Why can't they just put another ref in the stands (perfect view) who is miked up to the match officials,if there is a close call it would take seconds to ask for another opinion.

Jeez this is exactly what the anti Barton brigade will love to see.
The refereeing has been crap so he's right to call it out for what it is.
Don't think he'll be able to mike up with someone in the stadium however how they police that would be interesting.
Worst comes to the worst he can call me up and I'll shout out to the dugout!

Of course itās the refs fault. Only rovers get bad decisions. Maybe heāll grow up one day. If he ever wants to manage higher heāll need to. Ho hum. Business as usual.

Leaving aside JB's punishment, which feels over the top - maybe a solution might be to have 4 assistant referees, one each half on both sides. How many times have we seen the West Stand lino give a throw in to the wrong team when the ball is in the other half? And surely a marginal offside or a niggly foul on the West Stand side may be missed by the assistant referee on the East Stand side. Saying that, assistant referees appeared to be rather short sighted whenever a thug central defender fouled Josh Coburn, even if 2 yards away from them!

Punishment seems harsh, but even with 95% of the posts on here either supportive of Barton or just focussing on referring still people canāt help with the āanti Barton brigadeā nonsense. Gas chat rule no1. Thou shalt not speak ill of our leader š¤£

There was a suggestion iirc many years ago (FIFA, Blatter?) to have 4 linesmen, a referee in each half and an overall match official. Didn't get far.

I have seen a few comment that Referees come into a game already anti Barton and its no surprise when things start to go against us.... its no different than some of our guys with their reputation for being a Tom Daly tribute act. Decisions wont flow naturally in their favour.
I would add to that some of our in-house 'fans' who abuse the referee even before the game has started - There is a guy stood on the West Terrace stood in front of our seats who abuses the officials even before they are warming up .... its seriously poor and no one says anything about it.More than once the referee has looked over in almost disbelief at what is being said to him.
Throw in the ' its happened again ' chant immediately something goes against the team and its no wonder we are on the end of some crap decisions... and before people say - 'Do you seriously believe refs are swayed by that stuff - Yes i do especially at our level.

We really are a bunch of hypocrites aren't we. As soon as an opposition manger speaks out we jump on him. When ours does the same we play the victims.
Got to love the life of the average football ban.

Business as usual. you reckon the managers at the top leagues just accept the mistakes?they are the first to demand answers to incompetent refereeing.maybe we should just be happy with our lot bumbling along the bottom as not to upset anyone

I don't think that Sir Alex was a stranger to the officials' changing room either. Several top referees, who have now retired, have admitted that they were intimidated by him when refereeing at Old Trafford - hence "Fergie time"

I had a quick look but struggling to find a link to the FA statement apologising for an incorrect offside that decided the final score. Iām sure itās on there, as they seem to thoroughly investigate things and come to a fair conclusionā¦ š

Happy to give JB a pass on this one ..... Surprised it hasn't happened before given the pathetic match officials we have had for some games this season. Sheff Weds wasn't great but not the worst by far .... The officiating against Portsmouth both Home and Away stretched the limits where incompetence crosses over to negligence and beyond to cheating. JB will watch on IFollow or similar with an open line to AM - nothing will get missed. Not True "Under a stadium ban, an individual is forbidden from entering the matchday venue before, during and after a game and cannot communicate with staff at any point."
