Similar sort of question to the OP. About to buy the current home shirt and I'm 5ft 7/8 slim build. Just in terms of length of the shirt anyone of a similar size got any advice on whether I should get small/medium? Had small errea shirts that have been a great fit then one of the yellow away ones a few years ago was barely going down to my waist so I've also bought medium in the past I ordered both home and away in a large in the end and they turned out to be a perfect fit. I'm 5'10" and medium build.

I did wonder why Nick had got Colin Sexstone in when he must have known there was a strong likelihood the club was being sold lock, stock and barrel pretty soon and all of the board would therefore step down anyway. Makes sense if Colin made the link to Hamer and then to the Al Qadis.

I haven't listened to any of the gascasts before. I listened to this one and thought it was great so well done lads. For someone like me living overseas you guys are providing a really good insight into the goings-on at the club and a different view to the official line. Keep it up!

UWE

Allegedly UWE, having agreed to sell us the lease for £8m in return for naming rights, have upped that to £11M. They also want all matchday car parking revenue, worth c. £400k per annum. We had no contract in place with UWE, so they are free to change terms as they wish. I can see why the new owners might want to look at this in more detail before agreeing anything. Owning the land is obviously desirable, but for that to happen I assume UWE will want considerably more than £8m or £11m. I'm a bit confused about this to be honest. I thought the original idea of the lease was for us to pay UWE a peppercorn rent, but you are saying actually the lease was originally for 8 million? Or are you saying it was a peppercorn rent originally, but if we want to actually purchase the freehold they then wanted 8 million, now revised to 11 million?

New ownership has changed the dynamic completely with regards to DC. A love in with a new owner ups the pressure, we have no bad guy to blame currently and what funds DC is given will come with more expectation. From previously working on a ( relatively ) small budget he had designs on getting us to league 1 playoffs, many will now be ( rightly or wrongly ) expecting more. Hugely different than what he signed up for. My hope is a good working relationship to ease any fears and that DC gets to stay in charge wherever we're heading. Bang on. Before Friday, expectations were mid table div 2 this season. Alright we hoped, nobody really believed 2 promotions back to back was doable. Now he has a boss who is expecting league 1 or championship. I hope DC is up for the challenge but bet he needs to swallow hard a few times I don't see that at all. Wael has been extremely grounded in his interviews to date. He refused to give a five or ten year plan, he also said he knew it was a long term project and he was most focused on getting things right off the field first. He knew about Darrell's tactics variations in games and he seemed perfectly happy with what he's done to get us out of the conference. For me, Wael couldn't have been more accommodating of the current setup - most rich new owners would have come in shouting the odds saying we're off to the champions league in 5 years time. As far as I can see Wael has indicated he'd rather not be watching league 2 football but I don't remember him using the words league 1, championship or premiership at all? (I stand to be corrected though of course!) It's all words at the moment of course but all I see is a rich family man who understands football, understands the club and wants to build a sustainable business for him, his family and us to enjoy. I bloody hope it works out like that anyway! I think DC is a little defensive because it's very difficult to manage the players and staff on such short notice of the changes when the more fringe players are probably all of a sudden a little concerned for their jobs. He is protective of his playing staff and I think that's totally understandable and laudable - he admitted that it was just part and parcel of football in the interview. I really love the way he goes about it to be honest. But I didn't see him looking worried about his own position - lets face it he'd walk into another job so easily right now if we made the bonkers decision to get rid of him. Unless there is some kind of personality clash I can't see DC going anywhere. If anything I feel like we could now keep DC longer as he's less likely to be poached by other clubs as we have the resources to allow him to achieve his goals at this club. Ditto Lockyer and a few of our other good players.

It's a slightly more silvery, jewel-encrusted spoon though in fairness.

There seems to be two different colour versions of the AJIB logo. FFS will someone tell Brian and Ken to have a word with Wael and get him to use the blue one and not the red one on our new kit... www.ajib.com/en

I take on board what you are saying, but they could sell the mem site for 8 million quid and develop a much cheaper purpose built training site out of town. I'm not saying that is what they should do but wouldn't that be a more attractive proposition to a businessman than siting a training ground on such a valuable piece of land as the mem? Unless they want to build a hotel or similar on the mem site as well and develop it as a multi-use site for example. Exciting times all round really with so many possibilities. Yes as you say the possibilities are almost endless, i just don't think they are in the business of selling assets, I do think they will use it in some form or another, what we will have to wait and see. Whatever happens I don't think they give a flying fig about Sainsbury's, as an aside and just a feeling, I don't think sainsbury's would have got that contract past them either. Talking of lawyers, Al Qadi's international law firm seem jolly pleased with the deal. Mike Turner, Corporate partner at Taylor Wessing added: “Football clubs as an asset class present their own particular challenges but this is a transaction on which it has been a pleasure to work. Bristol Rovers will no doubt make exceptional strides due to the Al Qadi family’s involvement and commitment and we wish all parties every success going forward.”

On a serious note could they sell off what is left of the car park and use that to fund the old stadium itself as a training facility for Rovers and other local clubs and maybe some community use? Probably not as I'm sure they want to maximise their revenue from the sale of the site, but it's a nice idea. I'm not so sure they will sell the site, looking at their portfolio it looks like they are relatively cash poor compared to their assets, that suggests to me they are in the business of keeping their assets. Also if has been suggested by some that they want the UWE freehold is correct then I really do believe they are here for the long haul and as others have suggested why not keep the mem to develop as a training / academy centre. It would probably fit nicely into a long term plan. I take on board what you are saying, but they could sell the mem site for 8 million quid and develop a much cheaper purpose built training site out of town. Via Daily Mail's Charles Sale Column.... Seems Hamer is popular That is a bit odd as a bit of googling will tell you he wasn't that popular at Swansea when he left. "God help them!" was a comment by a Swansea fan on one of their forums regarding his position at Rovers - although he clearly didn't know much about the takeover or he would have known that we need Allah's help on this one.

I actually like the idea of evolution not revolution. It should be posted on every rovers site and above the gates. I want us to do well, to be as good as we can be, but I also want to be able to recognise the club I've suffered with for 46 years. If Mesi signed tomorrow I'd still rather Stu played and Mesi had to earn his place. We are Rovers, we need to stay Rovers. (albeit a bit more relaxed about our current account overdraft) Lets be honest, Stu would have Messi on toast. Oh hang on, that was another thread wasn't it!

How about, as a fitting tribute to the thread, people fill the last few pages before 300 with suggestions of where they think we will be in ten years time as a club? Would certainly provide some entertainment in ten years time to pull it out of the vault and compare to the reality.
Gasincider should probably have the second last post of the thread when we get to page 300. And maybe Gaz can finish it off with a tick-tock tick-tock...
Good times.

There has been a lot of mentions of the 'family club' from Wael in his interviews so free entry for kids may well be something he might consider. I hope so as it would be a great first step in his journey with the club.

Definitely feeling both excitement and apprehension. Have to say that Wael came across well - very understated but with clear intentions and an understanding of the club, the fans and the time and patience it may take to build the foundations we need. Hamer also came across quite well although a bit of googling will reveal that he's not exactly popular at Swansea. Have to say I'm more concerned about Hamer than Al Qadi.

In keeping with other recent developments maybe there should be a "teds corner" section of the forum so they can post their tripe somewhere and not clutter up the main board for the grown ups.
I never understand why you'd want to post on a rivals board anyway. You have to temper what you really want to say to avoid the worst of the abuse (or being banned) and therefore it's a totally pointless exercise.
And simply putting 'inpeace' at the end of your club name and then posting on your rivals noisy neighbours forum doesn't exonerate you from the rules that apply to your fellow inbreds who come over here.

How long was the build time on the UWE? Maybe they felt they could get it done for the season after next but a deal would need to be struck soon. 62 weeks. Plenty of time for pre-season 2017. That's optimistic. Once Radish discovers that the UWE site is actually the home to a colony of the endangered lesser spotted newt we'll be waiting another five years while she contests that in the name of the good people of Bristol.

At last! Now I know why we are called The Black Arabs!!! Now there's a great question. If the Jordanians wanted to change the name of the club to the black arabs and change the kit to black with the yellow sash would you agree? I mean technically it's more rovers than blue and white quarters! And yes, it's hypothetical before I get called out by someone...

Pretty much nailed on that we'll lose tomorrow if the Jordanians are watching from the stands. Beyond that you'd have to hope they'd keep hold of DC seeing as he's doing a pretty good job so far.
