No Lambert wasn't even the problem with that side, we finished 11th the season after. There's an 18 month period where Disley, Elliott, Lescott, Hinton etc. are all released/sold and are replaced by mercenaries. That's the biggest challenge DC will have, making sure the likes of Macca or Mansell aren't replaced by players who have the 'quality' but not the mentality. This.

I do wonder if we will find it more difficult now to attract decent young loan players, with two already returning early and others not getting a game.
IMO whilst Boateng did have his off days (as did many others), he had the kind of impact in other games that players like Ollie Clarke can only dream of.

When Boateng plays it just shows how average O Clarke is in comparison. Thing is whether you rate O Clarke or not, with his shooting ability he's our most likely midfielder to get 5-10 goals a season. And playing a diamond you need your CMs to chip in with some goals. I would say Lines (and also Colkett) are our most likely midfielders to chip in with goals, agree we need more from midfield though.

Couldnt believe today we started a match at home, against non league opposition, with both O Clarke and Sinclair in a 3 man midfield. With 5 defenders as well we were so negative with no creativity. It was crying out for someone like Colkett to look to make stuff happen for the front two. Not sure what James had done to deserve a starting role, felt like it was just DC wanting to give him a run out.

My biggest frustration was that I just dont think that Montano and Moore have done enough to date to earn a starting position, both are passengers and have next to no impact on the game (the fact that both full backs offer more attacking threat speaks volumes). In my view, and playing to our strengths, if DC wants to play with width the only option at present is to play 3 centre halfs and wing backs.
This meant last night that we had to make 2 early subs to 'correct' this error, but bringing on Harrison for Sinclair was just bizarre - he is in poor form currently and surely Easter would have been able to slot in as an attacking midfielder which would allow him to use his ability to hold the ball up and bring players into play. There was no obvious urgent need to make the 3rd sub as early as he did and put as at risk should an injury occur, as it did unfortunately with JCS.
I was expecting DC to have held his hands up and say he had made an error with selection, but in fact pointed fingers at the players for underperforming. Clearly he does far more right than wrong, but this one just needs to be put to one side now with the focus on Saturday.

OK - I will disagree though, thought the atmosphere was awful for most of the game considering the numbers we had. Arguably there wasn't much to cheer, and it took the shenanigans with the MKD Centre back to provoke a reaction.

I would love to see us push the boat out and sign an experienced keeper, someone like Etheridge at Walsall.

Brown offered more attacking threat than Moore for most of the night!

So it has been announced today that Stuart Campbells Tampa Bay Rowdies will be joining the USL next season which will put them up against Sacramento Republic coached by a certain Paul Buckle.
Could be a bit interesting on the sidelines for those games.

Pretty sure we could mutually agree a termination of his contract which would allow him to become a free agent and sign for another clip. Hope not though.

Keith seems a good guy but surely we can do better with these interviews.

For some reason people seem to think we have pulled off some sort of coup, I'm A little disappointed to be honest, 2 youth players with no league experience who's parent club will most likely still be paying there wages and another loan who has played 20 games in league 2.... Hardly pushing the boat out is it . I for one am hoping that weal is going to turn out to be the messiah we all hoped he was. Out of interest, what were you expecting? It has been pretty clear for some time that Wael isnt going to be throwing money around on players (and rightly so in my opinion). I think we are still a little way off being able to compete with the top teams in this league, but this season is all about stability. Look at Burton to see what can be achieved without spending silly money.

We could have played our U21 team last night and they would have played better. Why we have signed that camel of a Goalie is beyond me I hope Lenny Laurence never plays for the club again - lasted 16 minutes and was out played by a 17 year old Time for Gafers to go out on loan to get some form back - dreadful Easter better off in Midfield Billy Boy Bodin - utter rubbish last night Lines - to many failed Hollywood balls again Did Roos have a mare then last night?

There is no way I am paying them full price to go again. Wasn't expecting it to be free but thought it would be half price at worst.

Completely agree re Easter - has there been a more improved player this summer? Would be one of the first names on my team sheet currently.

Wrong apparently- it's 9 pm on a Tuesday!!!! That's the shopping centre. The car park is open 6am to 3am 7 days a week but you have to go in and out of zone 1 so makes the tube more pricy. Im driving and parking on the outskirts and tubing it. You don't need to go into Zone 1.

There may well be better options but I always park in Westfield when driving to London, £8 and secure whilst being a short tube journey away.
