And we're so far behind -- We've been lapped. Not sure we would be looking at another keeper who would expect to play all the time with Jed around. No insight but more likely to see a loanee brought in. I hope Jed is given a real chance. Other more important priorities if the budget is being reduced. UTG!

What part of the stadium have they been put in? Are their trained staff in that area to use them? Anyone can use one. It gives you step by step instructions all the way through. Yes they are easy to use. But they still need to train people up to use them. And in the moment when someone realises that someone in front of them is dieing there is a kind of psychological barrier that needs crossing. Someone has to do something to save a life which is quite unlike any other occasion. It can cause paralysis amongst onwatchers. They have made them as easy as possible to use and the club are to be applauded for placing them around the stadium. They do need to train named staff to use them. Just as you have named first-aiders on any match day. I’m sure training will be part of it. Well done the club. UTG!

Maybe it's an age thing but do not like all these signings of ex City players. Another example of the club moving further away from the one I was born into over 70 years ago. When I see the attitude of players like James Wilson how can the club keep its special identity. I suspect I’m a similar vintage to you cheamgas and I can understand what you’re saying. But when I was much, much younger I can remember some big links between the two clubs. Tony Ford, great guy, signed for us and played a season(?) before his bad injury forced him to retire. Well respected I think. And of course we had Fred Ford as head coach for a season after his sacking from City. Iirc he was appointed manager Summer ‘69 for a month or two before he was poached by Swindon before he’d ever managed us in a game, when we appointed Bill D. Ray Cashley, and a few others swapped to us and I never minded. And of course Trevor Jacobs was an important part of our promotion team if 73/74. I think the events of January ‘17 really turned the relationship toxic for some people and the almost deliberate attempts to derail what was boiling up to be a very good season for us. We never recovered. And last season it appears that in a match or two the attitude of Wilson towards the fans left a bad taste so that never helps. But Chris Martin's been ok hasn’t he? But we don’t want too many of them!! 😉 UTG!

Well, I suppose if it’s “every bloody summer” at least we seem to have a consistent policy about recruitment! 😉 We don’t recruit early and have to pay what I suspect is a kind of dividend that comes with being smug about thinking you’ve got one ahead of your rivals by early signings. Long way to go yet. UTG! I thought the opposite was supposed to be the case, with the likes of Rotherham are paying OTT by signing players early? I assume JCH was offered a knock out deal or he would have surely waited to see if any better deals materialised? Yes Topper. I meant that those clubs making signings early are paying more and that Rotherham have paid a lot more to get those players signed. Perhaps I wasn’t as clear as I should have been. ☹️ UTG!

You have to wonder if this was just another PR stunt by the owners, as what ambitious young player is ever going to choose us over Charlton, particularly if we're telling prospective signings finishing mid table is the aim. You may be right Topper but tbh, Charlton haven’t been that great for sometime and I’m not sure they’re any sleeping giant. As always time will tell. UTG!

I suppose it’s a tad annoying to miss out to a target in a straight choice between us and CAFC. But it’s a left back and without disrespecting that position I’ll not lose too much sleep over not getting what may have been our first choice for that position. If it keeps happening then I might but not yet. So I guess it gives us more money to spend on strikers where our priority has to be. And it does show that we’re looking to improve what we’ve had and not just settle for anything. A shame but perhaps not a real disaster.

Whilst I can understand what I think you’re getting at percy, if those clubs are in the Championship or already above their “natural level” on crowds under 5000 and clubs with 10,000+ in the NL does that make the smaller club very well run to be over-achieving? And is the club with the big crowds wasting them and under-achieving and possibly being badly run by being in the NL? Let’s face it no lower league club is surviving on crowds alone. All clubs have rich owners. We have to wait and see if Wycombe with thei new owner and Burton start spending above what we might expect. We were told the AQs were wealthy but, with hindsight, did they use it wisely to progress us? Or did they spend just to keep us treading water. And by keeping his minority % is he actually stopping us being an attractive proposition to someone who may be wealthier and prepared to match their vision with their finances? Something ultimately WAQ wasn’t prepared to do. Difficult questions I know. Tin hat firmly on!! 🤔 UTG! Can you post a link to where Wael ever suggested he wanted to keep a minority %, for all we know he may have been happy to sell up entirely but the Al Saaed's, or any other prospect purchasers, weren't prepared to buy him out. You really think so? You may be correct but I suspect you don’t really think that! And I guess that’s the point others have made. Without that minority holding we may well have been a more attractive proposition than Burton and even, perhaps, Wycombe. It’s only an opinion Topper but I think we’d be an attractive option in a city like Bristol with few larger clubs around us competing. After 8 and a half years I think we all know WAQ likes his celebrity and owning or even part-owning an EFL club can be used in his dealings around the world. Serious owners would likely not want to be in that position. But by all means you carry on thinking that and you may well be right that he was prepared to sell all his stake but if that was the case and the ASs couldn’t afford it all, then Wael could be accused of not ensuring we were sold to owners who would be able to take us forward. Of course, I’m not saying that it, but it would be the natural alternative to what I’ve suggested. And in the end we don’t know and are unlikely to know unless someone comes on here with some definitive information. UTG!

Sounds like they have more owners than fans🤣. Good for Burton but yeah I don’t really get pumping money into very small clubs already way above their “natural level” Will end up with the champ full of times with <5000 crowds and the national leagues full for 10-20k traditional teams at this rate! Whilst I can understand what I think you’re getting at percy, if those clubs are in the Championship or already above their “natural level” on crowds under 5000 and clubs with 10,000+ in the NL does that make the smaller club very well run to be over-achieving? According to a Swindon fan ITK Mrs OC is pregnant with their first child, so OC wants to move back nearer to his home in Portishead. The Swindon fan itk is only quoting what has been widely spread in the media and even by Nigel Clough, so is common knowledge. Well, I’m as ‘common’ as they come and I didn’t know that! So perhaps not so common.😉 UTG!

Surprised he’s not up for having a go at league one. Perhaps Clough had a word in his ear and said his opportunities would be limited. Completely agree. Mansfield fans seem to think your last sentence is correct. They’ve just signed an Australian international, Keanu Bacchus from St. Mirren who will be taking Ollie’s place. And instead of the digs on here about him not being good enough for League 1 they are genuinely sorry to be losing him and his whole-hearted endeavours. Their feelings are very different to many on here. He may well be older now but he’s played 130+ League 1 appearances for us and I’d say never let us down. Would I want him back? Probably not but I hope whoever we sign will have Ollie’s commitment and determination to always give 100% for the shirt. And if possible players, who are considering signing for us do their homework and check the forums I hope they don’t then reconsider when they see what is said about one of our own and one of our best over the past 10 years! Well collected Sir T. I suppose the extreme geographical teams will always have further to travel, so no surprise there. And the teams in the Midlands like Birmingham, Walsall and Northampton will have the least distance to travel. Again no surprise. But am surprised that Argyle aren’t higher than Exeter given they are even further away. I guess it’s to do with divisions having a higher percentage of northern teams or southern teams can sometimes make a big difference. Iirc last season Carlisle took more away fans to their matches than we did and were in top 7/8 of the division. So, yes, they certainly deserve respect.

Jamie Pilley, who has taken over, is also subject to a 3 month suspended sentence by the FA for ‘circumstances surrounding the takeover’!! Yet he is still able to pass the EFL criteria. Madness. No real insight into it all but I suspect the EFL were faced with either accepting that the Pilleys remain in charge or Fleetwood go bust, a cobbled together deal. And giving him a suspended sentence gets them out of trouble. Either way the EFL Fit and Proper Owner regulations are about as effective as a chocolate teapot and not worth the paper it’s written on.

Found this player called josh morris a 32 yr old free agent who has recently played for: Motherwell FC Salford Fleetwood Scunthorpe Utd. Bradford Blackburn Carlisle United Rotherham Yeovil Town Blackburn U18 Go back far enough on Gaschat and you’ll find a thread about him perhaps but certainly lots of posts. Iirc the summer of ‘17, ‘18 when he was at /or going to Fleetwood after his time at Scunthorpe. (I think) A decent player then but that was 6/7 years ago. UTG!

There’s only been ten signings by the whole of League One so far, wouldn’t read too much into odds yet. And Rotherham have signed 6 of them! 😉 Some very good players there and all before the end of May. UTG!

Perhaps but so far it’s not MT is just rumours and internet talk. Nothing confirmed yet. As to the defence being a priority I’m not so sure, with Taylor, Wilson, Hunt already here it certainly needs additions but I hope forwards and strikers with pace are a priority because we’re down to the bare bones in that area. And no bones at all for the first two matches so far. Long way to go. UTG! Of equal importance I’d say Wareham , we shipped a shed load of goals ! Both need sorting or we’ll be in trouble True yatton. Which is why we need ‘additions’ to defence but not sure that’s the priority. But we really do need several strikers. But you’re right we need both! 👍 UTG!
