Like Gos - saw him after the Southend game. He could hardly walk, obviously given it his all. A pleasure to talk to, nice guy.
Had his moments on the pitch but for one reason or another it's not worked out. Good luck to him.

Silk ties and scarves made of actual wool for the high spenders. Will sell at least of one of each to Whale.

Refreshing to hear the new owner talk about moving the club in the right direction commercially. Hopefully the main shirt sponsors will be a big local name instead of holding a raffle. Sounds like there will be a big shake up now Boycie has gone, he's held that club back for years with his car sales man approach. Be nice to see some former players back introduced to the pre match roast dinner instead of listening to the same bloke on the mic week in week out. Not only that we may even get some leisurewear in the shop people will actually want to buy! Onwards and upwards, utg jogging bottoms

Mildy running out like an angry hen to give Harrison a bollocking for letting the man free for the final shot in the clip made me laugh.

Look what happened when Northampton had a John Joe O'Toole fancy dress day. The bugger got sent off.
Re: Gaffney. You may as well go the whole hog and dress up as leprechauns. If you want to unsettle him, do it properly.
What is it about Irish players that people want to dress up as them?

Not a witch hunt at all but...Did anyone notice the whole team came over to clap the fans but Easter just walked off down the tunnel? I thought Easter was one of the first over with Lines to clap the fans but he was first to leave before the rest of the team came over.

The apparent hated for OC seems a bit harsh given he had a very good game last week, at the end of the day if we play 5 across the middle then OC is really the only player who can play the deep holding midfield role. Mansell would do it better then 3 Ollie Clarkes imo, and for me it's not just an opinion of his footballing ability, I don't like him as a person either frankly Any particular reason? Never met him in person but seems pleasant enough from his interviews.

One buffoon in the seats was giving Ellis a constant stream of abuse almost from the start. Shithead, lazy, useless, go and work somewhere else etc.
Can't see how that helps.
Buffoon left before the end as well.

At least they have been backed up by Barnet.. So that's cool. It's not as if any Reading fans think they are a bit silly is it? Or Bolton, West Ham etc. Barnet though... Barnet are trying to cling on to a non existing rivalry. Can we just put this bed on Saturday by singing "we love you Barnet, we do, we love you etc."? Frankly, anyone who turns up to support Barnet is worthy of respect - most people in NW london support the Arse or some such and never go to a game.

Liked the American will Packwood from Birmingham.Had time on the ball. This post reminded me of how helpful he was at the start of a dire season. According to Wiki suffered subsequent injuries (groin/hamstring) and is back in the US looking for a contract. Only 22 - sad, especially when you think how grateful we were at the time.

No. It says our next two games are Wombles and Orient. That was posted at 16:30. It then says tickets can be bought from the shop but only posted no later than tomorrow. Pay on the day seems to be available at Wombles but they don't sound convinced. Suggest go up to the shop and buy them to be sure. Agree, only 700 capacity for away supporters from what I can tell and no seats available for away fans (leaving one body at home because of this). Phoned the shop, was told pay on the day but I insisted on buying tickets, the person on the other end wasn't happy about it but as gasincider notes our communication doesn't seem convincing. I'm not expecting 1000s to attend but if you're the 701st to turn up that's Christmas spoilt. Football Ground Guide: "Away fans are housed in the Your Golf Travel Terrace at one side of the pitch. If the the away following is expected to be less than 600, then one side (towards the John Green Stand) is allocated and hence the terrace is shared with home supporters, although adequately separated. For larger followings then more of the terrace can be allocated, with the maximum allocation being 700. This small shallow terrace is partly covered to the rear, with open standing areas on each side. In addition a number of seats are made available in the new John Green Stand, adjacent to the East Terrace."

How do the loan signings get introduced to such a tight-knit team? (Must be weird, right?)
Fleeting thought - DC: "This is Dave, he'll be training with us for the next couple of weeks. Manse show him the ropes - be gentle with him. Now run about a bit and I'll see you at half-time on Saturday"
Funniest thing DC has said at half-time? He has got a wry sense of humour so must have said something worth repeating...
Worst coach journey home after a game? (Could be a funny one or Braintree, or neither)
Your Bristol Rovers 5-a-side team? (Done before but a good one)

I was in the home end tonight. Consensus is that we gave a good account of ourselves - good first 10 mins and most of the second half. Southend have a lot of belief in their keeper as a shot stopper and we had a couple of goes that could have gone in if the keeper was a tiny less agile. Regarded as unlucky with the disallowed goal "What?, never seen that before". They were scared of our counter attacks, me less so for the reasons discussed above. Perhaps we held the ball in the defence too long which gave them a couple of opportunities to snatch something. Lines's distribution from set pieces was admired (but no one could put it in).
Conclusion - we looked like a side that should be challenging for play-offs (not me, the locals).
Met some of the team on the way out. They made time to chat but looking for reassurance over their performance tbh. One player said they couldn't explain why the performance at the Mem was so weak (bad luck?) and claimed they didn't pick up any negativity (believe that if you will). It seemed to me that confidence has taken a knock (after Chesham etc) but overall they did enough to equal most league 2 sides tonight and Southend were relieved with the narrow win.

That game gave me a headache - everything was lopsided, the position of the stands, the pitch markings being pushed up towards the home end, so the action seemed a long way away. Atmosphere poor if only because our 550 were spread out over a large area - and then the game started. Looking forward to seeing Steve K's comments (he makes sense when I can't). I couldn't quite work out why things didn't go so well in the first half (the pitch was giving me a headache anyway). We seemed second to the ball after a bright first five mins and there seemed to be a hole in our midfield but the fame was fairly piecemeal so hard to get a feel. Our defence was quite pressured under the long balls and CU got to a lot of the second balls which was worrying. Second half was better, even before MT's substitution. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the changing room because no one had high hopes at half time. "We're sh**, useless" etc. Still too many wayward passes but we got round them on the wings which helped change things and there was some extra creativity. Thought Ellis got the shithead chant when he scored BTW but I am a bit deaf. That's good banter to be fair if they chanted that at him so long as it was in jest. The mood was certainly very jolly at the time.

I'll be in the home end with a colleague. He likes to sit in the same seat for most games "with the old gits who just moan". It'll be just like the Dribuild, and to make Easter, Lines and Taylor feel at home I can hurl abuse at them and the locals won't even bat an eyelid.
On second thoughts, I don't want Rovers to feel at home....

We were a much better team in a 4-4-1 than the 5-3-2 (or 3-5-2). Mansfield had the 5-3-2 sussed straightaway, pressed hard and most of the action was at the top corners of our penalty area as we scrambled to get the ball away. Much more evenly balanced with 4 at the back and 4 in the middle and an even end to end contest - these subtleties overshadowed by the all the other shenanigans. Also not sure why a bunch of our fans went to Mansfield just to bounce up and down in front of the stewards, keeping police occupied as well. They seemed more preoccupied with how entertaining they were and couldn't have seen much of the game. Weird and embarrassing like Easter's dive. thing is clarke is prepared to change things when they aren't working, can you imagine ward doing that?! Lines a passenger in the first half, clarke much more effective second half. Glad we still had two strikers on after the break, i got the feeling clarke thought the ref may even things up so we had more attacking options later on whereas mansfield gambled everything using the 3 subs early. Agree with you and the changes were inspired but I was nervous about the choice of 5-3-2 from the start and the first 15 minutes (and most of the first half) showed the weakness of that formation. I guess it won't be used for the next two games at least. Your comment on Lines reminded me how much I laughed (ironically) when he got a yellow card for a tackle, minutes after we were bellowing at him for not trying to take the ball back after he lost it. Pleased to see O'Clarke put in a composed performance and the killer cross.
