It’s only the FA Cup, we never do well in it...... It’s a Mickey Mouse cup the Checkatrade!!! Remember when we were at Braintree and Dover? We could be Tranmere now without Mansell! ================================ * The Chief defensive organiser played again tonight * Not one winger started let alone one decent one in the squad * Played 4 central midfielders again tonight Thankfully we have the first 3 points to rely on, it’s just the cup. Oh sh**, the club down the road appreciate the cup and will have 27,000 watching it in a few weeks🤔 Starting to show signs of a Trollope demise and 4-2, well done Lockyer 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Why dont you fu** off to the club down the road then? I'm sorry but that's a water poor comment to make to any true Rovers supporter.

If it's a mid-table league 1 budget as DC suggests then it's the biggest budget that we've had in years and DC has nothing to grumble about budget wise in my view. Anything less than mid-table and we are under performing against budget to use DC own yardstick. I'd be surprised if no money is available in January for at least a couple of additions we so clearly need. As long as we stay up this season then I'll be happy. With regards to January signings -- I believe the couple of additions needed are a taller centre forward who could hold up play/win headers and create chances for Nicholls & Harrison and also a Brian Godfrey type hardman midfielder. Forget about sacking the manager -- We will be alright and finish top ten.

I think people on here are too critical of stevek he goes to every game and wants the best for the club i know we all want the same but like me he's probably over ambitious too soon but 55 years waiting for a stadium with better facilities etc can be very frustrating,we have a great manager in place and good squad but there's always room for improvement do we have good owners now only time will tell we're a little club in a big city and way behind are neighbours. So come on be fair to stevek especially when you got a so called gashead calling fans scabs. This post is the most sensible one I have read in a very long time.

we have bodin, nicholls, telford, harrison, kavanagh and gaffney, were a league 1 side not chelsea so were fine. Surely Kavanagh was signed for the development squad so does not really count. Should already have enough up front anyway. We defo need a winger and I would certainly go all out to get Wheeler of Exeter in. With regards to Defensive midfielder maybe someone else but I would'nt be too worried if we didn't sign another.

Get Wheeler in from Exeter loan out Harrison and sign a biggish striker. Simple.

I like going to the mem. I hope they redevelop it and make it a better stadium. I suspect with a few million on some new stands they could get capacity up to 15 or 16000 and that would be quite adequate for the next few years. I like it, a suburban ground that the away fans will really enjoy coming to as well. Evolution not revolution is probably just what is required! Yeah, the Mem is in a superb location. The only problem is the neighbours. If we can redevelop it to a 16,000er that will be plenty for us. Maybe plenty for us now -- But not if we ever get promotion. The Mem is a dump and a re-developed Mem will be a re-developed dump. Area to re-develop is too small and the parking facilities are atrocious.

Thanks Oldgas, I think my decision is final because I have enjoyed the summer and have too many hobbies which take up a lot of time and really three hours after the match I just can't afford anymore. I will continue to participate in the forum and will still be going to all matches. Cheers That's a real pity because I really like reading your threads -- But I understand why you feel the need to stop. Hopefully somebody else will take on this mantle because I feel it has always been a better write up than any of our national or local papers. It has been done by a true fan of Rovers. Good luck and thanks for the time and effort you have given.

Alan Warboys and Jason Roberts in my view were two of the best signings made.

My thoughts regarding this summers transfer activity.
Yes we had Lumley but was he that good or was it the fact he played behind a very good CB in Sweeney ? Think the options of two established goalies are better this season.
With regards to Hartley and Clark -Salter not really a great loss. Biggest loss is Sweeney who either needs to be re signed or someone similar in ability.
As you say Mansell has been replaced by Sercombe ( midfield numbers ) who I suspect will offer us a lot more. Bola cancels out Harris. Hopefully Nicholls will score more than James & Easter put together.
With the extra 4 additions I reckon this lot will easily surpass last seasons squad.

There isn't not enough difference in the size of any of those clubsfor that to be the deciding factor. He'd come because the management at the club sold him a vision of where they want to be. He isn't going to say no because we have similar fan base lol. He'd come if we offered him more money or a better contract.

Rovers play two friendly fixtures tomorrow, taking on Melksham Town at The Oakfield Stadium and Yate Town at Lodge Road, with both games kicking off at 3.00pm. Darrell Clarke will be taking the following squad to Melksham; Adam Smith, Sam Slocombe, Luke Russe, Daniel Leadbitter, James Clarke, Liam Sercombe, Ollie Clarke, Chris Lines, Stuart Sinclair, Billy Bodin, Byron Moore, Ryan Broom, Rory Gaffney, Ellis Harrison, Lee Brown. The manager will also include four triallists in the squad that travels to Wiltshire. Chris Hargreaves will be in charge of the following squad that will be travelling to Yate; Thom Jonkerman, Alexis Junior, Harry Goode, Rollin Menayese, Mo Baghdadi, Brandon Scott, Cameron Hargreaves, Kane Fitzgerald, James Carvell, Lewis Ellington, Cameron Ebbutt, Ghassan Hassan, Tom Rose, Casey Reid, Liam Edwards, Toby Rennie, Connor Jones, Ryan Penny, Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist, Carlo Santaro, James Spruce, Sam Phillips. You were saying? A reasonable statement to make at the time I feel - and since then how many new players have been signed? Strangely I wasn't born with hindsight - you're obviously one of the lucky ones - but we're still probably 5/6 players short of what DC was saying he needed at that time to complete his senior squad. Totally agree another 5/6 players required. But by the first game we surely must have signed a solid Centre Back and two strikers. Other 2/3 can be purchased later in August.

Thats michael appleton, maybe the op meant him? I think Colin may have been his dad -- Leicester City captain in the early 1960's. Played in at least one cup final maybe two.

What was the worst day for you? Mine was Dover away. I`ve seen worse performances ( far worse ) but to be so close to having automatic promotion back to the Football League in our own hands, and then to lose it in the 88th minute, was utterly dispiriting. Worst car journey coming home, I`ve ever known. Tottenham away when we got thumped 9 nil.

Apols if anything like this has already been done but I've not be able to get on forum much recently. Anyway... Loads of ex-players being released so let's put them all in a big thread pot, stir them up and ask... Would you have him back? ??!!! 😂😂 The answer to any ex players = They should stay ex players . So no wouldn't have any of them back.

Just seen the interview and I thought it was what every Rovers fan would have wanted to here. Basically we have got to the point of where DC wanted to get to in his interview 3 years ago and for us not to stagnate ( push on ) the board need to up his budget to get better players in for next season. Basically over to Wael.
I reckon we are in for a very interesting summer and quite a few changes ( in & outs ) to the squad.
