Goodness gracious me - Brunt only turned 21 in May. He is the type of player who will get better with age and games - big centre forwards often do. Take Nanki Wells.Bombed out by Carlisle at Brunt's age, then within months a hot prospect.Players change with time (especially those with injuries at young ages), often quickly. People only have to look at Jason Roberts career records to see what a difference a few months make. I'm not saying Brunt, Harrison will be a Roberts or Wells but I vividly remember a 'Roberts out' campaign on the Rovers Forums back then until the first round of the FA Cup. Many here will remember Jason ROberts and even Rickie Lambert not to mention Michael Smith being described as the worst ever players to wear the quarters, not for days or weeks, but for a number of months (almost a full season for Lambert - I won his short sponsorship on ebay for £80 as no one else wanted it) On Taylor I'm getting exactly what I expected a link man who'll score 10 in a full season. That's all he's ever scored in a full season. DC knew that and probably didn't even need Soccerbase to check it. That's why the bloke is playing every week, he's delivering what the manager brought him in for.If he wasnt he wouldnt be playing. On White I advocated signing him from Winchester, then Salisbury but am afraid he's the shadow of the player I saw back then.He was a real will o'the wisp type slight, fast over first 5 yards. Sadly he is barely recognisable in terms of lasting 90 mins full pace. He's on the bench as a goal poacher and frankly because we've got precious few options. Maybe he'll get his fitness back with full time conditioning who knows - if he does he'll be a real asset at that stage but I didn't even recognise the bloke in first pre season friendly despite having seen him play at least 30 times before. Rovers fans this season have been the most impatient group of fans in our history, for good reason I guess, frustrated doesn't cover it. I guess the Twerton training gives us older ones a bit of experience watching a club on its arse trying to re-form. I think your overlooking Brunt as already had two full seasons out with serious knee problems, it will be a minor medical miracle if he's still playing past his mid twenties hence why he's still with us this season. As far as White if he's lost it due to lack of fitness how did he manage to score 5 goals at the end of last season in an average Salisbury team? Either he let himself go big time over the summer or we're not playing to his strengths. Not sure what you are suggesting about Taylor as if DC's happy with his contribution then who supposed to scoring the goals, as even when fully fit Brunt's never been prolific. I agree with you topper, it's a long time out and it must be hard getting back to fitness and match sharpness, I hope he can get back there and with us too. It's good to see that he played well, i'm happy for him and hopefully that will benefit Rovers and ultimately us gasheads. IMO we still need a goal scorer and we have one on the bench in JW, a goal poacher by his own admission, he must be unfit to not get a game, we'll never know unless DC comes out and says.

How did Brunt get on today, I see he played the full 90, anybody go and can give an assessment on him.

Clarke is a decent chap, cries a bit, promises the moon on a stick, and thats where it ends, he has no real football contacts, out of his depth, is unable to attract any decent players, appears to be joined at the hip with the useless stiker that is Matt Taylor, then he promises BRFC supporters that he will get the Gas promoted at the first attempt; seems to me he has set himself up to fail, he is also not helped by Captain Higgs and the sinking ship HMS Box 1. UTG Good to see another positive post by PH57, lets get behind the manager and players and believe we can do it, agreed Taylor is not scoring but apart from that he is playing well. You obviously can have your opinion and I'm having mine.

I agree with you Jon on most of your points, I like DC myself, good, honest manager, a change from we've had of late but we are not scoring nowhere near enough goals and we may pick up more points with a striker scoring, just give White a chance, we need at least one striker scoring, we will not go up without that happening.

If Clarkson hadn't missed an absolute sitter at Northampton we'd still be in the Football League. We're well rid of him along with all the other Scottish dross that McGhee brought in. Has to be the worst Manager of all time. Than buckle, god no, man was a clown

Yes, because when he has had his chance as a sub he has taken it. Right. So to clarify: You're in favour of not trying a player who was scoring for fun with Salisbury last season because he's failed to score in the handful of 10-20mins he's been thrown. Whilst sticking with Taylor who's scored 3 in over a dozen starts? We could try Harrison with White for a few games. DC has options, we need to try stuff. I think you're being generous with 10-20 mins, more like 5-10. I cannot understand why he has not been given a fair chance, the time to start him was against Dorchester. It's simple we aren't scoring and he can and has done at this level. A mate of mine who has been to FGR quite a lot when Taylor was there said and I quote him 'he misses more than he scores', which after watching him is correct, his link play, touch and winning the ball in the air is very good, just can't score goals. Give White a run Darrel.

This is a good topic as apart from match day discounts what do season ticket holders receive (apart from the recent voucher offers for some) what about the club offering reduced prices for cup matches and perhaps even a discount card for drinks & food of say 10%, or perhaps just one off drinks or food offers, would that help sell more ST's & /or build up a "feel good" factor about stumping up for an St? I'm happy someone agrees with me on this one, you know season after season you stump up the cash early, there are many fellow gasheads that I've spoken to that think the club should reward us for our early loyalty, after all that cash goes towards the playing squad for the next season. I agree with you topper on all the discounts you mentioned. Maybe if people are rewarded with some of the suggestions more people might just buy ST and buy them EARLY. So come on Brian SS take this one to the board, please.

He was assistant manager through all of that I cannot disagree with you, he was JW assistant but did he really have a say in any of it, you would think so but who knows.

Don't the club do a mini ST like 10 games or something, I believe you can pick your games.

He may well have contributed to our relegation, may be changing too much too soon but imo the rot was already set in a long time before those last 10 games. We were rubbish for a long time, lack of goals cost us our League place.

i'm with althepirate on this. we are 18 games in and 4th in the league and we will get better....
at the start of the season I feared we'd be looking a lot worse, so thank you Darrell.... it might not be pretty some of the time, but if you look at the goals we've scored this season I think people would have to admit that we've scored some cracking goals of which we haven't seen for a long time.... I agree, I feared the worst too, I never thought we'd in the top half, well done DC. I think we are missing a couple of players to be a good team. It is good to see we have players playing for the club and for they're shirt, we haven't seen that for a while, he has to be applauded for that alone.

It's a difficult one this. In fairness and please debate if you wish but a ST Holder gets a good deal the minute they sign up surely. The club get your money up front and you get in for a reduced price and are guaranteed tickets to any big (oh dear) games. I was a ST holder for 25 years, i can no longer afford the outlay anymore so i pay full price to get in. So it's actually costing me a lot of money nowadays to watch the lads. Please don't think i'm attacking your post/opinion, i'm just putting it out there that it's a pretty good deal to be a ST Holder and always has been in my opinion. Good thread though Gasfest. UTG I agree with you Jon, it is a good deal being a ST holder at about 11 quid for me in the Blackthorn(or now North terrace) and I feel for you having to pay the full whack as 18 quid is expensive, but I'm paying in April and your paying on the day, throughout the season, the club is on a win win situation, also as ST holders are too, just think there is room for a little loyalty. Am I asking for too much then?

I recently received some free tickets for buying my season ticket early, now I applaud the club in giving these out as it is nice to be rewarded for our loyalty but what about all the other ST holders who season after season have stumped up the cash for the club? What I propose is that instead of giving tickets that I can't use the club gives a reduction to ST holders for any home cup games, now that would be a benefit to us and maybe get a few more through the turnstiles. I know by giving these free tickets to me, it will get 3 new people coming to the MEM spending cash and hopefully they will come back for the next game and the next but what about really rewarding the ST holders for our loyalty. Maybe more will buy ST next season if we have better incentives. Anyone else feel this way? So come on BSS, how about putting this one forward to the club?

Hi I have carefully read the comments on this forum. I also have a friend who is a Hereford United supporter who has given me a detailed account of what happened there and I would do everything in my power to ensure it never happens at BRFC. This story is obviously based on gossip or speculation, therefore I am reluctant to comment unless I hear further. What I will say is that I have contacted the Chairman in light of this story and other messages you may have seen to me on twitter to ask if there is any truth in this story or any consortium takeovers. NH has assured me that I would be the first to be informed if that were the case. I have to say no such conversation has taken place, therefore again I have to assume that this story is based on gossip and speculation. best wishes Brian Thank you Brian for taking the time to find out and clear that up.

Name a player since Lambert that we have paid for and have then sold on for more money. Any of this years team looking like breaking that trend? Will Hoskins, I don't think we paid for him but we definitely sold him and he was another Trollope signing.
