probably wouldn't base any assumptions on the one case to be honest but if it did become a trend then that would certainly point towards something more evolved wouldn't it I agree and it will likely continue to predominantly be a London, and specifically a London gang, thing. Just wondered if it's now being seen as a more accepted culture among youngsters around the country and will gradually spread since little seems to be done to address it. yes I could believe it. The glorification of gang culture, being tough, all that, is not specific to the socially deprived I suppose although possibly more appealing.

Seems these 'kids' in gangs develop a feud which escalates, threats thrown around, no one wants to be seen to back done, other gang members egg them on and and next minute someone's led on a mortuary slab. Ironically the stop and search which could have targeted the identified demographic was taken away following the Lawrence enquiry and probably plays a part in what this has grown into.

Sadiq Khan wanted a huge reduction in Stop and searches a few years ago and now all of a sudden he wants them increased. You couldn't make it up.
Of course he uses buzz words today such as 'targeted' and 'intelligence-led' stop and search to cover the fact he has made such a ridiculous U-turn, as if the stop and searches he wants nowadays are different to the ones carried out in 2015 when he was so desperate to be loved by London communities, promising to 'do all in his power' to reduce its use as if it was an evil practice. Guess that didn't turn out too well.

The "county lines" issue with drug distribution has not been mentioned on this thread, one which I believe the police say is fuelling this upsurge in violence in violent crime. Of course they do not have the police numbers to prevent this as a result of the reduction in the police force instigated by the current government.

You could triple or quadruple the number of Police and it will make little difference on the knife crime issue. These drug peddling gang members have no fear of the law and no respect for the Police. They know that there will no serious repercussions for being caught carrying a knife or carrying out non knife acts of violence. This country is so weak on crime and until we get really tough and look out for the decent, law abiding majority things will only get worse.

A family member worked at the Young offenders Institute at Pucklechurch before it converted to a Paedo prison a few years back. He hated working with the youngsters, cocky, full of attitude, still operating within their gangs and no intention of changing when they got out. They would have gang fights and assault officers on a daily basis knowing the prison authorities could do nothing to them. They would smash up their cells and next day have their new telly and play station delivered. They know how to play the game when do gooders like Howard League visitors come round, moaning about their upbringing, nothing else for them to do, victim of circumstance etc...and then revert back to gangsters as soon as the visitors leave. They are treated like kings and have great facilities and opportunities to study but generally not interested. When they get hurt in a fight or have a health problem they get whisked to hospital - no long waiting lists for them, straight to the front of the queue.

Well she would wouldn't she. Find the head of any organisation that doesn't want increased resources - jumping on a bandwagon of teenagers stabbing each other is just a convenient way to get publicity and support for her long standing drive for more officers.

Not interested because that doesn't support what you want to hear?

Sorry I beg to differ on the straight to front of queue in hospital. All are treated according to clinical triage need regardless of whether they are handcuffed to someone or not. Most of the admissions on a Friday night are handcuffed to someone anyway. They may well have been moved elsewhere if they were children at the time to await their care out of view of other children to minimise distress to those other children but preferential treatment? Absolutely not a chance.

You may not like my politics but have no reason to call me a liar. - again you hear something that doesn't suit your view so start being insulting. As I said I have a family member who took these "poor children" to hospital many times and they always got treated straight away. Maybe different for adult prisoners I'm not sure but my family source has no reason to make this up, he's as liberal minded as they come but their preferential treatment still wound him up.

"Thug, 18, poses for a selfie outside court after dodging prison for a SECOND knife offence amid mounting concerns over soft justice" "A suspected drug dealer with a history of carrying a blade dodged jail yesterday. Kyle Davis, 18, was given a suspended sentence despite being caught with cocaine and a knife – his second weapons offence. The case, which comes amid mounting fury at the number of teenage stab victims, will fuel concerns about soft justice for knife offenders." Tough on crime eh?

The only cases I can think of where they would be treated straight away are as follows: - There was no wait - They were sicker than anyone else waiting - a post apocalyptic Brexit world where my house is full of twigs Also note what I said about moving them to another place. That is not treatment. Even arriving by ambulance does not get you seen quicker if you arent sick enough.
