Can't help but feel 1st goal will decide the Barnet game. Halifax get it and Barnet could implode, Barnet get it and they'll relax and probably win comfortably.

I'm in. In my view, if we win this one and Macclesfield the rest will take care of itself. If you are having to choose, the support matters most at these two.

Anybody else really relieved Taylor is fit?
I didn't think I rated him until I thought that he would be missing!

Must be the first time Matty Taylor has been compared to Dennis Bergkamp, surely!

And Sainsbury can't just walk in and out of contracts as they see fit. I work for a large company and our employment contracts are our saving grace, as the firm have to abide by them rigidly at all times. Nobody is bigger than the law I admire your confidence in the British legal system, but fear in a David v Golliath case of this type it's unfortunately somewhat naive.

Think we should hold off for now. There will be others - like myself - who are not 100% sure we should go down this route... YET. If others do feel the same and, as a result, the petition doesn't receive huge backing, that could actually go against us. I think we should hold off for now. Fine. I can't understand why you'd be against doing it now, while the issue is in the news but not later when everyone's moved on tbh. Personally think it's a good idea, but one which should be passed through the club to understand any potential implications before starting. Last thing we want to do is jeopardise the pending court action. Isn't this what BSS is for?!

Agree with Hugo. Besides, what will you accuse Shamesburys of? They haven't refused to pay up since we completed our bit of the contract. We have issued proceedings in order to expedite things. They could pay up prior to the hearing or on the way out, or indeed any time up to the main hearing. All they have said was before our last writ, and nothing since unless I have missed something. Apologies if I have. Not proposing to make accusations. Broad premise would be;- - we believe Sainsbury's and Bristol Rovers entered into a contract in good faith - we believe that Sainsbury's are not fulfilling their contractual obligations - we believe that they are using their position of power as a big corporation over a small company whereby they believe we will not have the financial power to enforce them to fulfil their obligation - as such, as a stakeholder in that small company, I will no longer shop at their stores until they have fulfilled their obligations Signed by 10,000 people, who would on average spend £10 per week there, sums £5.2 million per annum which is enough for them to care.

I think we should wait for directions from the Club for this sort of thing. Could be a bad move otherwise. On a personal note I have not shopped in Sainsburys since they started trying shaft us. In terms of the not shopping at Sainsbury's point, nor have I which is what prompted the idea. If there's more of us, why not formailse it and tell them - would certainly have more of an impact than us all doing it silently.

From the outside looking in, it appears that Sainsbury's are using their financial muscle to try to walk away from a binding contract with a small company (us).
I am sure they do this all the time with suppliers etc, the one difference with a football club is that this company has thousands of stakeholders.
Is there any value in us starting a petition to leavarage this unique position? Perhaps we say we will boycott their stores until they honour the contract? 10k people boycotting their stores may make them listen considering the current retail environment?
If people think it's a goer, we could run past BSS to ensure it would not be detrimental to the hearing before starting, just feels like we should be doing something!

Are we not going bust this evening then?
Everyone seemed to 'know' we were on the brink of administration last night. However, our Chairman (who just might be closer to the details) today categorically states that we're ok financially and makes the very valid point of why would we invest heavily on Easter if we were about to go into administration.

Crikey, so much negativity about signing a player from the league 3 above us.
Maybe, as a Cardiff lad, he doesn't want to play for Newport? Maybe Newport don't need a striker? Maybe Newport can't afford him? Maybe, just maybe, he fancies the excitement of a promotion race with some decent crowds playing for an old pal?!
If he does sign, please get excited you miserable lot.
Players often mention they read prospective team's forums before signing, if he did I wouldn't blame him for having second thoughts.

2nd favourite to be the new Gillingham manager. Would be fantastic for us if he left Barnet, but Hessenthaler appears to be overwhelming favourite.
Likely to be a few managerial changes in L1 and L2 coming up, surely he'll get offered one?!

Seems to me a bid of c£100k to Barnet for Akinde would be a wise move.
If we got him he effectively guarantees goals at this level and significanltly weakens our rivals.
If they reject (most likely) then we may out the cat amongst the pigeons at Barnet for no cost.
It's the classic trick which Barca and Real have pulled on teams like Athletico/Valencia in the past. Whilst we're not quite Barcelona(!), few would argue with the biggest club in this league.

Good to hear, need to ensure the pressure for places keeps players at the top their game.
Still can't help thinking that signing a experienced striker/poacher is what we need to win the tight games.
One thing's for sure, we're a lot more attractive proposition to join than when we signed Martin etc.

As the man in-charge when we went down, you would have to expect that DC would want to 'right the wrong' before he even thought about joining another club.
