Born in Australia, grew up in Cambridge, then Bristol for secondary school. Moved to Scotland and London for a while then back to Australia. Just bought my three year old aussie son his first rovers shirt. Start brainwashing them early...

All this delay is just compounding the perceived lack of transparency and awful communication from The Board. I agree that a CEO from a board of 2 (maybe 3 but that’s in dispute ffs!) taking a holiday during the season is unacceptable ( and just shows how little he cares). Starnes should have just sent Hamer along as his stunt double. We’d be none the wiser. If you'd lent them the bucket in your avatar they definitely would have got away with this.

I was there. Great night. Great scenes after the game and a top atmosphere on the terrace. Got home very late that night!

3. Finally as another pipe dream disappears over the horizon our home crumbles around us, it’s a disgrace. We’re currently the house on the street with a fridge in the front garden and a Cortina up on blocks. We’ve got to take some pride in our surroundings. Failure to learn from this experience will only compound the embarrassment felt in front of the neighbours. Yeah, yeah. The w**ker of a neighbour's got a big house, a fast car and a tidy wife. But ultimately he's still a w**ker.

Ollie made it very clear he didn't want to leave the Bristol area in that interview he did with the Evil Post a while back. Things can change but he was pretty adamant about it at the time.

Didn't Starnes say that he had no remit over stadium plans? If so, we'll probably hear about the football and commercial side of the club rather than anything to do with the stadium or training ground. Well yes, but then if Hamer had the stadium in his remit then maybe it's passed to Starnes now that the former left the building. Actually, that assumes the stadium is in anyone's remit at all which is probably a stretch...

Well this should be interesting. Hopefully Geoff asks the right questions...

Surely Netflix should come calling soon, never a dull moment at the Gas. Or a remake of a Hammer horror with Wael playing Dracula sucking the blood out of the club? Surely a Hamer horror...

19 days ago we were 2nd in the league at HT, how the fu@k has it gone so depressingly wrong!!?? It can still be turned around of course, but to date this really must be one of the worst starts for a new manager in gas history. Nobody seems to have won from this, it's not like GC is setting the world on fire at Mansfield either.

I was right behind BG's appointment but you'd have to say that his reign to date has been underwhelming to say the least. Badly needs a win to start putting some credits in the bank.

I'm a lot happier with Starnes being on board now Hamer's goneski. Could never understand the need for both of them. If we can get rid of the office in Londinium then that would probably be a step in the right direction too unless there's some remarkable reasoning behind it that we plebs aren't privy to.
Overall am hoping that the Garner era will coincide with some club changes for the better as well.

This is an exciting appointment. Every appointment carries risk, there's no guarantees that any manager will do well irrespective of experience level. But there's always something exciting in bringing in someone with new ideas. If I heard that interview correctly he's watched every game this season already! Watching DVDs doesn't win matches but it does get you a bloody good understanding of our style of play, our strengths and weaknesses and what is working for this set of players. His interview sounded confident and knowledgable and it sounds like he's keen to use the experience of the retained management staff.
However I feel for him a bit as he's on a bit of a hiding to nothing. We're in our highest league position for a long time (anyone care to tell me the last season when we were higher than 4th in league 1??) and we're on an unbeaten run. When GC came in we were in relegation form and losing games hand over fist so the only real way was up and expectations were low. BG has come in at the other end of the spectrum and whilst you wouldn't say the only way is down it's not going to be easy to improve on what GC has achieved in terms of results. Hopefully fans will give him time if we lose a few games without getting on his back too quickly - although hopefully we keep winning and it won't be an issue!
Welcome to the gas Ben!

I'm delighted that TC is playing so well but for me the big win is Kilgour and Menayese coming through to the first team and by all accounts looking so at home. Obviously TC has played a big part in this so hats off to him and to GC for giving them a chance. Big win for the club going forward.

The city and rovers messageboard shortly after that as well. Thinking 96/97 maybe? Good times.

Hold out for about 15 million. Might as well wipe our entire club debt in one go, right?

Wouldn't mind Ollie personally. Not everyone's cup of tea but he's a heart on his sleeve kind of guy and that worked with DC and GC. Don't see it happening though as he'd be at loggerheads with the owners a lot I suspect.
At the end of the day though nothing is guaranteed whoever we get in charge so any choice is a gamble.
That said I also wouldn't mind Hargreaves and Manse having a crack until the end of the season.

It's hard to see how the family can get out of this situation and offload the club with their bank balance intact now. I think we all know the club won't. As far as I see it, barring a miracle, everyone is ****ed. No we're not. If it was really that bad, they'd liquidate everything, the Ground, the Colony, sell whatever they can and walk away. They're not though. They're still bank rolling us, paying eveyone, it's not like we haven't been through all this before, and we're still here. Each to their own. I reckon you're dreaming though. Wael is a fantasist. I think he still believes he can somehow pull this off. Every day he is getting deeper into the sh*t though. Every day it gets harder to sell the club.

I believe he actually said "The stadium is fine" "The budget is good" "The training facilities are fine & better than Sheffield Wednesday's" A year ago, he was joyous at his first chance to be a manager. Suddenly he's potentially throwing us under a bus because the things he said were fine last season, are suddenly not fine. Doesn't leave a nice taste in my mouth. To be fair Gassy, didn't he only respond to a question asking how far can he take this club by responding "I don't know" and then stated he had a personal decision to make after talking to his wife and kids. Nothing specifically related to the training ground, budget etc? Or have I missed something? As you know I work away a lot and it definitely puts a lot of strain on my home life. Give it a few years and I guarantee I will need to change it because I know it has a shelf life if I want to keep my relationships at home going. I wonder if this is what is driving GC in this situation. I personally don't see it as GC throwing us under a bus. If he leaves then he's left us considerably better off position-wise than when he took over a year ago. And this is coming from someone who has never quite taken to him as much as I did DC. GC deserves and has deserved more credit than he's gotten from us Gasheads. I get what you are saying. But wouldn't you plan an exit strategy that was reasonable to both you and your employer rather than just suddenly dropping a bombshell on everyone out of nowhere? If things have changed quickly at home or if someone has become ill for example then surely you ask for a week's initial leave to go home to try and sort the issue or to at least see if it can be sorted. You then keep in contact with your employer and let them know where things are going. You don't just turn around with no warning and say I'm going to have a think tonight and tell you if I'm leaving tomorrow. And then by chance another potential employer just happens to open up a position for you within hours of your announcement. It kind of stinks if you ask me. I hope for GC's sake that there is nothing seriously wrong in terms of his family life but I don't feel like he's gone about this the right way at all.

Get a big crowd and back the boss and players loud and proud. UTG. I wonder what the reaction and atmosphere will be like if he’s gone by Saturday? I wonder what the reaction will be like if he hasn't gone though? He's done an amazing job to date but without a bit more explanation of what's going on he's made his bed a bit now, hasn't he??
