Yeah I like his effort but that’s all really. Thing is when we signed him I remembered him from his Doncaster days where he was a very clinical finisher. The John Marquis we signed is like a completely different player. I’m always up for giving a player time but he’s been here I think 18 months and I can’t see him getting his scoring touch back now after such a long time. Collins i think will come good again and I’m personally not going to write him off yet although I am starting to wonder as I think we all are. It’s Great we’ve signed Martin on again but I think we still need a mobile pacey striker with good anticipation and off the ball running to complement Martins style of play. Also a midfield general and a centre half who haven’t got lots of previous with injuries and I think we’ll have a top half squad. Obviously we won’t get all that in January but if we can do half of that this window then it should at least keep us up because let’s face it right now we’re in free fall and there’s a long way to go yet. We only need to average a point per game so should be doable but we’ve been relegated from this position at this point in the season before so I’m not getting too complacent and I certainly hope the owners aren’t. Agree with all of that 👍 Hold the phone …….we agree on something!

Well great to see the predictions on this thread we’re not true. Mr Martin staying to the end of the season! Missed him last, in tough conditions, needed his hold up play UTG

Any conspiracist theory advocates on this thread like to admit they got this one wrong. Thought not just change the theory.

Easy to forget just how good some of these finishes are. 👏

I ruined my computer monitor by using tippex on it. Didn’t work either, still printed off the incorrect version. 😎 Ah, but do you remember the Tippex thinners….. 😵💫

Works hard but that’s about it , really can’t understand why some fans like him. Yeah I like his effort but that’s all really. JM scored a decent goal last night but Connolly managed to get himself into an offside position.

Guess work but I imagine the hold up was on 6 months vs 18 months...
Player wanting some security for longer than 6 months. Who'd of thought it. I'd be amazed if we didn't activate the extention. Clearly could get 20+ goals in a season. Remember no penalties in his current tally.

3 or 4 weeks ago I took it for granted he'd be staying but I am relieved that we've finally extended his contract.
It's good news, but zero new sgnings 25 days into the January window is still disappointing and rather concerning.

Will get the goals to keep us up. Would still like some young lads given the opportunity to show what they have for next season, namely Greenslade and ward.

Scored 10 goals in 22 appearances this season.
Scored 176 goals in a career of 640 matches to date.
Will he end up with 200 goals in 700 matches?
Interesting set of numbers.
35 * 46 * 30 * 38 * 31 * 39 * 45 * 52 * 46 * 52 * 28 * 32 * 32 * 48* 51
This represents the number of matches Chris Martin has amassed in each of the last 15 seasons.
Pretty impressive.

Best goals per minutes ratio of any of the top scorers in league one. He might not be as mobile as some would like but he is hugely valuable. Ignoring their ages, whatwould JCH offer that CM doesn’t?

Martin doesn't really pressure defences like Marquis or A N Other might. If he doesn't score, he doesn't contribute much else. He does seem to regularly score though, so it's really hard to knock him. People used to moan that Cureton did nothing all game, but he also seemed to score every other match.

Whilst he doesn't press his man. He does close down a passing lane when we're setting our def structure.

Ref gave him nothing yesterday so we really struggled in the 20 mins Oxford were on top as there was no outlet. He needs to mix it up when this is the case. Why I only scored him 6. But he always scores so deserves his place starting.
