Of course it’s the refs fault. Only rovers get bad decisions. Maybe he’ll grow up one day. If he ever wants to manage higher he’ll need to. Ho hum. Business as usual. you reckon the managers at the top leagues just accept the mistakes?they are the first to demand answers to incompetent refereeing.maybe we should just be happy with our lot bumbling along the bottom as not to upset anyone Ways of doing that. Will be interesting to hear what was said but indication it was verbally abusive. Needs to learn to do his job.

Happy to give JB a pass on this one ..... Surprised it hasn't happened before given the pathetic match officials we have had for some games this season. Sheff Weds wasn't great but not the worst by far .... The officiating against Portsmouth both Home and Away stretched the limits where incompetence crosses over to negligence and beyond to cheating. JB will watch on IFollow or similar with an open line to AM - nothing will get missed. Not True "Under a stadium ban, an individual is forbidden from entering the matchday venue before, during and after a game and cannot communicate with staff at any point."This is the Scouse Mafia not the Clevedon Crown Green Bowls ladies team - how on earth do you think the Rule makers will police this ? Ask JB and all his friends and family to hand in their phones and laptops... JB will 'deliver' the pre match and half time team talk but Mangan will say the words - No doubt about that.

Sounds a bit excessive in my opinion, the standard of refereeing would make a vicar swear 😂

Why can't they just put another ref in the stands (perfect view) who is miked up to the match officials,if there is a close call it would take seconds to ask for another opinion. what does the fourth official actually do, think he should be able to over rule the ref

Business as usual. you obviously weren't at both Portsmouth games or sheff Wed game, these refs need to stop making all these stupid mistakes then maybe Joey wouldn't lose his rag so much, if Joey needs to grow up then so does most of the fans in the stadium because we are all the same

Don’t you think that this is precisely why we should have a proper list of qualified and competent referees and they should be paid, accordingly. Given the massive responsibility some have, in play off and other big games, they should be paid a decent wage. We have way too many who are not even fit enough to keep up with play, let alone make fit and proper decisions.

Jeez this is exactly what the anti Barton brigade will love to see. The refereeing has been crap so he's right to call it out for what it is. Don't think he'll be able to mike up with someone in the stadium however how they police that would be interesting. Worst comes to the worst he can call me up and I'll shout out to the dugout! We have had plenty of other managers who have made complaints about the standard of refereeing. You say the anti Barton brigade will love to see this but, when you have already been red carded then you must make a decision on whether to keep quiet or carry it on. He chose the latter. It’s nowt to do with anti Barton but on doing the right thing , that’s how i see it. It really is not difficult. I did not know they could ban you from the ground though.

apparently first manager ever to do this and go into the unaccountable ones changing room? I don't think that Sir Alex was a stranger to the officials' changing room either. Several top referees, who have now retired, have admitted that they were intimidated by him when refereeing at Old Trafford - hence "Fergie time" You are right but i can’t remember him going into a tantrum, not after being red carded. United do have a system where you get punished if you go OTT. He was fiercely competitive and never gave any quarter but, I think, he did it was a touch of class. I think they have missed that since he left and it certainly had an effect upon the players

Isn't a 3 game stadium a bit disproportionate though?
If he'd squared to the ref, held him against a wall, chased him down a tunnel or something of that nature I could understand it. But a bit of verbal sledging is worthy of a stadium ban?

The frustration is valid but I don't think going into the officials changing rooms to give them verbal abuse is the right way of going about things. Especially when the officiating in the Sheffield Wednesday game wasn't the worst I've seen this season.
I thought JB was getting on top of his anger management these days.

Who said it’s only Rovers get bad decisions? JB’s no different than most in losing his rag with poor officiating. He even backed up the City manager on the same point earlier in the season.

Especially when the officiating in the Sheffield Wednesday game wasn't the worst I've seen this season. I thought JB was getting on top of his anger management these days. The officials are so arrogant and aloof and just walk off with their noses pointing in the air. He probably just followed them into their room whilst still trying to get his point across. Why don’t they just get off their high horse and engage? If the Lino said “Look Joey, I only get one look and thought your player was offside. I can’t change that decision but if I’m later proved to have made a bad decision I apologise “ he would probably have backed away. This fingers in ears shouting lah lah lah like a spoilt kid type attitude enrages managers even more.

We are fans. It is his job. Not sure I’d get away with terrace behaviour in my job. Quite a simple distinction. Yes i was at some of the games. And will shout at the ref. I’m not paid to manage the team and rep the club.

Another over the top reaction by the powers that be. just because it was Joey Barton. Plenty of managers calling out referees in their after match interviews and no doubt behind closed doors, unfortunately it would appear the officials concerned could not keep quiet about it and the league has backed their incompetence and made a total over reaction as to why Joey was not happy and ignored the big mistakes made by the referee and the linesman in this instance. Why on earth we have a fourth official apart from the need to cover any injury to one of the three on the field of play is beyond me, they appear to have no power whatsoever to challenge anything the referee does during a game. Anyone who witnessed their performance on that night will realise that they were incompetent. The three match stadium ban is a total over reaction. simply because it was JB.

God, there’s a lot of paranoia on this forum.
Maybe it’s best to see what the FA release before we start making judgements either way….nobody has a clue what the manager has said.

Just read about this and the story claims it is one of the harshest penalties ever handed out to a manager ....
Talk of Alan Pardew only getting the same length of stadium ban for head butting an opposition player - more then added to that but three games initial stadium ban.
So JB gets the same for telling a referee some home truths - seriously sounds disproportionate and convinces me there is an agenda against our man here.
