No-one seems to be laying any blame at Ehmer, our number 5. For the first goal he tracked back too slowly as the last line of defence. For the second goal he was vaguely nudged before the corner came over and flopped to the ground claiming a foul instead of making his presence felt and staying on his feet. For the third goal he was caught inside the Ipswich half as they launched an attack. We were way off the pace and badly organised and we are there for the taking if it continues. The second goal reminded me of Johnny Burn trying to mark Wyke up at Bradford a few years ago.

Gonna be a struggle until we get a centre forward that can hold the ball up. Is Daly injured again?

Can't see him signing. Hope I'm wrong.

Wonder if us playing Sunderland and Ipswich twice early on will positively impact on JCH signing contract? If no deadline for him re contract, then he could always delay signing to see how we start off? If you were JCH's agent and not a Rovers fan, why would you advise him to sign a new contract with only 12 months remaining when he can walk on a free?

Odds to get promoted that looks like to me... We’re 5-1 promotion 16-1 champions . There’s two things to click on there. Not a lot of value at those prices.

A Championship club could make him a low earner and pay him more. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. But I don't think he will sign an extension. You're spot on. He would be mad to sign an extension. My guess is he'll see out his contract and move to a championship club as a free agent.

I can see us playing a variant of 3 at the back in some shape or fashion. speculative/for illustrative purposes and so no nit picking anybody -----Baldwin--Ehmer---Kilgour Rodman---Ogogo---Grant---Leahy --Nicholson-----------------Daly-- ---------------JCH------------- Yh this is the kind of formation I’d imagine he’d go with, gives the best chance for attacking threat, I know that your not saying this is your starting 11 but I’ll give my two cents anyways. I think Ogogo will be a bit part player this year, which is a shame as he looked decent last year, but I don’t think he’s what garner wants or looks for, Rodman will be sub if hare is fit, Leahy has been a frustrating one because he looks brilliant sometimes and then has a shocker, wouldn’t be surprised if we bring in a left sided attacking full back, and assuming that Barrett gets fit he’ll be the other centre mid. Wouldn't surprise me if one of Ogogo or Upson left, either on a free or more likely on loan with us picking up part of their wage.

The question also is where they will be training? I assume the training ground at Almondsbury won't be ready to move until at least September/November when the pitches are ready and the facilities are up and running. Perhaps the club might use Cribbs for a little bit longer or use leisure centres and local 3g pitches for the duration of pre season? Get 'em down on Weston beach like the old days. Could even have a 5 a side against Trapnell's donkeys. They've just been promoted to the championship.

Now back on page 1. That didn't take long, and there's an extensive and exhaustive post from some 6-fingered belter calls himself Peter O'Hanra-Hanrahan in which he fails to provide proof that he's not obsessed with all things Gas. If you click on his profile, it shows his last 15 posts, 11 of which are in the dustbin thread.
What makes you think he's obsessed with us?

I can’t see what there is to laugh about. Watched him for years - theplus points were some of the goals he scored and his commitment. The downsides outweighed the plus points by a country mile. Consider : Too many yellow cards meant Maybe two suspensions per season Too many misplaced simple passes handing possession back to the opposition Too many bad games indicating unacceptable cosistency. I’m in the SteveK camp here - he’s not good enough for league one. He's undoubtedly good enough, the issue is more around we don't need three battlers with little creativity in midfield. He's just unfortunate to be out of contract while Upson and Ogogo have another another year left. Baby we can talk all night But that ain't gettin us nowhere I told you everything I possibly can There's nothing left inside of here And maybe you can cry all night But that'll never change the way I feel The snow is really piling up outside I wish you wouldn't make me leave here I poured it on and I poured it out I tried to show you just how much I care I'm tired of words and I'm too hoarse to shout But you've been cold to me so long I'm crying icicles instead of tears And all I can do is keep on telling you I want you, I need you But-there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you Now don't be sad 'Cause two out of three ain't bad

Get rid of Ollie and replace with someone creative. I can't face another season of Ogogo, Upson and OC in midfield. Southstandultra very much dislikes this! Why? We don't need three battlers with little or no creativity.

Great thread but too hard! BRFC 1 v 1 Man U. Great match and we should have won, we deserved to. Man United 1 v 2 BRFC. Who’d have thought it Rovers winning at OT. So proud as a teenager to be able to have something to shout about at school. Southend 0 v 0 BRFC. To finally clinch promotion with a great team, my first as a gashead. BRFC 3 v 1 Shrewsbury. For the quality of goals and drama at the end. Walkers goals would have been in the top ten if they were in the PL. didn’t get the credit. BRFC 1 v 0 **it. After all Johnson said..... Grimsby 1 v 1 BRFC. No doubt the most important win in our history. BRFC 2 v I Daggers. Again for the drama at the end, on the same ground only two years after our worst moment. Difficult to choose but for the feeling after the match I’ll go for the Grimsby match for its pure importance. But I might change my mind later on different ages, different feelings!! UTG! ps I missed so much of the 80s and 90s for family stuff and distances and work stuff so it doesn’t register as high with me. Good list, think I'd only add the Notts County away 2nd leg 0-0 to get to Wembley for the first time.

3-5-2 Gk: Blackman RCB: Kilgour CB: Craig LCB: Harries RWB: Rodman LWB: THD AM: Barrett DM: Upson AM: Sercombe ST: Daly ST: JCH Harries, Barrett and Daly are our players so may as well put them in now and get them up to speed ASAP. Would play Hare at RWB but think Saturday would be to soon, would be on my bench though. Yep, like the look of that team.

Daly did more in 20 mins yesterday than Nichols has done all season. Tom's had more than enough chances and was rightly moved on. Yeah ok Ben. All those games alongside JCH where they formed a good partnership consistently for 12 months rightly moved on yep we’re doing much better now aren’t we. See my post above. PS I voted for Garner to go

Daly did more in 20 mins yesterday than Nichols has done all season. Tom's had more than enough chances and was rightly moved on. Daly looked bright yesterday but to say he did more than Nichols has done for us this season is just wrong. No coincidence for me that since TN hasn’t been in the team, our form has gone down the pan, we shouldn’t forget that when JCH was in a rich vein of form, it was Nichols who was alongside him. I’m not even his biggest fan but I’m willing to fight his corner on this. Think it's more a case of not playing two up front rather than missing Nichols.

The irony of this thread is that despite the title, you’ve probably highlighted one of his biggest mistakes. No-one can persuade me that having Nichols wouldn’t of made us a better team yesterday, we were crying out for the spark he provides in the final third. The people that were on his back the entire time here got what they wanted, he’s wasting his career on the Cheltenham bench and we are a worse team for it. Daly did more in 20 mins yesterday than Nichols has done all season. Tom's had more than enough chances and was rightly moved on.

The only positive today was Daly looked good when he came on. Should've started up top with JCH.
