We knew about him being accused of shoving Stendel over when he joined the club so can't see this ending his stay at Rovers even if found guilty. This case on 16 December will determine if he still here for Christmas...if he really did kick his wife in the head then I can't see any future for him at the club. He will be finished as a football coach as in this day and age wife beating is career ending for anyone with a public profile. Anyone remember Justin Lee Collins? …Exactly!

Whilst we are clarifying items of the unwritten constitution, could you please furnish us with answers to the following:
1 - What is the maximum time period for resurrecting old threads?
2 - Is it ever ok to call someone on here a s**thead without proof of extra digits?
3 - Are Match thread starters entitled to start the next thread if they only inspire a draw (and are crepuscular)?
4 - Is it a punishable offence to make reference to:
a) Song titles/lyrics? b) 13th Century Persian poets? c) Blankets
5 - Is thread drift to be encouraged as a sign of a healthy, engaged, positive community, stamped out by non-elected authoritarian despots or is it simply a consequence of global warming? 🤔

It was suggested a while ago on here that the site will also include the waste sites nearby. No idea if there is any truth in that but if so, it opens up more possibilities. That’s rubbish Ah, but is rubbish our mutual friend?

I am one of those who has chosen to stay away from the Men as long as Barton is at the helm. That does not mean I don't support the team. I see the possible beginnings of a solid team and I think that's great because taking my feelings about Barton to one side, I will support this club until I curl up my toes. And I go back to the heady days of Eastville then Twerton with all those wonderful memories of great players who would go out and did for the shirt..Long may this club progress and like many who will not be there in Saturday, I will be willing them on for another win. Each to their own, but I’m not sure that staying celibate is a very effective form of protest. 😂

Who starts the match will be the question. So many choices in every position apart from belshaw. May be the case who turns up first in the morning gets the nod to begin. Who starts the Matchday thread is also an important question. Is it league or cup winner who stays on, and do either of them have a purple coat? 🤔

Watching him yesterday he did everything you’d want from a keeper imo. He made the one save in the early minutes to stop them. After, he played as a good old fashioned sweeper and was always alert to that ball behind the back 3 and came out to clear the ball away and defend. He’s better on crosses than Jaak and deals with aerial stuff far better. His distribution starts from the point of defending his goal which I have no problem with. His kicking is ok and yesterday for example he set up Grant to attack on two occasions in the first half. I just have more confidence when I see him there than any other keeper we’ve had To answer your question o2, of course he’s the first choice. I can’t honestly remember when Jaak strung a series of games together, Day was choice for much of JBs time with us I think so yes Belshaw first choice for me. Best we’ve had since Blackman imo. UTG! When I said that I didn’t think he would be clearing from near the half way line as he did with Taylor last night. He really does play more advanced than most keepers. UTG! If he starts to get too much of a reputation for being out of his area you can bet that opposition teams will be briefed to look up and attempt to lob him from distance.

Can we keep this thread on the subject of Tom Gorringe and not turn it into a political one please. Marx, WYHHB? Which one; Groucho, Chico, Harpo or Zeppo? 🤔

Id just use ifollow. at least the club will get some money from it Unfortunately I don't think FA Cup games are available on iFollow. Ok, does anyone have decent battery life on their phone for a livestream and is willing to climb a floodlight pylon? 😂 (NB: This is a shameful attempt at humour and is not to be taken literally even with appropriate risk assessments in place).

The lad has belted Alfie around the chops the last two occasions he has faced Rovers with a crowd. Somehow getting away with it on both occasions. So I’m certainly inclined to believe the taunts get under his skin and he simply cannot handle it. I also thought that the FA, EFL, or whoever were able to dish out retrospective punishments if evidence of serious misdemeanours were presented to them. I can’t believe that Taylor’s post whistle shenanigans didn’t warrant a second look. If ever the game is going to be settled on skill and not skullduggery then it’s precisely these sort of intentioned assaults that need to be eradicated. Players will only think twice if they know that they won’t be able to get away with it, even after the event.

At least it’s a cup game and not the league. Someone needs to set an alarm for 23:59 on Friday! 👍

Maybe not in our league. Could someone like Sunderland have some? Especially as there’s always a couple of small countries (footballing wise) that make it to the finals. Possibly an African or Oceanian side. Yes I see your point. Lee Johnson, for an example. He a little country..... almost. He’s definitely not “a little bit rock and roll” either! 😂

Why do footballers from bygone eras always look 43 years old even if they're 22? An interesting observation which I saw as a challenge, so here are a couple of theories garnered from an internet search (make of them what you will): In the early part of the last century it was very common for men to wear hats and so slicked back hairstyles were common, often with central, or just off centre, partings. Fuller and longer hairstyles don’t really appear until the post war era so there are distinct looks that can be associated with different decades. As men don’t tend to change their hairstyles very often, if at all, throughout their lives we come to associate certain styles with older people and project that onto imagery of younger people with the same style. The same applies to facial hair which goes through phases of being in and out of fashion but is generally accepted as a sign of maturity. Whilst a good percentage of us now while away our working lives inside offices and other buildings, previous generations were likely to spend more time out of doors and thus expose their skin to more sun damage. Along with higher alcohol consumption, which removes fluid from the skin and increases the appearance of wrinkles, both effects can be contributory to premature extrinsic ageing. So there you have it. A dapper young footballer with an alcoholic alfresco lifestyle is a prime candidate for belying their true age in a sepia tinged reproduction.

I can’t remember where I read it, or heard it, but Belly did say that it was a toss up between being a midfielder or a goalkeeper which explains why he is more comfortable on the ball than most.
Also, given his performances for us, I don’t quite understand why Harrogate thought he wasn’t up to League 2 standard. I bet he would love to prove them wrong by helping us to finish above them at the end of the season.

Maybe the Club could sell second half tickets. Back in the day, they used to open the gates just after half time. That’s how I started. Going off on a tangent but If we had a bigger stadium we could entice more people in with really cheap tickets .Especially youngsters get them hooked for life. They’ll pay you back tenfold. Whilst I agree with you in principle, currently the the offering is the equivalent to a Class D drug (utilising your terminology above, and if there was such a classification), ie. non-addictive. Essentially, for the punters, football is a form of escapism and it’s a winning team that creates the high irrespective of the league or surroundings; just look at the attendance figures immediately after the Conference season. Get the on-field entertainment right, the rest will follow and that is the time to market to the next generation who will hopefully be invested in the club by the time the next slump comes.

Hopefully we can aspire to be tinpot ourselves one day, but I think that may be a little out of our reach at the moment. Agree - We are Rag Bag at the moment and need to achieve Crap Sacks, Arse Wipes and Toss Pots before we can ever achieve Tin Pot status - evolution not revolution Ah, but if we are going to be a sustainable club, as WAQ has indicated, then we need to be more tinpot as crap sacks and arse wipes are non recyclable. (Toss pots probably are if rinsed thoroughly).

Embarrassingly, I had completely forgotten about Rodders! 😳
It’s a real shame about Saunders. Wishing him, and all the others on the physio’s table, a speedy recovery. If that doesn’t transpire then fingers crossed that we can land a couple of quality extra bodies in the January window. Hopefully we can show a bit of form until then which must improve our chances of persuading any new recruits (subject to all the JB shenanigans).

Didn’t they already beat us in our recent history? A quick internet search indicates that it was a preseason friendly, 12 July 2015: Sutton 1 - Gas 2
