Depressing, if not interesting thread. Common theme in football I know but Lee Mansell being described like he is 20 years older than me (mid-40s) doesn't make me feel very good - I thought we were about the same age (hoping).

And they want the fair play award for 15/16 back?

MS looked demented in the post-match interview. If you'd watched the interview with the sound off it looked like we'd lost 5-0. Words coming out his mouth were surprisingly positive given his body language and facials. Something funny going on - Nick Day PA might be the least of it!

Most the Chelsea fans I saw seemed to have some weird sense of entitlement, a couple of them starting kicking off outside the court field pub in Earls Court when the police politely asked them to find another place to drink. But to be honest why would you want to drink in a pub full of very vocal set of the opposing teams supporters?! All in all it was a cracking day out. Glad I made the effort to get up to London earlier and drink my own body weight in Cider! Sense of entitlement sums it up. I was in the home end - what a dismal bunch. No sense of humour, no banter, just expecting to win and completely star struck (not by Matty to be clear). My mate pointed out it was like going to the cinema for them - felt that was a good point. I'd add it was like a bunch of black cab drivers going to the cinema.

Until this weekend I was really fond of the Mem but a couple of things made me realise it's not the way forward. FIrstly, I couldn't bring my Father in Law because he can't stand (now all seats are gone). Second, took my son in the family enclosure for the first time, got told off for by Mrs O'Brady angry old lady for blocking her view whilst struggling to get some visibility for my six year old. Family club? Yes, lots of kids along the front but couldn't really push them out of the way and they are bigger so can see over the hoarding comfortably. Nowhere really comfortably so the boy ended up bored, me frustrated. Next time I'll go on my own. That's two lost ticket sales. We live out of the area so we will only go together to the away games which benefit from the away day atmosphere and usually better facilities taking into consideration the need to tow kids and pensioners around.

Stopping off on the way back from Holiday. Don't live near Bristol so I'm not a ST holder - waiting until next Sat when the tickets become open to all. Then will have to get them posted to where I am on holiday. Pay on the day would be OK I would have thought given the distance from Bristol but I'm making a stopover especially so don't want to run the risk of having to sit in the Scunthorpe stands. WIth my boy who won't know how to keep a lid on it.

I read the SH piece as a water take - it's like all the notes being put out by proper big companies which don't say anything. I read it to my colleagues and they thought it was funny. Could end up in Brexitballs in Private Eye.

Quickly reconfiguring journey back from holiday in Northumberland to take in....Scunthorpe! Involves an overnight stay somewhere nearby. FIrst game of the season though might be Berwick v Kilmarnock in the Scottish League Cup (in July).

Really pleased for them after last year. Watched the game on TV and cheered them on. Their nervy passing reminded my of Rovers in all the big games we've had but they got their act together in the end. Good to have a proper team back.

Impressed with my visits to their ground - small club but friendly and seems to be the hub of a community activity judging by the notice board in their club house. They held a carol concert at the ground after their loss to us before last Christmas. Must have been a bit depressing....

Didn't have much direct contact with Grimbsy fans on the day - too busy trying to find the right flipping entrance and being pushed from pillar to post by the temporary staff.
Impressed with their support inside the ground though and on the way home a Grimsby fan shouted "Oiiii!" from a minibus - turning around expecting abuse, instead it was "well done, good luck next season". Really really hope they come up, they deserve it after waiting so long and being thwarted so many times.

We could have been 7-0 winners with the same agonising wait at the end. To those who were there - what was the wait like? What did everyone do? Pitch invasion and chap running round with flare was what I saw - most people were celebrating but the end of the game was so close to the winning goal it blurred a bit. Wiser heads were shouting it's too early then a second wave of celebration started when the Accy result came through.

Bloody hell you must have a boring life if that excites you To clarify, it was said a bit tongue in cheek. I was just thinking back to the endless threads on those topics leading up to the Grimsby game Yeah, and even after all that I ended up sat next to some boring bloke and his girlfriend who hardly said a word, sat down throughout, and left 10 minutes before the end (probably) to beat the rush. Shows you can't have too many threads or overplan these things.

i think we all win next week. would love to be proven wrong though. wycombe are crap, accy are on a really good run and can see them keeping their nerve Completely agree, hope we're wrong . Still, looking forward to a party at the Mem next Saturday and show appreciation for everything done over the last two seasons. 8ish of our starting 11 were in the Conference last season so whatever Wycombe or Stevenage do we can be proud of the team in front of us and if worse comes to worse we can "enjoy" the lottery of playoffs. P.S. Darryl superb on FF earlier, only worry he is showcasing his talents...

Is anyone aware of an occasion where the baffling instructions issue by the faithful has actually changed the game? I shouted "tackle him for ****" to Lines at the Mansfield away game, he took the oppo right out and got a yellow card. I claim no credit, I was too far away but someone closer to the pitch must have thrown one of our players at some point?

Thanks for the feedback - consensus seems to be get there before 2 if you're not on the East side. Limits the merchandising opportunity for the club but things will be changing soon no doubt.

Quick question - have tickets for the South Stand but the club shop is in the East Stand (I think, never looked before). Can I get to the club shop on match day? Thanks.

I have to assume that it's the tea lady ...is there really one...are we grace brothers in disguise.....who is in charge of air traffic control ,as there seem to be a growing number of planes circling Filton airport with landing gear down ! Other than that , interesting interview. I've gotten a bit confused with the airplanes and landing lights - the other day it was in relation to the stadium and now it's the team heading for the landing lights with undercarriage ablaze, or whatever. But I have a short attention span - it could be the new pasty contract that has its landing gear being deployed, no doubt collapsing when it hits the runway and showering onlookers with beef mince and small cubes of carrot.

Seems like he comes on this forum each week - complains about the mood being down when it's down, and up when it's up. Keeps himself to himself - feels a long way from the speech in the Queen Vic. Hopes it's a maturation rather than just being fed up (for whatever reason)
My sense is that he's positive about the new framework but suspicious of what it means for him - underwhelmed by having a "young man" as a performance analysis (we'll [or Will or Wael?] have to work out what he does and doesn't do) - "has ideas" etc. I thought Darryl was the "young man"...
I think he's a great thing for the club - more worried about him than the injuries TBH - he has looked tired lately.

The only problem is the 20 oafs turning up from the pub at the last minute expecting to all sit together - like at Oxford - and then spend the next 95 minutes bitching to the stewards. We are Rovers and we sit where we want!
