Puddy 7.5 - was in no mans land for one mistake in the first half but I thought he coped very well with later pressure from FGR
Brown 7 - averaged out because I thought he had a great first half and a quiet second Parkes 8 - another solid game, clean sheet, looks like a real leader and some good passing as well McChrystal 7.5 - clean sheet, no-nonsense performance Lockyer 6.5 - solid
Monkhouse 6.5 - a bit nondescript I thought, good experience and positioning paid off, unlucky with the header in second half Mansell 7 - valuable player for us again if not the most noticeable Lines 8 MOM - Quality first half when he was the best player on the pitch, did what he had to in a difficult second half for us Gosling 6.5 - bright in patches, very quiet in others
Taylor 8 - energetic, dogged, scored, still wasteful at times Harrison 4.5 - actually thought Ellis started really well last night and didn't allow himself to be bullied by FGR, two yellow cards like those are unforgivable in a game of that importance though
Subs - not long enough to mark really, Blissett did okay DC 7 - clearly got them really fired up for the first half which was excellent, disappointed that he couldn't predict what happened with Ellis when it was pretty obvious Ref 2 - actually started quite well, to not send Clough off was completely unforgivable and made some odd decisions against both sides FGR 4 - understand why their style of play works on some teams but it didn't with us (especially in the first half) and Parkin had a bit of an off day.

Sounds like hindsight but honestly said to my brother and dad that Ellis should be taken off for Blissett in case he got sent off 10 minutes before the incident. Gutted, not happy with Ellis and a bit disappointed that Clarke couldn't see that coming. yeah but 1/2 the world would start on DC Probably right mate, he couldn't really win I suppose.

Don't wish to tempt fate but I couldn't be more delighted with how this half has gone, we look more urgent and better technically but we actually look physically stronger and more aggressive as well, which we've often lacked for years really. Only regret is that we haven't scored more, but some excellent chances created.

Monkhouse may well be in with a shout, simply because of the number of goals he has scored from midfield. As others have said I would fully expect both Brown and Parkes to be in the team.

Heard there were some C*ty fans in there and that was the source of the trouble. Not saying this is true or anything to do with me (didn't even join in the chanting) literally just reporting something that I heard. I was in the South Stand, and didn't see anything to indicate that any 3rd parties were involved. More than prepared to go with this interpretation then, as I said my post had no basis in fact.

Puddy 6 that being an average score, nothing to do today
Lockyer 6 similar to the above, didn't especially help the result but certainly didn't hinder it McChrystal 6.5 clean sheet, great cross for one of the goals (Mansell?) Parkes 8 MOM clean sheet, confident on the ball, strong in the air, brilliantly taken goal considering he started the move Brown 7 solid game both defensively and offensively
Gosling 7.5 looked a threat throughout, well-taken goal Mansell 6 did okay, passing wasn't great today Lines 7 will definitely be playing above Conference next year, either with us (cross fingers) or with somebody else Monkhouse 6.5 never been his number one fan, did what he needed to do
Harrison 7 good rather than great, assume he was carrying a bit of a knock which tallies with his early substitution (which I agreed with btw) Taylor 7.5 wish he'd done that more often this season, not his best all-round game but can't argue with two goals
Leadbitter 6.5 electric pace, not much of an end product Clarke 6 little to comment on Balanta 3 wasteful, not good enough
Clarke 9 can only judge him on today and clearly he got them fired up for the win Referee 6 Alfreton 2 embarrassing, were they truly fighting to stay up?!

Blimey we've just about everybody now it's down to DC not snogging MS/YS which is the problem? Let's face it if after Saturday if it's meant to be we'll win on Saturday & Barnet won't, if not, we'll just have to hope for luck turns in the Play Offs Um, did you read the article? Odd response.

Do think we went for the cheapest option available,to keep the supporters happy, look at the clubs this joker was at,never been any good anywhere he as been, should have really made a statement,in the final transfer window, but sad to say the board is trying to get us out of this joke of a league by not speculating to accumulate, I do hope they have got it right, You're a joker mate.

In fairness I sure do hate that Ryan Gosling ha ha. sorry. Jake Gosling dare I suggest that getting his name wrong shows just how little impact he's had on me this season? Only joking mate, and you're right that probably says more about you than him! Great OP by the way

Not a personal slight but I simply can't understand how people think, or ever thought this about Clarkson. He's the best player we've had technically for years. If he'd played every game up front last season we would never have gone down. If he could ever have managed more than 60 mins of football without blowing out of his arse he might have played more. Possibly one of the worse players I've ever seen in a Rovers shirt and I've seen Paul Tait. Haha I seem to remember having this argument with you at least twice before! Granted, sometimes he did look knackered but he'd still run further and faster than most of the rest of them. He (and O'Toole when he was in the right mood) was the only genuine bit of quality in that squad last season. Did you see his goal against Sheffield United in the FA Cup a few years back?

Why the love in with Clarkson? Easter did more on Friday than Clarkson managed in 2 seasons. Not a personal slight but I simply can't understand how people think, or ever thought this about Clarkson. He's the best player we've had technically for years. If he'd played every game up front last season we would never have gone down.

Smith and Clarkson definitely, Mohamed and O'Toole at a push. However they are more difficult to compare than it first seems because we are in a different league - let's hope our current squad can carry on into next season (in League Two!).

You surely must play Football Manager with that last sentence! Classic line! I don't think that's for me to discuss (calmly) Just got some pretty odd looks laughing at that

Would just like to say a huge thankyou to you for taking the time to do this for those of us who aren't able to attend as many games as we would like (I know this applies to me!). I'm sure there are weeks when not many people post ratings and you maybe don't get any thanks at all, but I (and probably many others) read your thread every week and massively appreciate it, even if it's not immediately obvious. Mad response on Twitter! Well out of proportion It is pretty clear and Darrell has confirmed that Ellis isn't the brightest but the lad doesn't help himself. He comes across as a bit of an attention seeker to me. He has the skills but his attitude irritates. You surely must play Football Manager with that last sentence! Classic line!
