Brainwashed by watching the top sides in the world and thinking he can implement that style in to his team. Ludicrous. Wasn’t that the BG ethos 🤔 I don't know if he's still got the same ethos but whatever ethos he has, it's still not working for him, got sacked again today I see.

we will still finish above them this season. They fluked that one with masses of assistance No you won’t. We were poor today. Ever consider it may have been us that made you bad?

Anyone know if this is pay on the day, can we buy e-tickets now? I live in the NE but I'll be staying in Lincoln overnight Friday so thought I might pop down the A1 to watch us, can't pick a ticket up from the Mem for obvious reasons and too late for it to be posted. I believe you can pay on the day - just need to buy a ticket from the ticket office at the ground (card only). That was the arrangement last year as well. Cheers mate

I just read some more posts on the Wigan forum. Some more even handed posts which said basically we play the kind of football they are trying to play, but we just did it better. I think that was the right analysis. The first 30 mins it was clear Wigan’s approach was the same as ours but the difference was that we actually played it out from the back successfully and they struggled to. Also, our forwards were all over their back line but they didn’t press anywhere near as much and let us have the ball much more. They looked a bit like we did last season. Consensus is that we were clinical, up for it but Wigan were a bit weak and didn’t offer much resistance. I think that’s fair analysis. I would point to several moments where we had some incredible one touch stuff which carved them open. Thomas’ goal was one hell of a move. Just shows when we can move the ball quickly we can destroy quite good teams. Possession: 50/50 today. Not the 70/30 as usual. What will be absolutely key to getting out of this league is Joey and the team figuring out how to beat the low block. We can see clearly what happens if teams try to play our game and fight us man to man - we smash their heads in, basically. We are very good at actually playing football. What we must figure out is what happens when we fight a slugger who keeps his guard up and throws the odd haymaker. I was thinking the same thing, I think we're capable of playing the 'footballing' sides and beating them quite often, it's the ones that sit back and invite us to break them down we need a way of playing against. As the team clicks, as it clearly did yesterday, then we might not need to change things but we have to learn to win ugly sometimes.

I do not believe that Belshaw is better than Nigel Martin. Never saw him play. We sold him for a million in 1989 to Palace and he went on to play for Leeds and Everton, oh and England 23 times.

I just saw one of those “all time XI” posts and what I notice is that they generally stuff everyone in based on talent. So you have maradona at left back or ronaldo in centre mid. So, thought let’s make a Rovers XI but actually trying to get balance. I’ve also considered the actual ability. Sure Lee Mansell and Sinclair were great but they were playing in the conf and L2 mainly so I’ll be picking what I see as the best potential team in my lifetime with the right balance. Sadly for many of you I can’t remember when life was black and white so you’ll have to write your own soliloquies on David Williams or other guys with stupid haircuts 🤣. Snake omitted (obvs) Parkin Pritchard Tilson Taylor Challis Bodin Holloway Lines Archer Stewart Lambert Bench: Hayles Cureton Campbell Carryol Walters Elliot Belshaw I do not believe that Belshaw is better than Nigel Martin.

You literally can't get anywhere less out of town than the Fruit Market, and that's the only one on the table at the moment (no matter how unlikely it now seems). I do agree though that we should redevelop the Mem, I know I've banged on about this before, but we should re-orientate the pitch 90 degrees, build a new east stand behind the current one then in the off season dismantle the old east stand, re-orientate the pitch, use the current west stand behind the other goal, extend the temporary south stand along what would then be the side touchline, and either extend the Thatcher's or add a temporary stand in the space up to the new East stand, giving a capacity of between 15, and 20,000 depending on how big you build, then redevelop each side as and when. I reckon that the footprint at the Mem is roughly similar to Easter Road, Hibs ground, that's a great ground, just over 20,000 capacity and the option to fill in the corners which I think would take it up to around 27,000. Sounds great but: -We are struggling to build a temporary single lift structure at the moment. -Why do we need a ground with 3x our current capacity? -The objections to this would stop it in its tracks. -It won't happen. I doubt it will happen but I doubt even more that we will get a brand new stadium that we own and get all the income from. Where did I say that we were going to renovate it into a 30,000 seater stadium? I specifically said redevelop as and when we need to a 15,000+ capacity, we've had planning permission for more in the current site. If you mean my reference to Easter Road, I was just giving that as a comparison as to what could be fitted into our current site

If you say so. It makes us a laughing stock Along with other recent balls-ups Does it? Doesn't worry me in the slightest what others thinks of the Rovers. Couldn't agree more, and apart from the 6 fingered inbreds I doubt anyone else has that much of an opinion of us anyway, other than they tend to think we have great support when we go away.

Let’s just rebuild the Mem. Old school stadiums are much more “romantic” anyway. Out of town bowls are boring. As an interested neutral, I support neither England nor Scotland, I tend to agree with a lot of comments on here that Anderson is just trying to get international football, a lot of folk would after all. For some players, they'll only choose 'their country' like Ryan Giggs, could have played for England but chose to play for Wales, but for others it's just a case of being an international footballer, if he chooses Scotland it's guaranteed, if he chooses England, he may never get the chance. Interesting that he pulled out of the squad though, maybe his family or Eddie Howe's had a word or something has come from the England set up.

Will Mark Kennedy help The Imps to succeed? Does the direct football style lead to promotion? SOME INTERESTING OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE 23/24 IMPS. In their games so far their possession stats are: 35 * 29 * 29 * 42 * 53 * 35 * 30 * 30 * per cent. They are unbeaten in their last 7 games and have conceded only 3 goals in that spell. In their match against us on Saturday SIX of the starting team were new to the club. The height of these players was: 6'2" * 6'3" * 5'10" * 6'2" * 6'3" * 6'6" * The FIVE smallest players on the pitch were in the Bristol Rovers team. It is no wonder they specialise in long throw-ins from all angles. Josh Grant's headed goal is surprising in the circumstances. Should we copy their approach? Didn't we have that under Coughlan, no doubt it was successful but crowds were poor despite the success and no one thought it would continue, I seem to remember everyone thinking the bubble would burst at some point, and we had JCH.

Does anybody know anything about this Posh lad? Is he right footed? Given that Joey played (not so well) for Glasgow Rangers, this Posh lad is unlikely to be Timmy Left Footer. 😎🏴 Ummm Barton went to St Thomas á Becket RC High School and started his youth career at Everton ..

Certainly did in 2007, kick started the run to promotion That little period from the FL trophy final to the play off final was my favorite time following Rovers. I think after that final we only dropped points on one occasion, winning all the other games, we were unstoppable! EDIT: I've just looked, we played ten more matches after that final, winning eight and drawing two! I thought that, went to the wire at Hartlepool, then away leg at Lincoln and Igoe in the last minute at Wembley, but then there was Dagenham and Lee Brown, would we ever see the like? 2022/23, 'hold my beer', we'll all remember the Magnificent Seven v Scunny but the week before at Rochdale made it. What is it with Rovers, every promotion I remember has been amazing, they all have had an amazing story, even back to 2nd May 1990, we just don't do normal promotion!

Six out of the last ten winners all went on and played in the championship. Never all stayed there mind. But if we boycott the u21 teams and back the other games then we could be on for a good run in it. It should be in our plans to win it as we also climb into the championship 🏆 UTG Success breeds success - a good run in the Trophy could spill over into the league. Certainly did in 2007, kick started the run to promotion

I too filled in a feedback form after the Barnsley game and had a response from Tom Gorringe timed at 01:50 hours after the Charlton game! It was a point by point and carefully considered reply to all my points. One of which was about the the pasties at the end of the West Stand (dry and burnt again) and how slow the queue had been moving (so that people gave up). This had also happened at the Chesterfield game on the East side. The club is losing money here as people aren’t bothering. Improvements are planned I was told. I was also told the season tickets will have additional options next season and should be issued sooner. Yes please (but like the new stadium, I’ll believe it when I see it). You have to be an optimist to support Rovers for 61 seasons but it also makes you a cynic. Completely unrelated, this really is a genuine question, what do you think of the squad we're building? I'm approaching 50seasons and I really can't remember one as strong as this one.
