attempt? Going to be a lot of players looking for clubs as finances are tightened especially if crowds are kept away/restricted in number If Wael is serious about a quick return there should be scope to bring in some quality but it all depends if we can shift some high earners. Going to be a busy summer! What our previous previous manager didn't realise is that the best way to develop young talent isn't to simply fill the squad with young players and hope for the best. They need the right mentors in the team to learn from - Tony Craig being a great example, as was Lee Mansell. Even Fergie's young team learned from Pallister, McClaire, Irwin, Sheringham, Keane. I listened to a great interview with Paul McGuinness recently where he explained how it's the job of senior payers at Man Utd to pass on the culture and methods to the young players.

I still fail to see how Barton can legitimately be blamed for this mess. Have results massively improved since he's been here no but he's working with a squad built by 3 separate managers, precious little time on the training ground and a lengthy injury list. If we look at the previous managers Garner in his tenure had 2 transfer windows a full pre season and the ability to bring in 14 or 15 (??) new players. Tisdale was admittedly hamstrung by the same lack of training time but knew full well what the squad needed and did nothing. Not exactly sure how anyone would have been expected to turn this season around, we've paid for huge mismanagement by two managers and a head of recruitment whose insistence that this squad was a good one looks more ridiculous by the day. Theres still a glimmer of hope of course but whatever happens Barton has to be given scope to build his own squad, hopefully without much interference from our esteemed head of recruitment We have been indelible for a long while. Disagree, no one player has really left their mark.

A few years ago I spoke to a former player who I knew personally, a few months after we were relegated to League 2. He told me how he'd been in a deep, dark hole all summer and he didn't know how to get out. Not long after, he split up with his missus. Of course they (usually) get paid well, but football comes with a lot of pressure, as does life generally, and it's all so gladiatorial that it can be easy to forget that they are human Yes, it’s an unusual career where you spend it in public view. Even at the smallest club you will have a public face, forums to face who will be fairly unforgiving all the time. It’s something most of us don’t have to face and as you say it’s very gladiatorial and I’d say fairly “macho” to use an old term. I was a headteacher for nearly 30 years in several schools and come the end the Facebook groups parents formed could, occasionally, start some rumours or complaints and would have to be answered and rebutted. It could get stressful but fortunately only happened rarely. This was a tragic event and my sympathy goes to the young man and his family and friends. I hope they are getting all the support they need at this time. RIP. UTG! Add to that the ambitions of the players in the knowledge that they have only a short few years to fulfill them, and the frustrations that football is not a science - some years they might be doing what they've always done and gone backwards for no apparent reason. The player I'm talking about went from knocking on the door of the Premier League to League 2 in two seasons, and he honestly didn't know what he'd done to deserve it. A lot of pressure

Is this what he means? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_ResetWhat does Barton know about macroeconomics, the fourth industrial revolution and the movement of shadowy figures conducting world events that we don't?

Top stuff. Interesting on Director of Football point for TW. From what I have read about PT it sounds like he not the sort of manager who you need/ want that role, he sounds like he likes to have total control. Wasn't Steve Perryman rather famously the DoF at Exeter when Tisdale was there?

You wonder if Ali would be in against teams like Northampton / Burton due to he size on set pieces and then maybe Dave when the game is more open or opportunities for Daves strengths... certainly interesting dilemmas to have Who would of thought 2 seasons ago this conversation would even be happening. "Who do we play? they're all so good?" Even the Garner outers have to admit he's got some amazing players in Who'd have thought that having a recruitment department would improve our recruitment
