When was Barton sent off? I was at the game and remember him getting booked (on 87 minutes - just checked iFollow) so WTF happened after that?
Edit: I think Mangan then got booked after the final whistle as he was walking off the pitch, so it must have all kicked off after that when iFollow was no longer active.

Isn't a 3 game stadium a bit disproportionate though? If he'd squared to the ref, held him against a wall, chased him down a tunnel or something of that nature I could understand it. But a bit of verbal sledging is worthy of a stadium ban? Do you know the exact words he said to the referee then? Do you?!?! |

Jeez this is exactly what the anti Barton brigade will love to see. The refereeing has been crap so he's right to call it out for what it is. Don't think he'll be able to mike up with someone in the stadium however how they police that would be interesting. Worst comes to the worst he can call me up and I'll shout out to the dugout! We have had plenty of other managers who have made complaints about the standard of refereeing. You say the anti Barton brigade will love to see this but, when you have already been red carded then you must make a decision on whether to keep quiet or carry it on. He chose the latter. It’s nowt to do with anti Barton but on doing the right thing , that’s how i see it. It really is not difficult. I did not know they could ban you from the ground though. Thing is you’d complain even if he didn’t get sent off! |

I thought the Marquis goal v Sheff Weds looked offside at the time so it seems a bit odd JB lost the plot after that decision, when there have been far worse decisions this season and it was hardly a crucial match to lose.
If JB was sent off in the 85th minute then how did he manage to verbally abuse the officials in the tunnel, had he been stood waiting for them in the tunnel for 10 or so minutes after he was sent off?
Let's hope we don't now lose the appeal and the FA don't then decide to add an extra game to the suspension.

For it to be a 3 game ban it must have been considerably bad. Question is if he was just telling them as it is or if it was in some way threatening. I expect there’s an element of repeat offending swaying the ban though. |

A 3 match ban seems harsh until you think that a player would get the same.
Should anyone, player or staff, be banned get a significant reduction in wages for the period as they cannot fulfil their duties ?
I'm tempted to give Barton leeway here, but worry that there will always be one more outburst around the corner.

Wael should really man up and tell him to stop criticising officials, as it doesn't seem to be helping us in any way. |

I stand behind the dugout on the halfway line, and the fourth official was literally sat on him all afternoon. He went over and had a word every time Joey got up, whether he was in his technical area or not. I think he spoke to Darren Moore of Sheff Wednesday once from memory.
They had his card marked from the start I'm afraid.
