Looks like he’s gone to Colchester they offered him a better deal unconfirmed yet by Rovers I'd be surprised if Colchester could offer him more or that he'd want to drop down to L2 this early in the window.

Did he? I thought he said it was nearly done… "As far as I am aware it's all agreed and done" Dan Hargraves posted his latest story on it less than an hour ago which says Taylor revealed: "I think there is. I don’t think it’s official yet but I think we’re very close to it I’m sure he’ll sign but you can’t beat a good old conspiracy theory! EDIT. Just seen his latest tweet. Great news if he has.

Martins isn't a long term answer.
Based on what I am watching tonight, if we aren't bringing in the likes of JCH or someone who score goals then Martin would do a job until end of the season.

Didn't he say this last week? He's gone. He said on the radio tonight that the contract is done and he’s just waiting for it to be announced Part of what Taylor said was: "As far as I was aware it was agreed and ready to be signed going into the weekend. There is going to be some questions there as to why its not been done yet"

Martins isn't a long term answer. Based on what I am watching tonight, if we aren't bringing in the likes of JCH or someone who score goals then Martin would do a job until end of the season. Last night ended our run of scoring in every game (I think it was around 25 consecutive games?) I am not saying we would have scored if Martin was in the squad but his games to goals ratio has been very good and he is the only natural goal scorer at the club. Yes he is not the long term solution but he is by far the best option for the rest of this season. He was also scoring after coming off the bench after he first joined so I would like to see him take up that role next season. Assuming we can get someone in this summer that will also score some goals.

I think the son is trying to be overly clever and thinks this is a game of championship manager. I don't believe for one second that the JCH deal was purely down to a deadline extension issue. Something went badly wrong on our side for it to be a complete and utter shambles that even Peterborough chairman said that from their side it was done. Now we have Conteh. He has a release clause which means we pay the release clause and activate negotiations. That's how release clauses work. We have submitted 2 bids. Why? The only reason why is because the son has tried to be clever and low ball Grimsby. If that's the case, how stupid can you be? It appears this total rookie to life and business has no idea on how to deal with proper businessmen and is setting about destroying a reputation that Bristol Rovers are not a good club to do transfer business with. Football club owners are seasoned businessmen not market traders and it's an about time he sharpened his pencil. Now we have the Martin contract saga. Why didn't we give him a 12 month contract in Sept? We had already missed out on JCH and burned that bridge. They were never doing business with us. Marquis isn't the answer so why allow this situation to happen? That's 3 contracts in 4 months he's managed to make a total cats arse of. What the hell is he playing at? Not having a HOR is costing us big time and if Abdullatif doesn't give his head the massive wobble he clearly needs to give himself, he will push this club into a relegation fight.

This is a little unduly harsh, full of statements that are being made with hindsight: "Now we have the Martin contract saga. Why didn't we give him a 12 month contract in Sept?" Remember, he hadn't been through a preseason with anyone. The risk of a 12 month contract and he would perform was too high. Maybe it was the 3 month contract that has motivated him to score the goals that he has? If we had given him a 12 month contract and then he got injured in October, you would be saying "WTF? Why did we give him a 12 month contract?". Its very easy to take a position on this with the knowledge of hindsight. "Now we have Conteh. He has a release clause which means we pay the release clause and activate negotiations. That's how release clauses work. We have submitted 2 bids. Why?" Do you remember being on the end of this? Do you remember that the club(s that were in for the *that* player knew that his release clause was £300k. Do you remember the outrage that this figure became common knowledge when maybe an NDA had been signed? Maybe when we put the first bid in, we didn't know the release clause. Maybe we were trying to low ball, but surely the best negotiating position is to start low and move up. If you start too high, you will pay over the odds. Taylors interview suggested that other teams were coming in for him now.

Taylors interview suggested that other teams were coming in for him now. Whilst hindsight is 20/20, we have too many smoking guns of failure IMO. Look at the evidence of the JCH transfer. That indicates a gross mismanagement of that transfer from fee, to getting the player at the training ground to the extension. CM record speaks for itself, he got 4 goals in the championship in 10 championship starts last year for QPR and is a regular 30 app a season player, not like some of the disabled lot we have here. He was always going to score goals at this level and we had the opportunity in November to wrap him up for the season. If you had offered him terms after he scored 5 goals to the end of season he would have likely been happy with that. Giving him 6 months and leaving it until Jan gave him the chance to put us behind the 8 ball in terms of contract length. A L2 team will happily give him 18 months now, that's cracking value as he'll most certainly do a job in L2 next year. As for the release fee, they get released by agents and their contacts. If the press know what release fees are, have no doubt we will. Trust me, I've got major concerns about these new owners and their intentions. It's not just this. The club has owed me money since August last year and despite chasing them I've not had any comms from them. Another supplier to the club was asked to extend his credit terms to 90 days from 30. I never ever had problems under the previous ownership getting paid. In fact such was my confidence in getting paid by the club. This lot are coming across as rank amateurish to everyone. Why if they have the money? Why is our new manager sending subliminal messages in his pressers? Why no football recruitment team? There is only one reason and that's it's a shambles upstairs currently.
