Just paid a visit to Falkirk's Stadium.Packed with cars and seems the venue is used for Conferences,Kiddies footy, cafes etc..Not even Scottish prem but stadium on the outskirts of the town-pop 160,00,with loads of parking.Gave me a tour and just wish we had something even vaguely similar. Did you also visit the Kelpies just around the corner?

I'm just being ganged up on now. One slip of the keyboard and they're on you. Like vultures. Sorry aghast, meant nothing nasty, but you know how the forum pedants like to have everything correct!

If GC was considering Plymouth it seems a bit odd that he would go about releasing players or telling they won't get new deals at least. Surely he could have postponed that by a week or so, taken the Plymouth job and just left it up to whoever comes next to decide who they want to offer deals to. Personally I wouldn't blame him for leaving. We are sh**e off the pitch and Plymouth are as big a club as us with better facilities. What's more some of our fans seem more than a little ungrateful for him keeping us up with once of the worse squads we've seen in a long time. Just what I thought. Pretty bizarre to be leaving the club, and just before you do, you release our Welsh international, our bearded motivator and our midfield maestro (he's one of our own). The only way that would happen is if GC were to leave for a rival club, similar to ourselves, in order to make them more competitive with us, and our owners have astonishingly failed to spot the impending disaster. Hmm... He didn't "release our Welsh international".
Our Welsh international ran his contract down so that he could become a free agent.

He will sit tight until sat afternoon 5pm If Plymouth survive he will be off If they drop he will stay here That would be strange timing, seeing as we don't kick off until 5.30pm.

Luton losing.... we still keep the record for the longest run without losing in our league. 😊 I thought the game against us equalled it, and they've played and not lost since They set a new record of 28 games in the same season, but our record of 27 in a season plus 5 from the end of the previous season, means our 32 game record still stands.

Remember the 73/74 very well and the unbeaten league run, still didn't win league though but went up as runners up also first defeat of season was away at championship Notts Forest 4-3 in cup if i remember rightly, the Wrexam game was a feisty affair and we wuz robbed! If we are counting cup games the first defeat was in August at Bournemouth in the League Cup 0-1, 3 days after we beaten them 3-0 on the opening day at their place. UTG! ps Sorry hometobarnsley, just seen your reply. Apologies. No worries. I'm glad my ageing brain cell remembered it correctly.

Our first defeat was actually the second game of the season - away at Bournemouth - three days after our opening day win there. Lost 1-0 in the League Cup. I seem to remember they had two defenders marking Big Al all game.

Mine was the old Meadow Lane, Notts County ground in 1970 or 71. It really as an old-fashioned ground. The stands were wooden and the main stand was all standing I seem to remember. The terraces were sleepers and ash, and it really was in n a terrible state. Football watching facilities were dreadful in that period, and that ground would probably be condemned under present H & S rules. The area the stadium was in is called The Meadows, a name that brings to mind pleasant, sunny uplands with cattle peacefully grazing on the verdant herniated. Nothing could be further from the truth! The area consisted of a grim Victorian housing estate with 2 up 2 down terraces of back to back houses, probably only equipped with outdoor privvies. It made St Pauls or Easton look like Stoke Bishop. I next went there for the area final on the Dafty Cup. We outnumbered their fans that evening, the ground had been renewed, and the grim Victorian streets had been cleared away and replaced with grim, modern dwellings, no doubt equipped with indoor bathrooms and sanitation. What happened in the first game?, I hear you ask. 2-0 down at half time, went on to win 3-2. Harold was among the scorers. The players came out and talked to the fans outside the changing rooms while we were waiting to board the supporters club coaches. Nowadays if you want to visit a sh** ground with open terraces etc, why, visit the Mem! I went to that game. On the morning of the match, Rick Sheppard got out of bed with a bad back so an emergency phone call was made back to Bristol and reserve goalkeeper Alan Clarke was hastily driven up to Nottingham. Might have been his league debut as he was very young and very nervous. Notts two goals were an o.g. and a penalty. Seem to remember Bobby Jones had a brilliant second half and took them apart, scored at least once (maybe twice) and as you said, ran out 3-2 winners.
On the strength of that win, went to watch Rovers at Brighton the following Tuesday night. Don't think Ricky was fully fit as he didn't move too well. Rovers lost 3-1.

Baxter... Ronnie or his son no doubt. Remember that documentary called Muscle about those clowns 🤡 I think Ronnie Baxter worked the doors at Tiffanys in the 1970's & 80's. An absolute thug, but he also raised a fair bit for charity over the years, he used to dress up as a fairy for various charitable events, I seem to recall. For those of you wondering where Tiffanys was, the top Of Blackboy Hill, where the Spire hospital now stands. Tiffanys? I can remember when it was called The Glen!!

Matthews is fit which is great news, Lockyer definitely out though according to Sky sports. Where’s everyone heading for a beer since we won’t be able to have a drink near the ground. UTG 🔵⚪️ Hammersmith Some people on here will, if we lose.

Can't remember the last time we played QPR? Just had a look, 1980 was the last match, we're unbeaten in 4 against them.... Um, we've actually lost the last 4 times we played them.

We did it at Twerton and we wernt ready then either, but we held our own until Jerry left or did he take us down, I can't remember He left with us mid table we went down following season Close. We finished 13th that season before he left.
Dobson took over the next season and got booted out soon after. Denis Rofe got us to a respectable 13th again by the end of the season.
In our third season 'up there' Denis got given some help by Big Mal and by the Spring, both had gone being replaced by John Ward who unfortunately couldn't keep us up.

You made a comment that I felt was irrelevant, it has already been noted on this thread that the stands will be installed over the next couple of weeks (which makes it prior to our first HOME game), how does that make me a happy clapper, and frankly better that than a doom merchant who thinks that one pre season friendly somehow enables us to predict the whole season. You do like to go off on tangents and make up sh** don’t you. First it’s feeling better sitting in an empty stand now it’s that I think yesterday predicts the season we are going to have! If I was a doom merchant I wouldn’t have wasted my Saturday even going along with all of the other 1,796 doom merchants would I? I wouldn’t be spunking hundred quid on a day out to Peterborough next week would I, or £400 on a non existent season ticket? Not for the first time you mention your non existent season ticket. As I understand it, nobody has received one yet (being sent out this week I believe). I wasn't planning on using mine before 11th August, so no need to have it just yet. Could I politely ask what you intended to do with yours before that date to cause you so much grief?
