Tony Craig probably has one season left in his legs, if that and has made mistakes that others would have been dropped for. We have seen what sticking with non performers and players who are either at the end if their career or simply not good enough can bring. Would be immensely disappointed if true, no where near enough good young prospects being blooded from our ranks and we do not seem to have any money to bring quality in.

I think we're probably setting our sights too high. If we sign one player like Toney, Cole or Bogle I'd be pleasantly surprised, if we sign 2 I'd be amazed. I know we need 2 strikers but DC doesn't like loans and to sign these guys would probably cost upwards of 500k each. Can't see us breaking our transfer record twice in the next 2 weeks. Bang on. My fear is that we sign no one, one of either Toney or Cole would be a pleasant and welcome surprise. My bigger fear is that we splurge it all more middle management and then have a 'defensive' season. You can see it now, 'with the appointment of our new head of pasty hydration the end of the dry over cooked pasty is merely years away.............' Whatever happens we need a 6ft+ bully with presence in the No9 shirt. As others have said, with a team now set up to deliver from the wings as well as up through the middle, we are toothless in attack and for what its worth you might as well stick Broadbent up there. If not at least drop him in for Craig so as at least we can try and play a ball out of defence, those Locks/Craig long balls are coming straight back otherwise.

Surely D.C. must have someone lined up ? Don't count on it. My expectation is another round of 'we could not get our targets' excuses and if we are lucky another Blissett. I am sure they were holding out on Ellis's move to be announced at the same time as the signing of a new left back. Well, left backs and midfield defensive players stop you losing games, not win them. If we could redirect some of this cash we are spending on back room staff we could maybe get something that might go towards making up some of the lost ground from last season. I see nothing that makes me feel we are more likely to put three points on the board so far and, in fact, the loss of Gaffney and Harrison takes away what little punch we have. Reilly may turn out to be decent striker but he is comparable, and I am happy to be corrected, to be of a more similar stature to Nichols than the departing duo. We need two strong strikers with physical presence to give us any chance this coming season. Good luck Ellis, you have done us proud and you deserve your chance, we are definitely poorer and weaker without you.

Lines was anonymous. Browner has become too comfortable imo, he doesnt seem to have progressed as a full back. He'll make a run with the ball, foot on the ball, turn round and pass sideways or backwards. Absolutely no confidence in getting forward. I wont slate Ellis too much, but he was ineffective today to say the least. At the end of the day Peterborough were okay, but not great. From the very first second they were closing us down with two men like a shot. Our players just couldnt cope and the ball was a hot potato leading to misplaced passes and hoofs all over the shop. Posh came to pressure us, they've done their research and see we lack quality on the ball bar players like Bodin and Sercombe (and lines when he can be arsed), so came to upset us on our home patch where we've been so strong for 3 seasons. If other teams want three points off us at the Mem, all they have to do is the same (press, harry and close us down) and its job done. We havent got the quality to cope. I thought Posh wouldnt be able to keep it up all game and would be dead on their arses by the hour mark, but they pretty much kept it up. Well organised side tbf.

We apparently want to sign Luke James, yet he signs for Forest Gumps. Seems we do not even have a top six L2 budget......., Think we only offered to take him as part of a double deal. Probably thought they would more likely say yes, as they would be getting 2 players off thier books. Plus that's if thier chairman was telling the truth! Good point, still concerned tho!

I've had a quick look, all I can find is speculation about their wealth. How much did they buy the club for? How much of their own money have they put in? Why did they take out a £10 million charge against the Memorial Stadium? They don't like to boast about thier wealth that's why. A reporter from thier country was interviewed when they took over. She said that's as well as the banks, they have hotels and other businesses all over the world. She said no one knows their total worth, but basically they are minted. They are also good friends with even richer people, they have contacts all over the place. Don't think moneys a problem, they just do things the right way. (null) But this is not ten or eleven key signings that will allow strong competition in League one. Two of these players are intended to be development squad players.
I still hope the names will come but being a human and a long standing Gashead I do fear we have been victims of being told what we wanted to hear.
Gagging to be proven wrong though.

All the Gas trying to tell DC how to run the show - give it a break & let him do what he does very well! You're not naive enough to think he takes any notice of what anyone on here has to say are you? Chill out iit's people's opinions which at the end of the day count for the sum of zilch. It would be pretty boring if everyone thought the same - and agreed with everything he did or said - it's a forum ffs. Not all, but then if he expects fans to attend local friendlies he has to realise that fans will also be aloof and say no thanks if there is nothing to see. I also believe the 10/11 new signings will turn out to be five and we will end up with no bigger a squad of first team players than last year.

That's the thing with keepers tho, Roos & Nichols looked great warming up, but crumbled during games Goalkeeping is a state of mind as well as ability. One mistake can haunt your career. For a young lad Lumley seemed mentally strong.

I tend to agree with you Henbury. There has been nothing coming from the club during the summer break, and this I find a bit disappointing, as the momentum and success of the last few years needs to be built on. Trying to be positive, with players contracts expiring today, maybe next week is when it will all ramp up? More positivity.....I think for DC to sign a five-year contract, he must have been given assurances that the club will be moving forward. We all know he will not be happy to spend the next three years or so sitting at mid-table level. So, make yourself a nice cup of tea, put your feet up and relax, and wait for the fireworks next week I agree whole heartedly. I do think though that if there is no news by the end of next week I will start to feel as though either we are going to get another one of those 'we tried for our targets' quotes (in which case the top six budget will sit in the same folder as the watertight contracts and the reptiles release fee) or we will have a degree of positive news, but not another ten signings - that ain't going to happen. I am sure faces will start to appear at the friendlies as trialists and I am sure that at least of 25% of DC's desired ten or eleven new faces will follow from this route. I also feel like (hope) we may get some positive news on season long loans next week and that part could be key to DC's trial choices. It is a shame though that clubs attitude to keeping everything highly secretive these days, however necessary, has taken a lot of the enjoyment for fans. We also seem to be very good at it! UTG and here's to those amazing burgers at WSM.

..and tonight Alex you are Miss World I'm 68 and I remember Eric Morley! I'm 52 and I think I remember breakfast. I also am 52. I cannot remember what I had for breakfast but I could go and check the dirty plate or my teeth if necessary. More interesting fact, my season ticket number this year is 1883.

No way the beard was exhausted. the beard doesn't even run, the universe moves around him. Apparently the earth spins twice as fast it should due to global warming. For the last fifteen years the beard has been holding it back using his own gravitational pull. His apparent lethargy on Saturday was due to the proximity of a planetary alignment. Lazy git.

Just to say I am really pleased with the quality of the new home shirt. Detail is nice and the material is far better quality than the balearic rip off style shirt fabric the Errea used.
One word of caution though - buy two sizes bigger! Being a robust guy I wear a 2XL Errea But the equivalent shirt in Macron is 4XXL. The Macron 3XXL is an inch smaller than the 2XL Errea. On the plus the shirts are comfortably longer.
Don't feel bad asking for it though, the bloke in front of me bought a 5XXL and that was not the biggest size!

Right Mr Taylor, sit down.
Its pre season, you don't have a club. You clearly don't want to go or you would already have signed. Your options, whatever they were are probably drying up quicker than a nun's private parts, in the middle if hell, in a heatwave.
If you sign for Oxford, you're a mercenary bsstard and your willy will shrink and fall off. If you sign for the shtt the same thing will happen, only slower and more painfully.
Your team mates will be playing in a friendly soon, while you'll be at home, pucking your nose, wondering what to do next.
I dont know if you realise, but you are in great danger of not having a club to play for.
Whoever is advising you to hold out, in a knob of the highest order, and only wants to line their own pockets.
You still have a place here. Where people want you to stay, where you'll he forgiven for missing the sitters because we believe in you (sit down t bone)
Sign the bloody contract, stop prat arseing around, get on with it and you play with your mates.
Is that a cross between two things? And he can do it cos of his large appendage? If he stays and misses sitters Yard Dog is likely to rip it off and nail it to the dug out!
