For me, I wouldnt have Clarke in a 3 or 4 man midfield with the options we currently have, I would go with Sinclair for his energy and pressing ability instead. I think we will see a similar formation to Tuesday night against a strong Peterborough team. I'm trying to work out your username. I wouldnt spend too long on it!

For me the issue with parking is a valid one. If there was a park & ride, or other easily accessible mode of transport from areas a bit further out without having to take 2 or 3 busses it could tempt more people in on matchday. I'm not the only fan I know that finds the traffic situation off-putting. Is the new Park and Ride at Emersons Green is now open? could do with buses to the Mem. This could take loads of traffic of the roads from Kingswood and Emerson Green. There is also the P&R at Parkway station which could be another option from that side of town.

When looking at the consented design a few things stood out for me: 1) How much they managed to squeeze on the site, the stadium is much bigger than I expected, this is partly due to the fact that it is wrapped with student accommodation and has a hotel on one corner. 2) The height of the stadium, it is 7 storeys high and with the big trusses on top of each stand it certainly is not a low rise and subtle structure like the UWE design, however this seems to be at least partly by design, i.e. to make an architectural statement. 3) The limited site area around the stadium and how little parking there is. What this tells me is that the club have already established a precedent for building a big stadium on our site in the not too distant past (2008). This is extremely positive as a lot of the neighbourhood issues have been successfully dealt with once before, meaning our chances of success this time around are reasonably high and risk of rejection quite low. I'm struggling to see anything that has really changed in terms of the environment and demographics around the site that would give cause to any sensible objections that the council would have to consider giving them an excuse to refuse consent. Furthermore the ground being a memorial site is surely designated for sports use and our redevelopment would secure that for the long term. Whist I agree with some of the concerns raised over the parking and access, having had some involvement in the dreaded arena, the council are actually pushing for less and less parking on developments to move people away from cars and onto public transport (disabled provisions apart of course). Part of the consent (which will be reinforced through conditions no doubt) will be match day traffic and access management, this is perfectly normal and happens at all large stadia. Anyone who has ever been to the millennium stadium will have experienced it, there are road closures and pedestrian marshalling measures put in place to manage the flow of people and vehicles to, from and around the ground. There is virtually none of this at the moment. For instance it would make sense to make Filton Avenue residents and club only access on match day and let all other traffic divert up and down Glos Rd and Muller Rd. The other thing is that we could decide to build a basement and put car parking under the stadium, this will of course come at a cost but it is certainly feasible from a technical perspective. Whilst the new design will no doubt be completely different to the 2008 version I have shared, I am now feeling very positive about what might be able to be achieved with a mem redevelopment and am excited to see what Wael & Co can come up with. Let's accept the decision that has been made, have some positive thinking about the potential we have on our own site and get fully behind the club on this. UTG! Great post.

I find it interesting that in both Hamer and Wael's interviews they talk a few times about needing to upgrade the stadium 'for the fans', but surely it would be primarily be to allow the club to progress, increase revenue etc? Surely the more attractive it is for fans, the more revenue you can get from them. Yeah I get that - was just thinking about it more commercially I guess in terms of revenue outside of a matchday, sponsorship etc.

Couple of observations which would of made the whole experience much easier to follow, 1-Massive need for time and score in top left, 2-Ability to sync radio commentary to picture, audio of the fans was out of sync with the picture as well 😳🔫 Overall it has the potential to be really good but hoping they will make improvements along the way, And a free VPN on the iPhone worked a treat, even with a UK billing address, Not the biggest fan of watching Doncaster for the first 5 mins though! 😂😂 Is a VPN needed to watch the interviews/highlights etc with the international package once purchased or just the live games?

Just repeating what a very reliable source told me at 7:45am this morning True or not - who knows? But events over the past 48 hours have been astounding. My take, the club could not generate financial backing/interest and Hani pulled the plug i.e. No funds. Thats my take as well - they are trying to use the 'not reaching agreement' as cover for pulling out completely.

The most disappointing thing for me was that the whole interview/press conference was reactive - he was answering questions asked of him but gave nothing away about what the plans are now. The training ground wasnt mentioned either which I think is concerning, you would have thought they would have dined out on that being something that we can influence in the short term to move the club forward.

Would be delighted with a point but fear a comprehensive defeat, 3-1. Tough place to go first game of the season.

Vice chancellor on radio bris.....rovers walked away.....uwe claim its madness.....best site with 'clean' passed planning in whole of country.....uwe already made confidential comprimise CLUB MUST MAKE STATEMENT NOW
I agree, we must have a statement now on the reasons why they have walked away. Also, would like to know who exactly was at the meeting with UWE. As fans, once again we have been kicked in the teeth by the people who we depend on to run out football club! This really is embarresing, what must they be thinking over the other side of the Avon? But there again, we are Bristol Rovers!
So what happens next? Crucially, the team MUST produce results on the pitch. Failure this season, and we really will see the Beginning Of The End for our beloved Bristol Rovers. UTG.

Maybe just me but he didn't seem particularly happy, like he had also just heard about the stadium. Very surprising (and concerning) if true.

I still don't get why we need two basically first team goalies if money is tight, when for years we've struggled with loan goalies and a weak reserve goalie. Perhaps DC does have a top 6 budget but who knows. Are you suggesting that is the answer? Because that's what the majority of moans on here have been about the last couple of years. If we signed one keeper and he didn't look confident or make a great start, everyone would be slating DC's recruitment. Having two means that there is always competition meaning whoever is first choice knows they have to keep working hard because a couple of bad games means they're out. Maybe that lack of competition is the reason our keepers have been so poor since our Conference season. I personally think that getting two solid first team keepers in is our best business of the window so far. Agreed, plus the changes in the loan windows now mean that there is no way of getting someone in at short notice if the no.1 keeper suffered an injury/suspension. I think that DC will rotate the two, certianly for cup games, to keep them both fresh.

When comparing the squads, we cant really say we have 'lost' Lumley, Sweeney and other loanees - they were never ours in the first place.

Away shirt completely ruined by an absolutely pathetic sponsor. Not sure who would have been ultimately responsible as that is not their company logo (which is half decent) but that is seriously disappointing considering that's otherwise the best away shirt we've ever had. Completely agree. It looks amateur, its far too large and is way too high up the shirt (even higher than the home sponsor). Its a real shame as I love the kit, but it just ruins it. Its incredible that it would likely go through an extensive design process by professionals, and then signed off by the club, and not corrected. Macron havent had a good run with sponsors to date, last seasons home shirt looked poor with the black lettering. Home shirt looks fine - pretty uninspiring really and I doesnt encourage me to pick one up.

we definitely need a break from the same yellow away kit every season i do like the idea of playing with the quarters home and away Agreed - the quarters are pretty unique now if you look through the football league.

Incredible that Burn and Partington are injured ... How exactly ? They haven't played a handful of games for us between them. Can players only get injured in first team games? News to me.
