Can't agree that we should lose Parts. Ok he's not been fully fit this season but he was really good towards the end of last season showing that when he's fit and on form can be a very useful player. Scored a few goals and provided some good assists as I recall.

I just want January to be over with so I can stop deluding myself we might get a loan player in, GC has said a few times he won’t bring in for the sake of it.. Surely being relegation isn’t just for the sake of it? In other words GC has been told like DC was that their not willing to spend money and players would need to go out if so... I personally think they gave GC a 2 and half year contract because a new manager would need promises of spending etc and GC would just be happy have the number one job and try his luck with no investment...I can’t see any movement this window apart from smith going on loan and nowt in the summer as the clubs finances are in the sh** again He's only been in the job a week and already he's being the target of malicious conspiracy theories. Put it this way, I'd be very surprised if we don't bring anyone into the football club over the course of the window. We've lost Kelly so that will free up FFP space for us to get us a loan in at least. Lost Kelly? Hope you mean Martin!!!

Very happy with this news, really hope Mansell also stays involved with the first team, at least until the end of the season.

Isn't it about time this thread was locked? I reckon we should keep it open, that way all the ITK'ers will have one place they can post their BS rumours rather than spread it all over the place. Perhaps we should rename the thread "The ITK'ers dustbin thread".

Alright but to be fair under DC we were losing to all of the other poor teams in and around us at the bottom of the table, GC has managed to get us 10 out of 12 available points in the last 4 games giving us a fighting chance of climbing the table. Yes, but like I said, lets see how he gets on after the honeymoon period is over. Will the players still buy into his methods and philosophy when that bounce effect has worn off? For all our sakes I certainly hope so and I wish him the best of luck. UTG Agreed, but at least a decision has been made now so we can concentrate on the team. Despite our recent improvement in results it's clear that major issues with the squad remain, we must bring at least a couple of reliable goal scorers in during this window and that means we have to get some players out. GC's first test is going to be recruitment and how he handles the window, the next few weeks are going to be very interesting indeed. UTG

He's taken 10pts form a possible 12pts that must have involved some good tactics, regardless he's had to work with DC's players which included no left footed wingers and two main strikers who'd struggle to score in a brothel. A scrappy win against 10-man Fleetwood, a win against Walsall who had previously won 1 game out of 8 in the League, a win against a very poor Oxford side and a dire performance in the draw with Burton full of long ball football. Lets see how he gets on after the honeymoon period is over. Alright but to be fair under DC we were losing to all of the other poor teams in and around us at the bottom of the table, GC has managed to get us 10 out of 12 available points in the last 4 games giving us a fighting chance of climbing the table.

He's done enough so far to deserve a crack at it until the end of the season. The players have responded to him, he's shown he's hungry for it and has shown the sort of passion for the job that we Gasheads expect. I would hope that the Board have made serious consideration to assessing the situation in the summer, as to give him a long term contract after only 5 games in management would be a mistake. However, after his start, I see no reason to be disappointed that he will be the man to continue through to the end of the season. This is not a time for bringing in a total stranger who may rock the boat, this is a time for stability and continuity. This appointment, if true, would be a sensible albeit cheap (not necessarily bad) option, as long as it's short term unless continued success is achieved. Fingers crossed it will work out for us all. Well put. Exactly how I see it. GC has earned the chance to continue and with the transfer window already underway we've no time to lose with a new manager coming in. I would think GC already knows exactly who needs to be shipped out and have a list of target signings ready to go. That said GC is clearly a novice as a number 1 so I really hope Mansell and Hargreaves are allowed to stay as his 1st team support, I think they have also played a part in the turnaround.

I'm not moaning. I'm ecstatic with the win and still buzzing after the last minute winner. Best moment of this season by far. This was really just aimed at those suggesting Coughlan should be given the job after yesterdays result. I'm just saying it's too soon to come to that opinion and that we need to see how we get on in our next 3 games against average sides 11th, 18th and 16th in the table. If we come out of those with 5+ points it would be very hard to argue against Coughlan being given the chance to carry on. I agree with your points but boy did I enjoy that yesterday. It feels like a very long time since I have walked away from the mem with a beaming smile across my face. Out of next 4 games 3 are away so we've still got one hell of a challenge in front of us, if GC and the boys can deliver at least 5 points out of those games then I will be over moon!

He has made a promising start for sure, yesterday was a big improvement for all, not just the result but the performance from the team and you could feel the crowds energy which also helped them out. But in the words of DC "let's not paper over the cracks" we had 17 shots on goal, 3 on target and put away 2 of those. Thank god. We are still hitting the bloody woodwork and putting far too many easy chances wide! We must not let the improvement in performance and result yesterday allow us to be complacent in January, we must bring in at least 1 or 2 reliable forwards. If it we're me I'd have to ship Nichols and one other out, we need to bring in someone who has height and physical strength (like Ellis) and who can be a real nuicence in the box. We need some who can get their head on the end of crosses which at the moment are far too easy for the opposition to defend.I totally agree with you AND we also need one at the back who can do the same - who can also chip in with 4 or 5 from deadfall situations. Agree with you there but it's worth pointing out that we do actually have a couple of candidates on the bench already who haven't been given an opportunity so far this season. It was good to see Broadbent back yesterday and also Menayese has been on the bench for quite a few games, I know either of them don't have the experience of Craig and Locks but they do have a physical presence that we have been missing in both boxes imo. Last season Broadbent helped a lot by bringing the ball out from the back, there have been a lot of games so far this season where we seem to have struggled to get past the opposition's midfield, passing sideways and backwards, Broads could help in that area too.

Strange isn't it? That was probably the highlight of the season so far! I went mental when we scored the winner, haven't celebrated a goal like that for a long time. It was the best feeling ever, if I was one of these who left early I would be feeling sick as anything right now. Thanks for rubbing it in! (See my post above.) Sorry about that, you had a perfectly valid reason to go early so I wasn't trying to make you feel bad. But I can't understand anyone who left 5 mins before the end so they could get to their car early etc.

Yeah, I guess the powers that be definately know where the fan base stands on SC now! Do you think that would actually have a large baring on their decision? I’m not sure tbh.. cuz I think all the people that don’t want him would soon change their tune if we won games under him No not really just thought it was funny how the fans made their opinion known, if the owners won't communicate with us then we will with them lol! Tbh I think SC is the most experienced candidate in the running at the moment and although I'm not keen on his character if he can get us up the league and pushing for the playoffs I would get behind him.

Our Rovers back. Graham Coughlan is the new Messiah. Lets wait and see if he makes us bounce to mid table He has made a promising start for sure, yesterday was a big improvement for all, not just the result but the performance from the team and you could feel the crowds energy which also helped them out. It will be interesting to see how things pan out over the Christmas period with the games we have. If GC can build the boys confidence up, keep them playing like they have in the last 2 and bring home 5-6 points out of the next 4 games (bear in mind 3 are away!) then personally I'd prefer the club to stick with him for a while rather than risk unsettling things with an new manager.

Why do you do it? Do you not understand/feel football at all? By the way the final score was 2-1 Strange isn't it? That was probably the highlight of the season so far!
