Agree with this. I can't imagine we'll be paying much in rent as it's the owners way of trying to beat the system. In terms of if they were selling up. Even if it was owned by the football club, they still own the football club so why does it matter? If Bristol Rovers are worth £20m without the training ground and £25m with it, it doesn't matter who actually owns the training ground. Dwane Sports would sell the club for £25m with the training ground or £20m without it then sell the training ground for another £5m. It would all work out the same in the end. P.S these figures are just hypothetical btw. I'm sure my valuation of the club is way out. UTG! This crossed my mind, but .... If this were to be the case how would we benefit from income streams on the new stadium under FFP rules ? I would also imagine it protects our infrastructure if BRFC ran into financial trouble??

Shame it's not the UWE that would sweeten things up a little!

It won't be the UWE. They'd be making far more of it if they were going to make a significant announcement regarding the stadium. It's probably to do with the training ground. If it was a player, why Thursday? That's exactly what I thought. Anyone know if a press conference been called?

Not strange but listened to the gas in Ibiza, sat around a pool of a 5 Star leisure spa hotel drinking a lovely cool bottle of beer!

Just been told apparently he's not going to make today's match or do the radio interview, having problems with his flight form Jordan landing gear not coming down and the pilots are worried that they will not be able to see the runway lights. Just saying!

If he redeveloped the Mem he would have to find the vat aswell so you could add another 12m on top of of a 60m development.

Not surprising, we want a piece of land which they own, they know we have no alternative and they know our chairman has money. We will be in this situation whichever piece of land we now try to buy, the only difference is this piece of land has planning permission and the necessary infrastructure. Whilst it might be a case of 'greedy uni tries to get as much as possible from rich football club owner', I am not convinced. I could never see what was in the original project for UWE. This is a large chunk of land with good infrastructure and also next to an expanding university. There will be a price below which it would make no sense whatsoever for UWE to sell. Equally, for the club's owners, this must be a business investment, not some philanthropic gesture. The build cost of 30-40m always seemed optimistic compared to other stadium build costs, and now it seems, the plan is to buy the land too. There will be a land cost, above which the project will not be viable to attract investment. If the maximum land price for the project to be viable is well below the minimum price the uni would be sensible to sell at, it won't happen. I have absolutely no knowledge, but this seems a more plausible explanation for the worrying silence on the project. On a brighter note, Bournemouth are surviving in the Prem with a 12,000 capacity stadium. I'm sure the 100m a year helps Bournemouth balance the books as well! 🤑🤑

I see Eric our groundsman is off for 10 weeks receiving treatment for an illness. I see Steve Drew is replacing him during this time. Does anybody know if this is the same Steve Drew who was groundsman at the Sh!t pit a few years ago? Looks like it's the same one! uk.linkedin.com/in/steve-drew-b182605b

I went to look at a job in Peters foods and in waiting area a Bristol blue glass vase with our pirate emblem sat proudly in their display cabinet. So a bit of history between us in the past. Was the vase awarded for nasty pasty of the year ? I think it was for distance thrown with out breaking up, reached the penalty area apparently.
